Game Grumps (aka Egoraptor plays some games)

This mean that there is still a chance that we will get a special in a couple of months where he will come back to Arin place and play the rest. I could see that happen near christmas.
The Castle Crashers episodes are much better than the Hotline Miami one they released. Not as good as Game Grumps so far, but it's still enjoyable to watch.

Probably depends on how bad the breakup was. All signs point to a huge falling out, but they also point to an emergency move. So who knows except for the few people involved.

I do not think the breakout was awful since they even give him a video of farewell, and he was there for Steam Train opening. So yeah... Arin would not promote Jon show if it was a bad breakup.
I dont know if you saw Spoony breakup with Channel awesome, but that was a bad breakup.
One month old Rape joke lead to clans forming up, which lead to nasty stuff and then stuff like "I wish he take a shotgun and blow his head off" from ex members talking to "new" members which lead to Spoony ex girlfriend and the Social ressource of Channel awesome supporting each other. Then Spoony left the day after. THAT was a bad break up.
Jon left for New York to do his show and Arin support him it seem, so we have nothing meaning that this is a bad breakup.
6 Seasons and a movie of Game Grump is probably the goal.

It'll be a long time before I give the steam train another try... Dan's funny, so I know they can make it work... but my god, the worst thing they could have done with a new series was start off by making funny voices while reading dialogue... That's something a 10 year old that gets into LPing does.
Still love Dan, Dan is a GREAT replacement for Jon. Yeah, his style is different which is a GOOD thing. I wouldn't want them to replace Jon with a guy who's just like him, you'd never be able to get over it.
Dan 1. knows how to play games. 2. never misses a beat. 3. Doesn't scream at the microphone when he has nothing to say in an attempt to fill empty space.

The Game grumps do silly voice over all the time.
The Steam train is fine really, they have a nice "I'm a Jew, and he's Australian" chemistry. And he keep calling a Velociraptor a "Fellowciraptor", which they mentioned in Game grump. Fucking Ross.

Big difference, go back and watch the first episode of Game Grumps, they certainly didn't spend the first few minutes just trying to do a "funny voice".
This matters because they were well established both from their previous works, and in game grumps and they didn't make it seem like that would be their schtick.
I have no doubt the steam train guys have to be somewhat decent, I can't see Arin signing off on a show that's terrible for the GG channel... but I'm literally going to have to skip a second attempt till my brain has mostly forgotten the first attempt I gave them.

This is true, but you really can infer a lot based on how the whole thing was handled.
1. The Ode to Jon video had no footage with Jon and Arin together.
2. Jon's portions of the same video seemed to be filmed on a camera phone. Since we all know he has access to much better equipment, why would he do that if it wasn't done in a hurry?
3. The Steam Train introduction on Ross' channel seemed to imply Game Grumps would run alongside Steam Train with no change in co-stars. It was also apparently filmed before Arin got the blond streak (unless I missed it).
4. Danny being part of Steam Train and also part of Game Grumps reeks of a last minute thing. The guy is barely introduced, and then all of a sudden he's in more shows on the channel than the channel's founder.
5. The whole thing was ridiculously abrupt in general. You would think Jon would at least be committed to finish Sonic 06 if there was absolutely no bad blood between the two. I'm sure his girlfriend could have waited another week before he moved out to NY. Maybe even announce it a week in advance so people could be ready for the switch.
This could obviously mean nothing and any speculation extracted from it 100% false. Still, you have to question how this whole thing was handled, whether it was a result of something happening or not.
Shit happen. Maybe he had to go fast. Maybe he didnt have the time to go see Arin and film a farewell video.
Its not our buisness anyway, we have Danny, and Danny is pretty cool. Ross is pretty cool too, so there. Could it have been handled better? Sure. But let say for speculation, that Jon found out that his mom or dad got cancer and he have to move near them to help them, do you really want them to tell it to you? They are not your friends, they are artists. I already feel bad about Marzgurl mother, I really dont want to hear everything that is going on in people life. At least not the artist I watch.

It would probably be better if Arin just kills Game Grumps and lets Danny do Steam Train as originally planned. Danny is not interesting or charismatic enough to hold up two shows by himself.
Either way, they handled the whole situation pretty awfully.

I stopped watching Game Grumps after a couple of episodes. Jon was such an annoying person, always screaming for attention, a bad loser in VS episodes, zero confidence in his own tastes, etc.
Just watched one of the Super Mario Bros. 2 episodes with the new guy and its already way better. He's good at the game, has insight on games in general and they can start a good discussion followed by actual jokes without resorting to destroying my eardrums.
I'm interested for more.

I think the GG episodes so far seem safe. I can't explain exactly what I mean. I hope they play a random bad game or something so there's a bit more reaction to the screen.

Meaning it's just a normal Let's Play, of which there are millions on the Internet. Like it or hate it, Game Grumps had a pretty specific feel to it, and with Jon gone, that feel is gone too.

I can understand why people don't like it, simply because it's different... that said, your argument isn't a good one. Dan is subjectively better than Jon to a lot of people, his being better in that context makes Game Grumps better... it doesn't matter if it makes it more like other channels or not. The majority of people got into game grumps because of Egorapter, Ego's still there so he still has that audience enthralled.

Sucks for fans of Jon, but he was the reason I stopped watching so, yeah, I prefer this than what he brought to the table before.
If by special feel you mean having Oprah yell and sing , then yes, it was special.
I also stopped watching Game Grump because of that. I like Jon in small doses, hearing him everyday made me dislike him.

Let's be honest, it was a Let's Play from the get-go. The only difference is that with Jon playing, they were going to be terrible at it.

People saying the new GG is good because Danny is good at games are probably in for a rude awakening if what the guy himself said about only being good at 5 games is true.

The problem is that Danny and Arin have no chemistry and they basically end up feeling like clones of each other. They even sound similar, timbre-wise. Jon and Arin were a contrast, but this just feels like a malaise. Maybe Danny just isn't as good an improvisor as Jon was, but he really adds nothing.
I didn't say special. I said specific. Game Grumps as it is now has become incredibly generic. It's basically become just like every other Let's Play out there.
It's true. The thing is, why do I want to listen to two bland dudes play a game that I've already played and play it well? I'd rather watch people suck at games than do them well unless they're so good it's actually interesting to watch, like DMC speedruns or combo videos. Or if they have interesting characters or personalities. And Danny doesn't have that, he's literally just some guy.

Do you listen to Two Best friend plays? Its pretty much the exact same thing except they are more into anime, and know Mortal Kombat and Metal Gear solid.

I feel like they have way more chemistry than Ego and Jon. I actually couldn't stand this show until this Danny guy came on. I actually find myself watching it now because it feels more genuine. With that Jon guy, it just seemed so forced and awkward. I didn't feel like either of them were really enjoying themselves.

I have only watched the SMB2 episodes but I liked those a lot. It was a nice change of pace having someone really good at the game and knowing a lot about it. Do miss Jon though.
I mean, it's definitely not the same, but that's not a bad thing. Danny's a cool guy, and it's great to see someone playing that both knows about the game and doesn't suck at it. Must also be giving Arin a nice reprieve from having to play all these games so much and no longer caring about how well he's playing, he needs the rest if World Driver Championship was any indication.
Unfortunately, I was one of the people that came for the 'goofy buddies' aspect of the show, and NuGrumps does not have that (yet). :/

Funny, more JonTron every day made me love him even more. I'm very sad that I won't be getting my daily dose of Jon. Maybe I'm just crazy. But hopefully he'll get back into his weekly groove soon. Remember, he USED to update "every Friday".
This is kinda sad to watch now considering the circumstances at this point.
I like to look at it optimistically. If there was no falling out and it was just an emergency "no time to tie up loose ends" ending then I'm sure occasionally Jon will either visit Ego or Ego will visit Jon (Damn this 3000 mile gap between them. Why must the US be so wide?) and they can use it as a special guest star episode? Maybe? I want to believe?
The SMB episodes are amazing. The first Hotline Miami episode at least is not. Not sure about the second. But it proves that Danny is not a problem. He's not the same, but he's not a problem. He knows what he's doing, though that might actually be a small problem. Still, he's better than others.
What if Ego had done a "South Park Season 6" where they replace the newly dead Jon with a rotating cast of guest stars to try them all out then later on if the stars align and Jon is available again, boom. He's back like nothing happened.

I've kinda liked the Danny episodes so far, even if it is a different show.
I get the impression that the show is going to evolve a bit though. Danny clearly knows SMB2 and Punch-out really well, so I don't think we're really going to have a feel for this new direction until they start playing something that both of them are playing for the first time.

Really enjoying the eps. Danny actually trying his hardest to beat games rather than just attention drift to singing and LOOKIT DAT PIXEL is what has improved the show.
Arin seems to be being more forthcoming with contribution because the super loud shock/aversion therapy response is gone and he can just have a conversation without just random noise being the end point. For which theres always Pewdepie!
They should go back to Demon's Souls. I dont want half finished old Grumps episodes to be non continuable due to the taboo of daring to follow on from Jon's destruction of interesting subject matter. Although fuck Sonic, its a terrible game and the joke of it being terrible is getting on to like being 8 years old christ.

So about a third of the people got into it because of Jon. Their subscribers numbers are similar, JonTronShow has 500k subscribers and Egoraptor has 1mil subscribers. Meanwhile, NinjaSexParty has.... 50k subscribers.
Jon was also a huge part of the show. It's personally why I started watching.
I started because of both, I left because of Jon. So we will see. I will watch all the Jontron stuff, but I really dont like him on a regular basis. Just like I dont like most guys on a regular basis. I will watch a Spoony video, but I wont watch a vlog about Spoony and his girlfriend for example.
Ego is more calm and posed so its more "fun" to hear him every day.

I do have to wonder at times if most Game Grumps superfans have ever enjoyed human contact outside of their family members, because good lord. The reaction a lot of people have to this shit is like Mom and Dad splitting up.
Arin seems consistently surprised how easier Game Grumps is with Danny from what I can gather from the eps. I don't think he expected to be enjoying himself again so soon and its coming through in his reactions.
