GAME has sunk to a new low (pic)

So what is the new low? It obviously isn't the one lowpoint about charging for PSVR demo time since that lowpoint was already known for a long time, so what are you talking about?

Are they charging customers now for breathing the air inside their shops?

DAMNIT GAME! GIVE THESE PEOPLE AIR!!!

I like how they put the prices. Like £15 for 30 mins is a deal when 10 mins costs £5.

My local supermarket was doing something similar. I can't remember the product but they had a sign that read '£1 each or 2 for £2.'

All they needed was £20 for 10 mins, and my day would be complete.

Who the hell goes to GAME anymore when any supermarket or online store offers better prices on everything?

I do goddamnit and did today and I'm proud!
lol I used them this morning because they listed Mafia 3 PS4 deluxe for £9.99, otherwise haven't touched them in years

For some reason, this doesn't bother me.

What am I missing?

I mean, I would never pay for this, but people can if they want to.

Now, if there are legal ramifications for this (or agreements between retails and Sony prohibiting practices like this), that's a different story.

There's no legal ramifications here. Sony stated when asked about it, that it's up the retailer.

Reminds me when the Dreamcast came out, some peeps at the flea market were selling half an hour of gameplay of any games they had in stock for a fiver.

I bought an hour.

The only reason GAME are still in business is thanks to those misinformed gamers who don't stay up to date with stuff online or know much awareness and parents etc who reads 'Game' so they go there to buy games and they think their ripoff prices is the 'norm'

When 10 minutes is 5 pounds, 20 minutes will be 10 pounds and 30 minutes will be 15 pounds. Why do they write 30 minutes too?

This always amazes me.

Usually, if you buy in bulk, you get cheaper, so you will see signs like:

1 for $5

3 for $13!!!

But to put it on a sign like this shows a clear lack of understanding of many things.

They're hoping you lack even the most basic math skills to see that there's no advantage whatsoever, monetary-wise, in doing the 30 min session.

My first reaction to this news was outrage, but then I found out that they have dedicated staff to handle/maintain the demo. It isn't the best for those who just want to try it for free, but I understand why they're doing it from the business side of things. The Best Buy demos have a rep that's paid by Sony to be there and work things.

how is this allowed

It's actually Pay for Play. And if you read the license agreement on any game or device you buy nowadays it is expressly forbidden. For instance setting up your Xbox One outside and charging passers by to have a go with Battlefield 1, say, that's in violation of your license. As it is strictly personal. Now, you would have to ask Sony (SCEE) / Columbia or whomever distributes these devices, about the specifics in this situation. But if you ask me, Game wants to monetize on a demo pod. And I'm doubtful Sony condones this. As I don't think Sony gets a kickback either.

'Pay at till !!!'

Ah, that sweet hand-written caveat to guide anyone dim enough to be duped into this grubby scheme who thinks a pay slot exists on the unit itself.

GAME must be at peak desperation levels to try and con money from the Christmas shopper crowd in this way. Something tells me their bottom line for this financial quarter will yet again fail to satisfy the shareholders. I'll wager the top bosses dearly hoped the Switch would be coming this side of Christmas to help prop up a business just as shaky as the practices they operate in-store... but nope, nothing but PS4 Pro upselling up til Christmas.

It's simple really. The majority would only pay 5 pounds if that was the only option given. But now you are given two options. This increases the amount of people that will opt for 15 pounds.

Sony already said they are fine with it.
