- John says he likes a game, or doesn't mind a game that is generally criticised.
- Arin moans that's actually crap.
- John wails that's noooo it's nooooot.
- Arin continues cynical moaning.
- John breaks and ends up kinda agreeing with Arin and contradicting his original statement.

No one's truly pissed off/offended by this show, are they? It's so dumb it's amazing, and it doesn't need to be anything else. Trying to take this show seriously is like trying to hit Bugs Bunny's baseball pitches; they're so slow that you can't hit them.

I'm actually pretty friendly with Arin and he's a totally nice guy in person. You can not like his opinions and Game Grumps all you want, but in my experience he's a stand up dude.
 
Anyone watching Game grumps expecting that to be their real personalities is a bit naive. Ego even said in a panel before that it's tiring to record game grumps and be constantly on like that all the time with over the top reactions and laughing. I wouldn't judge people by how they represent themselves on the internet, especially when it's pandering for views on youtube.

Also fame breeds hate, and I'm not sticking up for them or anything (sounds like I am though) I don't even watch their game grumps videos but still, to call someone a massive cunt for something like that is a bit OTT
 
Jon seems really easy to dislike. Every time I randomly click on this thread I find new reasons to do so. I'm not even just sharing this to just say "I hate JonTron!", I'm actually amazed how consistent this pattern is.

I like some of the reviews he did, but not really a fan of most lets play style casual banter. I'd rather waste time watching well thought out and edited videos about these games.

I'm not going to say that he's any better at playing games on the show than Jontron is, but at least he can make reasonable points and sometimes defend them. It's just painful to listen to Jontron try to seriously discuss games.

I would say Egoraptor is the one who's actually more hard to listen to personally. When he says things like "Skyward Sword was an unforgivable piece of shit" without defending it and saying that the SNES was OBJECTIVELY better than the Genesis he goes from "ok that's his opinion" to "Well he's just a jackass who thinks his opinions are gospel."
I want to point out that I prefer the SNES to the Genesis but think in no way that one is objectively better than the other. Also again I don't hate Arin, just think he's a bit full of himself. He can be funny on occasion.

I would say acquaintances. We're on good friendly speaking terms. I also have roots in doing Flash animation on Newgrounds. We've hung out at some cons and Newgrounds events in the past. We keep in contact here and there when we don't see each other for a while.

I'm pretty certain he knows about threads like this. I can't speak for him, but I'm pretty sure stuff like this would just bum him out. He's not someone that is full of himself and is actually a rather humble guy. When we spoke at MAGFest this year I made a comment about how he really blew up over the last year. The year prior at MAGFest he was able to freely walk the floor and just do whatever. This year he pretty much had to hide in his room. Anyway he said to me he really didn't realize how big Game Grumps had become until that show.

Point is, if he saw/sees this thread, I'm sure he wouldn't be too happy about it. Especially if he saw that other thread about him in Off Topic. I'm sure that is day ruining shit right there. No one wants to read that sort of nonsense about themselves. I know that because I also know what its like to be a content creator and take shit for the "free" work I do. It can be hard, and I can't imagine the scale its on for someone in his position.

Anyway, he's a nice dude. Like I said before, it is one thing if people think GG is trash and are not happy with his output (and I can totally understand why people would be upset that hasn't had a real meaty video on his EgoRaptor channel in a while) but calling him a cunt and judging him personally isn't fair.

I don't really understand this at all. The show is fine a lot of the time, and really funny when they're just riffing. Jon brings in most of the 'worst part of the internet' with some of his jokes, but he usually does them well so it's fine.

Arin does have some opinions that are unpopular, but at least he tends to explain where he's coming from with them. The only stuff I fundamentally disagree with him on is the Genesis hate, but that stuff happens when you aren't used to another console. I definitely experienced a similar feeling towards N64 fps stuff when I usually played PC ones, for example.

Just wanted to say that Game Grumps Animated was the best thing to come out of this. Some of those clips are amazing. EsquirebobAnimations are by far my favorite, wish he would make more.

On another note, its cool if you don't like Arin and Jon, but calling them bad people, assholes, or worse, is just plain wrong. Arin is one of the nicest, relaxed, and humble people I've ever met.
 
I just think they are funny. I tried a few other people doing similar stuff suggested earlier in the thread (can remember who they were), but they just weren't as humorous to me as the Game Grumps. If anything I wish they would be a bit more grumpy (grumpier?). Even if it's fake gruminess I still find it hilarious. I don't want to watch people playing video games if they aren't entertaining videos. I could just play the game myself!

I did like the guys doing that FF13-2 LP even though one or two of the guys bugged me a bit, and I'm a fan of the pair of guys that did the entire Sonic library LP.

One of the things I appreciate most is just how consistent they are with putting out the content. It's not all good of course, but if I don't watch for a few days or weeks there are TONS of new videos for me to watch and pick and choose from.

They speed ran it at the latest Awesome Games Done Quick. I'd go check it out there as they likely wont finish it and also likely be terrible at it.

I'm gonna hold off. I'll watch them play some of it, but I want to pick it up sometime soon and play through it without seeing all of it. I'd buy it now on Amazon if I hadn't already bought two games today.. 45 bucks for a SNES game hurts a bit, but I definitely want to play this again. I'd forgotten how shootery this game was.
