Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

The game explicitly told them to burn the gift.
"If I were you I would throw that present in the fire..." and "Optional: Destroy 1 gift" are pretty explicit
The game also explicitly says it's optional. So is it or isn't it? Is the game lying?

You could see them trying multiple times to destroy the gift, so they did know what they were doing, but the game holds them back because apparently the prompt to destroy it flashes by so quickly they missed it. Hell I did too, and wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't seen a screencap of it. I can't exactly fault them here - they did just about everything an average gamer would do in this situation to try and progress; the game held them back.

I wonder if they're gonna comment on today's console reveal in one of the next episodes.

"Ugh, better graphics, same old junk. But Jonathon Blow OH MY GOD his game was amazing he's a genius and I love him."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARIN, I liked Jon Blow's game too, he's aweshum, and I kinda liked Killzone Shadow Balls too. I haven't finished any Killzone game but they're some of my favo.......ECH."

Jon almost drops the N-bomb around the 4 minute mark.

You're surprised?

And Jon's sound effects are getting annoying. The fake puke and "bleck" or whatever sound is annoying. It was sort of funny before but those and the "ewwwwwwwwwwww" are so overused now they're just really rough to listen to.

Edit: Does it seem like Jon stutters more now? I never really noticed it until now.

Sonic 06 Part 66

Oh god, them running in circles in the hub was driving me nuts.

:lol Another episode of accomplishing absolutely nothing, they just dick around in the hub.

And yet the Police Bear is clearly white and Naughty Bear is clearly black.

This thread came to a screeching halt as of recent. Though, the opening bit by Barry on Naughty Bear was sheer brilliance.

Barry never disappoints :D

This game is kind of fucked up. Deserves more than a T rating.

I think it gets away with it because it is teddy bears. You're still executing people and stuff but it's stuffing instead of blood. Blood is probably the trigger to make something M.

I don't remember much blood in Persona 3 or 4. Subject matter is important too.

It definitely is but if there was blood I think 100% it would definitely be rated M. With it being stuffing and the crushing of the bear's head is kind of like a cartoon I guess they were able to get away with a T rating. But let's be honest, most of the ratings are bullshit anyhow.

When they get hit in certain games their character disappears for a while, is that from whatever they are using to record or is it from something else?
Yes. The first one. It's a side-effect of cutting the framerate in half and how video games do "flickering".
Edit: "Is ghost the movie with Ricky Gervais?" Are you fucking serious Jon?
Well, it's understandable. He's talking about Ghost Town. Ghost came out before Jon was even old enough or born enough to remember it.

Ah, ok. I never heard of ghost town, at least there was something sort of similar. I thought he just totally pulled that out of left field.

And that's what I figured since it didn't seem to be messing them up while playing.

Just got caught up on some missed episodes.I seriously wanted to punch Jon through the screen during that Top Shop episode. Dude is really starting to wear me out now.

What? Is that cat thing really true? I'm too afraid of what I'll discover by google searching. :(
I saw one many, many years ago except it was with puppies and I'll never forget it, so it's probably true.

NSFL.
There's also that video of someone tying up puppies/kittens and throwing them into a river so they drown.
I hate the internet. :/

Let's change subjects as quickly as possible.

Viewtiful Joe: In the Movies - PART 1

While I do think the Jon hate is a bit overblown in this thread, I sometimes really wonder how much someone has to not pay attention to anything at all to reach his levels of whatever the opposite of pro gaming is. I wanted to slap him the entire time in this one.

Arin has his moments of FUCKING READ THE CLEARLY WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SCREEN, too, but Jon takes the cake.

they will never finish this game

calling it now

"I really like this game, but I never played it when I was young" is pretty much Jon's death sentence for more than 2 episodes of Nostalgia Grumps. So predictable.

They will never finish this game.

I know people who are awesome at video games who have never beaten this game. It is fantastic and also INCREDIBLY difficult.

Even I could never beat the final boss. That boss gauntlet at the end is no fucking joke.

If Jon complains about the stress in One Piece Mansion, he'll be lucky to get out of the second level.

...also why is Jon judging coolness of characters based on who's in Smash brothers?

Viewtiful Joe: In the Movies - PART 1

Jon needs to stop talking.

Jon NEEDS to stop talking.

The entire video was him whining about how "bad" Viewtiful Joe is and suddenly it's a "good game" in the last five seconds of video. Typical.

Why make playing games your job when you can't even enjoy the experience? When you try a game for the first time you don't just go LOOK AT THAT DANG OLE GRUMBLEGRAMP hey arin can we kiss HEUGH.
Not that we should expect attention and respect from them.

They can be very funny under the right circumstances though.

Yeah, the only complaints I noticed were during the intro movie, and then Arin complaining about Jon not dodging. If Arin has beaten the game, then hopefully he can help Jon out through the trickier parts.

Yeah, having watched it now it could have been worse, and Jon seems to dig the mechanics this far. That and they actually talked a bit about what's going on the game compared to recent episodes so hopefully this might be cool, unlike Sonic 06 which has gone on for so long I think they're running out of stuff to talk about.

Here's hoping for a good playthrough at least.

What is up with them and not reading text? Or tutorials?

I mean, for someone who made half a video complaining about intrusive tutorials, Ego sure looks like he needs them.

For Christ's sake, they didn't realize they could change abilities at will in Milky Way Wishes until the half-point!

I think his point of view is more that he doesn't feel games should need tutorials, they should be introduced through gameplay. Also to be fair I'm sure it's they don't read anything in an effort to keep things more entertaining.

But yeah it's very frustrating at times. Also I wish they'd talk about the game more often than they do.

Catching up with a few back eps and it blows my mind when people haven't seen certain movies. Maybe I'm just more of a "movie person" in this regard, but Arin having not seen LOTR (and not wanting to) and Jon NOT EVEN KNOWING what Ghost is....I just don't get it. These are like pop culture movies, not some obscure French arthouse flick.

MAYBE IT'S JUST ME DOE

I very rarely watch movies and have very little interest in them, in the last couple of years the only new ones I've seen were a couple of the Marvel flicks with friends. I've only seen the first LOTR movie with no interest in the rest, but I've seen Ghost. Hell the only movie from these past few years that I'd understand any reference to is probably Inception, solely due to the internet meme it's taken on.

See, all of this is the very peak of hilarity to me and the true source of comedy from this show. Just reading this post made me laugh, but feel also wistful for Grumpisodes past.
