Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

Okay, i'm not usually the guy who's like "deurrrr ego and jon suck at gaemz!!1", and Sonic 06 is a pile of shit so getting lost can be easily forgiven.

However

HOWEVER

The portal was right there. In the middle of the lake. And Arin kept being like "What, there's water? WHERE'S WATER" like he didn't run around the entire lake at one point.

Yeah, there's not like a bridge or anything so it's sort of a puzzle to get over there, but still. There's a difference between getting pissed off that the game sucks and getting pissed off that you suck at the game. And he sort of took it out on Jon too which annoyed me.

Arin mistakes a cave in a rock wall with a tree.

It is annoying that they wandered around for two episodes when they started out right where they needed to go with a hint marker.

I dunno about you but whenever I am talking to my friends on Live I tend to just run around in hub worlds doing jack. Not to mention how confusing Sonic' 06's hub world is.
The game is awful, but we really can't blame it for them getting lost. There was a hint marker and the mirror was straight ahead.

This is from the previous episode when they got deposited in the hub for the first time. They were running around erratically trying to solve the mystery of why you don't cast strong shadows when you're in the shade, then decided to run off the opposite direction the game told them to go in.

It's fun to watch them play a bad game and react to its shittiness, but when they make their own problems it's just painful and awkward.

Radical Train? No problem. But hitting a rainbow colored hint marker and floating over water? "WHAT DO WE DO THIS GAME IS AWFUL." An odd state of affairs.

i don't get why people get pissed. it's not that we pay for those videos. "FUCK YOU EGORAPTOR, GET YOUR SHIT DONE AND MAKE SEQUELITIES BLARG BLARH BECAUSE....it's free on youtube. sure he gets money from it, but we don't get a single penny out of our wallet.

If this content was released free or charge and it was completely non-profit and "just for fun" I'd agree with you. The fact that they release these videos to make money (and they do) means they are profiting off of us. We then have a right to be upset or critical of them. We also have a right to stop watching too ;)

Yes, they're profiting off of us. That's how advertising works. You can't live in a world where advertising and popular entertainment have been intertwined for long before you've been alive, and then suddenly decide that one thing you watch on YouTube with an ad you have to watch 3 seconds of and then skip is now your free pass to scrutinize these two guys who are more like you than you'd like to admit. "Right" my ass.

Hey Jon was uncharacteristically not screaming and singing nonstop in this DKC2 episode and I enjoyed watching it!

B-b-b-but it's his shtick!

Yep

You can't live in a world where advertising and popular entertainment have been intertwined for long before you've been alive,

Uh huh...

and then suddenly decide that one thing you watch on YouTube with an ad you have to watch 3 seconds of and then skip is now your free pass to scrutinize these two guys who are more like you than you'd like to admit. "Right" my ass.

It's not suddenly... I criticize TV and movies as well. The moment you put something into the public sector everyone has a RIGHT to criticize it if they want. EVERY entertainer knows this. If you don't want to be scrutinized, analyzed, or talked about you don't put a giant sign on your head demanding attention.

First thing you need to do, is get off your high horse... I never once said I was better than Arin or Jon. I DO know what it's like in their shoes (to a lesser degree) as I run a gaming youtube channel as well. I DO know that I'm beholden to my viewers to a certain extent, at least if I want to keep having the same ones. That's not to say I'd significantly change how me or my wife do our shows, we do ours mostly for fun and definitely not at all for profit... Nor have I ever said Jon and Arin have to change what they do... but don't think for a single second the fact that I don't pay for them means I don't have a right to an opinion or the right to express it or that anyone else doesn't have the right to express it... ESPECIALLY because they make a living off of us viewers.

I dared to criticise Jon and Arin about their inability to find the entrance to Tropical Jungle and got a wave of hate because of it in the comments on YT.

Stay classy, Grumps fans.

Haven't seen the new DKC2 episode yet, was too busy streaming. Gonna watch it now.

The Grumps just got the first victory against the WWE characters in VGCW. I take back everything I said lol

I think this is the part that confuses some people... that you can criticize something and still be a fan of it. Hell, if that wasn't true Nintendo really wouldn't have anyone left except Poke-Nazis.

Exactly. I'm not watching Game Grumps simply to flame them, I love Jon and Arin's work. It's just that they very often take the lazy way out and they need to be called out on it otherwise they'll never improve. Game Grumps is one of the only playthrough channels on YT that I watch. I wouldn't waste my time watching it every day if I wasn't having a good time.

I don't know what Ego finds off or wrong about a vertical focused platforming stage but I think following that Jon fell into the automatically agree trap once more, i'm not seeing what makes Kannon's Klaim a bad stage.
I do agree with the point that Red Hot Ride is just too slow, not the worst stage though, i'd give that spot to Parrot-Chute Panic.

LOL! I laughed how in ep 25 they had those random pictures edited in and had a small Sonic spiral down and explode. Lost it. XD

See your first problem was posting a comment on YouTube. :/

In DKC2 ep2 they commented yet again on how much they agree about Yoshi's Island being a great game. Yet still abandoned it after so few episodes, and Jon continues to drag Arin through three DKC games.

With talks of dragging him into a fourth. Not sure why they can't play some non-DK games inbetween. No rush.

I agree with Arin in that DKC1 "feels" more fun than DKC2. I'm not sure why either.

They may have given up because the videos weren't that great. Just because they say a game is good, doesn't mean it'll be good to watch.

In other words, when the game is good they don't have anything to complain about. That coupled with it being a single player affair, it's a bit harder to do a co-op show.

Not necessarily. You could argue that Goof Troop and KSS were both good games, but those were among the better videos. But yea, the single player part is a large aspect. At least I think so.

I agreed with him that it's a bit visually cluttered compared to the first. There's a lot more going on and I'm not a fan of that aspect. But I never played past the first DKC as a kid for some reason, so I have zero nostalgia for the sequels.

I found DKC 2 to feel the most fun out of them all. I played DKC 1 first as a kid but DKC 2 always seemed so much better to me. The music, atmosphere, actual varied bosses. That and Dixie Kong. I also found the level design to be the best the DKC series has ever been, so I dunno. It's my favorite SNES platformer so I may be a little biased here.

So they say Yoshi's Island is the best game ever, yet they stopped playing, or at least releasing videos of it a long time ago. I really hope they go back to that.

I never played DKC2 or 3 as a kid so maybe that has something to do with it, but I've never had any interest in trying the sequels but I go back to DKC every now and then (just beat it for the first time actually).

They both liked KSS, Return to Dreamland(mostly?), Goof Troop, Mega Man 7, Banjo-Kazooie, and I consider those some of their very best videos, and they didn't all have co-op. The Yoshi's Island videos they did make were not bad by any means, it just seems really weird that they would never return to it considering how much they both love it.

GG needs an official website with a moderated forum, a list of all games they've played with the status of each and a place to vote or rate games they're playing as well as asking about why it was stopped. Jon and Arin don't need to read it, but maybe Barry could help out and relay feedback.

I mean if they're making this a business, it should be a little more official.

Good games dont make good LP usually. Why? Because the game is good. You cant make fun of a good game most of the time, where with a game like Mary Kate and Ashley liscense to drive its funny.

So yeah, dont do LP of good games except if you have something new to add to the game, like X does with his walk thought, documentary, strategy videos about the games.

I like it.

god that dkc2 episode was sooo awkward

jon needs to stop forcing arin to play games he clearly doesn't enjoy playing

It really depends on the game. Some games Arin hates but he's never really played either... They have irrational hate for games just like other people too.

Edit: Strider 2 is rare? Since when?
