Game collectors - How many physical games do you have?

Something around 150 but I'm trying to only collect the ones that really meant something to me or just aren't available anywhere else. I don't want a collection so big that I've got walls of games or stacks of boxes and whatnot. I just want every console I ever had and then some of my favorites for each one.

Dreamcast: 5
Jaguar: 4, might buy one more
Genesis/CD/32X: around 30
Saturn: around 10
Vita: around 25
PS1: about a dozen
PS2: 4 or 5
PS3: around 50
PS4: around 30
Wii U: 8
Xbox 360: 5
Xbox One: 2
Xbox: 1

I've got a ton of digital games as well, but I am not that concerned about getting physical copies of most of them. I'm happy to have them and play them, but I enjoy having most of my collection tucked away in the newer console HDDs.

I haven't sat down and counted anything since my Senior year of college (2005) and back then I was at 1500.

With all the consoles that have released since then and me spending 5 years in Japan buying up dozens of games for almost every system, I'd say I'm easily somewhere between 3000-4000 games right now.

Wowza! Nice job.

For those posting numbers, if it doesn't bother you, can you tell us your age? (I'm curious)

I'm 44. My count is definitely the result of lifetime accumulation and does include C-64 disks which I haven't booted in a while which may just be totally blank due to magnetic seepage.

What with disc rot and all, I'll bet a few of us with spreadsheets actually have fewer functional games than are totaled (evil villain laughter).

Not too sure
About 130 per generation on Playstation
I'm currently at 60+ on PS4

Around like 150 or 200 now, I've been slowly selling them off though and dropped collecting games trying to go more digital.

Too expensive, takes too much space, and hard to move from place to place. With most I'd probably never played again.

The rundown of my physical game collection:

SNES: 9
N64: 18
GC: 20
Wii: 34
WiiU: 9
GB: 2
DS: 29
3DS: 8

WonderSwan: 14

PC Engine: 14

Master System: 5
Saturn: 19

Neo Geo CD: 17
Neo Geo Pocket: 7

PS1: 1
PS2: 5
PSP: 5

Xbox: 5

Atari 2600: 6

Total: 206

My collection is made up mostly of JRPGs across all consoles, I think last count was around 140 or so of those, plus another 60 thereabouts from other genres and games I'm fond of or nostalgic for. So around 200, but mostly JRPGs.

Last time I checked I had more than 400 physical titles. It's been a while since then, I should count them again soon.

Hundreds. Never actually counted them. I don't consider myself a collector though; I buy games I want to play, I just never sell them.
^
I'd estimate I got somewhere around 350. Ranging from N64 era to present, handhelds included.
Except Nintendo platform games, I've started buying games exclusively digital last year. Mostly for space saving reasons.

How the hell do you guys store 1000+ games?

Don't know at this point. Maybe past the 1000 number. Have a large collection that I keep adding to but it's mostly stored under my steps since wife does not what that "crap" out.

Back when I was actively updating my backloggery account I was at about 600-something. By now I've broken 700 I'm sure, but I don't have an exact number. I don't collect for the sake of it though. Pretty much every game I've bought has been one I've intended to play, though that doesn't mean every single game I own is good. I've got a handful of garbage Famicom games, for example. That's my favorite platform, coincidentally.

In my case it's not that hard. Just a room with a bunch of shelving. Games don't take up THAT much room.

Moving is another story, so thank fuck I don't have to move very often.

I actually started cataloguing what I have about a week or so ago. I haven't gotten them all yet, but after counting games from this gen and the prior two gens (back to PS2/GCN/Xbox), it came to over 250. My collection goes all the way back to the 2600, so if I had to guess I would say I'm over 500 physical games.

Edit: I'm 24. I never sold my games, so a good chunk of of what I have I've had since I started playing (4 y/o). I really got into it after I turned 19 and got a job, and technically my collection has been split in half since it was both mine and my brother's, so right now I'm slowly replacing things that were his/we decided belonged to him.

Over 1000. Maybe 1200? I stopped keeping track around 1000 and that was quite a few years ago.

Edit: mine are stored in various cardboard boxes, mostly lol. I should probably invest in some book cases.

This is how we do it, lol.

I'm 34. Started to keep everything I liked from the age of 14... Still sold some SNES titles as a kid :(

Two months ago I started putting everything in a Excel sheet and I was surprised at the total at the end. I thought I just reached reached 1000 at the end of 2015, but it was a bit more...

Breakdown of my collection:

3DS 103
DreamCast 15
DS 82
Game Boy 35
Game Boy Advance 91
Game Boy Color 9
Game Gear 76
GameCube 58
Mega Drive 18
Nintendo 64 54
Playstation 115
Playstation 2 233
Playstation 3 88
Playstation 4 10
PSP 70
Playstation Vita 25
Saturn 4
Super Nintendo 58
Wii 57
Wii U 35

Total 1236

Now everytime I buy a game, I put it in my list and put it in a PDF so I see it on my smartphone, so I don't buy a duplicate. It never happened till last year, so I don't want it to happen again...

We had a spare room we didn't use for anything. Girlfriend thought I would be nice I had a room to put everything in. But it has and will to stay with that room only. Heard some stuff people who store it everywhere from the livingroom to the bedroom. I myself don't want to go so far. It will not even be necessary, because I'm not going for full sets, only for games I like and have fun with...

Around 1300 physical games the last time I checked, probably around 200 digital but a lot of those are Steam games I've never touched.

2600 - 9
NES-36
GB/C - 13
Master System - 32
SNES - 344
Genesis - 12
MVS/AES - 55
Saturn- 86
N64 - 21
PsX - 71
Dreamcast- 53
NGPC - 12
GBA - 20
PS2 - 104
XBOX- 72

360 - 210
PS3 - 94

So 1569. Most of which was collected on accident

.

This is the way to do it. Even then, Ive accidentally bought a duplicate.

Note that it would be alot higher if I wasn't so poor lately. From 2014 on lets just day my spare money flatlined, which is why last gen is much higher.

Anywayz I keep tabs on my current gen collection in full, so I'll podt some last gen numbers:

I plan to add the follwing games to my collection this year if all goes well:

1: Zero Escape 3 (3DS)
2: Tokyo Mirage Sessions (WiiU)
3: Corpse Party (3DS) (Already have psp digital but must own this ultimate game!)
4: Persona 5 (PS4)
5: Yomari (PSV)
6: Pokemon Moon (3DS)

Being poor sucks when it comes to completely missing games. Just wish games would stay in stock. If I stick with the above games I'll say RIP to The Firefly Diary, Omega Quintet, The first Senran Kagura Vita game (Its already dead.) Bravely Default, Etrian Oddyssey Untold 1, and more. The first two games are barely in stock, but by the time I can afford them they probably won't be. Oh well. I want to stick with mostly 2016 games for the remainder of the year and I want those 2016 games the most so I've made my decision. Just sucks games have to become rare and start going up in price so soon nowadays.

Edit: Want to add estimates of older systems. THESE ARE JUST ESTIMATES: (And after I sold off more games.)
GBA: 50
GBC: 5
GB: 10
GC: 20
N64: 10
SNES: 10
NES: 10

How the hell do you guys store 1000+ games?

I took this photo a few years ago back when I was moving and getting these shelves set up in my new place.

Since then I've filled all of these to the maximum capacity - between the cartridge games (which use universal cases) and the handheld games (which use DS cases) each shelf holds 342 games. For DVD-case sized games, they'll hold 558. I've got a total of three of these, and that's why I've had to slow down some because I've run out of space and have been trying to convince the wife I need a fourth.

I have around 2,000. I've been meaning to take pictures of my game room for insurance purposes, but I still haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe this thread will put a boot to my ass.

I haven't done a count in a long time. I used to maintain a list on Backloggery, but I gave up on that about 5 years ago when I started getting more titles digitally. For awhile, I was basically 100% digital, but with PS3/360 titles going for clearance prices, and the Canadian dollar driving new digital games up to the ridiculous $79.99 price point, I have started picking up more physical titles again.

Here are ball parks for what I own:

Saturn: 8
Dreamcast: 13
PS1: 25
PS2: 85
PS3: 40?
Xbox: 6
360: 45?
SNES: 15
N64: 8
Gamecube: 18
Wii: 35?
Wii U: 5
GBA: 14
DS: 70?
3DS: 8

So close to 400.

I purged most of my gaming collection in 2001 though, so libraries for any system older than that are largely stuff I had left over or recollected in the late 2000s. Since PSN and Virtual console covered a lot of what I wanted, I never bothered to rebuild my SNES, N64, or PS1 libraries to the extent I would have if digital didn't exist.

I am not a diehard physical collector by any means.

Right now 1789 games but I think I will buy 20-30 games in may. I think I will be able to reach 1900 games at the end of the year.

Probably between 1000 and 1500...

Also probably more than half on those in the backlog, but since I'm not fond of 98% of recent offering (I'm mostly enjoying Nintendo stuff and "classic" japanese games, and simpler stuff like puzzle/arcade games are not getting physical releases anymore), I'm really happy I have this backlog.

Since I've bought nearly all of them brand new (beside some retro stuff in mint shape in Japan), that's quite a nice sum of money involved :/

How the hell do you guys store 1000+ games?
It's not that bad. A cubic meter contains about 2800 DVD-sized boxes.

I have a 1.95m x 0.8m x 0.45m "low buffet" in my living room, I think I could pack 600 games in *each* of the 3 storage areas (although in fact I only keep GC, PS3, Wii and Wii U there, others are elsewhere in the house). Granted, since it's densely packed, it can be a challenge to reach a GC game ;)

It's tougher to store all the accessories, in fact. I'm pretty sure that, in *volume*, I may have more accessories/hardware than games.

Last count I did was about 1700, I think I'm at roughly 1800 now.

/edit: When I moved to my own place I had built a gameroom specifically for it all. At my parents place I had it all displayed as well, but it was getting to be kind of a mess at the end. One of the things I wanna do is catalogue it all. I'd prefer a spreadsheet of some sort, but I have zero knowledge of how to actually effectively make one with all the info I want.

/edit2: someone asked: I'm 34.

In my case it's not that hard. Just a room with a bunch of shelving. Games don't take up THAT much room.

Moving is another story, so thank fuck I don't have to move very often.

Moving isn't all that hard though since games are uniform and they stack neatly into a box. They're the easiest thing to pack and move.

I haven't updated my collection list in quite awhile, but I'm probably at or nearing 500+ at this point. Of which I have a backlog at least 250+ strong (physical, not digital). Thus my name.

Somewhere between 200 and 300 games. I try to keep my collection small by only keeping games I actually like. At the same time, if there's a rerelease, I usually sell the old version (Twilight Princess Wii -> Wii U etc.)

I need to do a proper inventory at some point - I did years ago and then got lazy.

I did buy a proper set of media shelves the other month, and proceeded to do a better job of organizing my games than in the bookshelves I was using before.

The shelves I bought fit 720 blurays or 405 DVDs, although I tweaked it a little to also hold DS/3DS cases. I fit it without any problems at all, so that's over 400 games just in those shelves, and I still have my Gamecube/PS2/Xbox stuff in boxes, so it would probably jump up to 500-600 without much trouble.

It's a little frightening.
