Game is cancelled after it's released -- Ashes Cricket 2013

14 years old and it looks only slightly worse graphically and animation-wise than this game from 2013. Also less broken.

Pretty embarrassing. :lol

I remember bowling out a team for 0 in that game :p

Sign that I am a 'Murrican: I have no idea why this is funny.

American equivalent would be a baseball pitcher walking 30 feet forward from the mound and then pitching like nothing is wrong.

Imagine a baseball game where instead of the pitcher pitching from the mound, he's just halfway between the mound at the batters box.

Edit: I shoulda checked the last page before posting, haha.

Well that's what you get for not being able to date Elizabeth Hurley in it. Seriously though this looks like a piece of hot garbage that shouldn't of ever seen the light of day. Also, why is it that they only licensed Australia and England. It seems like a great way to severely hinder sales, especially on the subcontinent; and on a more personal level I can't simulate my Black Caps sucking.

Being branded as the Ashes game, it makes sense if they are on a small budget.

How can they cancel this? BEST GAME EVER MADE:

All I know after watching this is there is a wicket, two guys with bats, running back and forth, flippers and apparently one version of Doctor Who is the ref.

Do they call them ref's?

Pretty sure this is some porn stuff.

I did own EA Cricket '96 back in the day:

Also owned this

Both are the same game, but Shane Warne Cricket switches out the main theme for "Waltzing Matilda", because y'know... Australia.

Seems as though the retail release has been scrapped also: JB HiFi still says it's "coming soon" but it's nowhere to be found on EB Games.

Wow, that looks legit! Love the perspectives. Even seems to have the Hawkeye.I don't remember other cricket games having 3rd person, makes it look more intense especially when you'd be playing against faster bowlers.

GIF of 3rd person:

Oh whoah the first person looks really cool, made a GIF:

Posted them in the Don Bradman thread.

If someone put out a solid cricket game, that'd be a sports game I would play the everloving shit out of.

That 3rd person batting looks neato.

Pretty sure the whole thing is cancelled mate, not just the Steam version.

That's what I was getting at. The retail version was scheduled to be released early this month, so I wasn't sure if the retroactive cancellation was going to apply to the physical copies already pressed/shipped, but as the game's not listed on EB's website I think we can safely assume that it does.

I may not understand the sport, but the Giant Bomb Quick Look is still an amusing watch. The extremely bad quality is riddled throughout. At 27:37, the tag near the team name literally reads "Team Name", when a few seconds before, it had just said the actual team name. It's so bad.

I'm still not convinced that Cricket is a real sport and not a massive practical joke by the UK on the rest of the world.

I was able to successfully place an order on Play-Asia for the PC version. Here's hoping it sticks — I really want to play this now.

I had near-zero interest in cricket before hearing about the saga of this game. Since then, I have:
- Placed the aforementioned Play-Asia order.
- Attempted to track down a copy of Brian Lara Cricket.
- Bought a copy of Cricket Revolution on Steam.
- Set my desktop wallpaper to that awesome-as-hell Don Bradman Cricket 14 banner as an always-present reminder to purchase a copy when it comes out.

I still don't really know anything about cricket.

It really isn't that different from baseball. Guess that makes baseball a joke too.

I'm still not convinced you type your own posts, as someone who would actually think that would surely lack the mental aptitude required to use a keyboard.

There are certainly similarities to baseball, but it's incredibly complex even compared to that. Then you have stuff like wickets, bowlers, two batters, matches that last multiple days, etc. It just feels like a weird bit of British whimsy of the kind that they'd put in their children's books about quirky magical schools.

I'm sure it makes sense if you watch it enough, but you have to admit, it's a really weird sport if you're not familiar with it.

Its the other way around for me. I grew up with cricket so baseball was confusing when I moved to North America.

Sure the rules are different but the concept is the same. Bowler, batter, fielders. Batters have to hit the ball out of the field to score big. Any sport will be confusing when its not familiar, just ask someone who doesn't know what offside is in a sport as simple as soccer.

I have no idea if this is how the game is played or if this is a glitch.

I can only assume it's posted because something is not the way it's supposed to be.

Its funny because of the horrible animations on the batsmen, the random fielder who casually strolls into the shot, and no one else seems to be moving an inch.

Some cricket games have been fun at times. Like the vast majority of sports games most of the suck. The most fun is this flash based website game also available as an app. Google "stick cricket" if interested.

Horribly bad AI, consider a batter in baseball bunting in between the pitchers mount and first base, both the pitcher and the first base fielder just standing there watching the ball as the 3rd base fielder or hell even an outfielder walks over to pick it up, the batter in this case hypothetically could stroll for 3 to 4 inside the park home runs

Did you miss the fielder walking onto the red ball on the field and just standing there without trying to hit the wickets? :p

Yeah I (pre?)ordered on PA just in case they have the copies and accidentally ship some out, but not holding my breath.

I think the best thing about this game is that I got to watch Jeff and Vinny try to understand cricket as explained by an Irishman. The best video.
