Gal*Gun VR impressions

The game just released today and I'm interested in hearing impressions from people with VR headsets, mine won't be coming for a while but I do think it looks interesting and VR should work well with rail-shooters.

Kinda stupid that it seems its just Gal Gun but in VR with some minor new stuff..

Having finished the normal game last month with all achievments, I would rather have a VR DLC.

might need to invest in vr...

Bought. I'll give some Vive impressions later, dinner time now. I have Oculus too, but no touch.

Edit: Game's 828mb, as opposed to GGDP which is 2gb.

Take your time with the game and impressions, looking forward to 'em.
Size difference is kinda interesting, maybe it's lot shorter game?

So, only basic impressions so far, keep in mind I have GGDP but haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

This isn't a VR version of GGDP, there's no story in sight.

You start in a classroom hub, where there's not much to do. You can use devil sweeper with the left controller to pull stuff around the room, books and bags, but not much else with it. The right controller is the main gun, but you can switch it to a Pony smartphone that can take pictures (they get saved to a folder in your My Documents) and check the pictures you've taken. The phone also slows down time while it's out.

The games menu gives you the options to select a stage to play (starts with stage 1, they get added as you go, no idea how many), invite girls or teachers to the classroom or your bedroom (they just talk, you can poke them with the main gun, blast the sweeper and have them hold their skirt down, or take pictures of them with the camera), an option to change clothes the characters wear (separate categories for different year groups, not many clothes options though) and the actual games options (changing render scale, setting eye height (only from 140-175cm though), turning on shadows, switching the guns, and probably one or two things I don't remember.

The actual gameplay, I presume is like GGDP; shoot girls, shoot the little devils, move to the next part of the stage (with the occasional option). I didn't know about weak points or sucking in the devils when I played the first stage, so I was shooting everything directly, something that caused my trigger finger to ache a few times, but I figured that out for stage 2 and had no problems. Aiming was easy and accurate, felt nice, lots of fun.

I'd say if they intend to go the next step and add VR support to their next game (with a full story, not just a stage-based spinoff) then it should work pretty well as another option on how to play.

I'll probably add more impressions when I get to play more, but I'm definitely liking it so far. Might even bump GGDP up in my 'to play' list.

Yes, I have an achievement for taking an upskirt photo. Okay, 2.

When this was shown like one month ago at AX they acted like it was still early in development and a release was way off, so this is a surprise. Based on the $30 price tag it's not like it's an early "sampler" or something either.
The concept art also used PSVR imagery so the fact they haven't said a word about it coming to that platform (combined with "Steam (PC) VR Exclusive") is more than a little worrying and frustrating.

Game is fun, moderately pervy, very well designed. Might be a bit easy for Westerners already proficient with firearms.

From reading the discussions/reviews its a barebones version of Gal Gun. No story at all. It actually seems its just the "free roam" mode you unlock in normal Gal Gun after you finished the story.

Sounds pretty similar to what was shown, yeah. I'm getting the feeling that they had much bigger ambitions for the project but funding got cut for it or something and they decided to just put out what they had instead of scrapping it entirely.

Definitely seems like they're testing out the waters with this, maybe if there's enough buying power behind VR they might consider full fledged VR sequel? I doubt it's going to happen but that would be really nice.
Overall impressions about this seem really positive so going to check it out once my Oculus arrives too.
