Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

I recognize Barry, Ross, and Mark... and then a bunch of other random dudes. Seems like Arin and Danny are never on these when I watch.

EDIT: Oh wait, I think Arin just poked his head in for a minute?

Man, say what you will about Markiplier, but pre-donating 5K and then matching 11K in further donations is insane!

It's so cool that the Grumps and friends are doing this stream.

I was kinda hoping they'd play Twilight Princess when HD released since I don't think Dan has played that one and I think his reaction to... basically 90% of that games NPCs will be great.

Ocarina. Awesome. Yeah, shame it's not the 3DS versions. I'd like to see both Ocarina and Majora. I've never owned either or a 3DS but I've seen Ocarina and it looks beautiful.

Is it at least the Wii VC version so it's not shitty N64 blurry composite output?

Hopefully they still play Twilight Princess HD eventually. My friend is playing it on his Twitch stream now. Blind run. He's never played it because he didn't want to get the GameCube version and didn't want motion controls. So now he has the best of both worlds... well except he's playing on Hero Mode which inexplicably locks you to the Wii mirror mode for no reason at all Nintendo goddammit.

I forget. Is Ocarina the one Arin loves or hates? I can never remember which one of them (Arin or Jon) hated which one. (Ocarina and LTTP.) But Arin and Danny played through LTTP didn't they? After they tried it with Jon and ended it too soon. Man it's been years. I do know Arin hates Skyward Sword with a passion... wait, or does he love it? Ugh I forget!!!

Ocarina: Arin doesn't like it.
Skyward Sword: You tell me.

I mean, I don't know their exact setup but it seems like it would be easier for two people watching and playing a game to do it on a tv whenever possible.

Best Friends are playing TP soon if you like them

Oh gooooowd too much Zeruda

Doesn't the capture device let the other person just watch on the computer screen? Doesn't seem like it would change anything.

Oh hell yes.

For games that Arin doesn't like he prefers playing the worst version so he can justify his complaints more easily.

See sonic adventure

Kinda looking forward to him unfairly* shitting on a game that I wasn't overly fond of as a kid, actually.

*a lot of the shit he said about Sonic Adventure was totally fair.

That's still more work than just plugging in the N64.
I'm talking about a 3DS. An N64 would let them watch on a TV. But the 3DS would mean they'd be crammed around a tiny screen. But since it's got a capture device installed and it outputs they can probably watch on the computer if they want to so they're not hunched together.

EDIT: Looking at the system differences, it seems like there's not enough to warrant playing the 3DS version anyways aside from the graphic upgrade. And it's not like that's a thing that's ever been important on GG.

But I'm not talking about the work required to capture. Just how it would be easier to watch for both of them. I don't know what their setup was for Link Between Worlds but it'd probably be the same if they decided to do the 3DS version instead. I'm still sad they aren't. Because it does look a lot nicer. I hope it's at least the Wii version because as I said, composite is inferior to component. So it'd just look clearer.

Note: I haven't watched it yet.

Somehow feels especially like a shame that Arin's taking the reigns on this one rather than Danny. He seems so interested and excited, but Arin's the one with the controller and he clearly knows the game well enough to know exactly what he's doing, at least right at the start. Oh well.

I agree. I was hoping it was Dan who was going to play it.

I honestly can't enjoy Game Grumps when they play games I actually enjoy, because it feels like Arin goes out of his way to shit on things he dislikes whenever possible. Heck, even that sequelitis felt like what he wanted the Zelda series to be rather than understand why other people may enjoy it.

I can watch the fuck out of this because I never liked OoT and agree with several criticisms he has with it, but I agree with the last point. While I'm not especially fond of Skyward Sword, the criticisms Arin had were kind of unfair because they were based on a vague idea of what Zelda should be, as opposed to what the game itself is trying to be. In my opinion, it's a fine game (tutorials aside), I just don't like motion control.

Probably in the minority here, but I didn't really enjoy watching ALBW, or any complex exploration-based games where they don't know what they're doing. If Dan was playing, Arin would probably be telling him where to go and what to do every second, and that'd just be tedious. Dan can still show his appreciation from the back seat

The real problem is how he says it for me. Saying "i don't like this" is one thing, but the way he talk about it it's like we utter imbecile for liking something so obviously bad.

It's a pain to follow, i can understand some of his point even if i don't agree but it's so much of a pain that i still don't like it... Even if i actually enjoy listening for another opinion than mine.

I agree, but I'm not surprised that it's Arin playing - Danny struggles with the 3D aspect of some games. (He mentions it several times in the Mario 3D World playthrough.) So he tends to only play the 2D ones, unless there's a decent reason for him to do otherwise.

I'm hoping that Arin kind of flips on OoT, at least to the point of, "Well, maybe it's not THAT bad." I don't think he will, but it would be nice to see. OoT's not a perfect game by any means, but it is pretty great.

I had a strange, uncomfortable feeling when those opening sequences rolled... An insidious, soul-crushing feeling...

It feels like they were never meant to play OoT, and now they've begun it only spells ominous despair...

Hold me.

I didn't think ALBW was too bad. Now, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night was kinda annoying.

I'm always down with Danny playing a video game that's a new experience to him, so long as he's down with it & the game itself is fitted towards his gaming skills & sensibilities. Journey or Firewatch would be perfect fits, for example.

Ross hinted that he'd be playing Stardew Valley on Steam Train with Barry because he likes cute things on yesterdays episode of Commander Holly.

And here it is.

I can't stand it when they do silly voices for characters. I rarely find any of them funny. I couldn't get through Endless Ocean because of this. This OOT playthrough is gonna be hard to watch.

As a huge Zelda fan this play through is already pretty difficult to watch... and the underlying distaste Arin has for the game is already seeping through.

So yeah... I did the thing Danny did...

"Pickles are the only thing that would make it a lot of fun to use it for a few years back on my way home from work to be the first half of the year."

It keeps going but it just repeats the few years back part.
