I'm getting worse,

I love a game then I dont like it anymore
I dont like a game then int growns on me
I really enjoy a game but then I forget about it

Recently its been happening with

The Darkness I was raving about when playing the first half then after a while I decided I didn't really enjoy it as much and then just decided it was ok.

The Stranglehold Demo, I thought was really really dull and straight forward till I went back and played it on hard and now I'm starting to really consider picking it up.

It often happens with new games getting pulled into the hype and newness then after a while the fog gets lifted from your eyes a while after you've finished it or in reverse you really get into playing the game and want to go back and replay.

I guess we at GAF and also in reviews we fall into that too, sometimes I would love for people to go back and review games a month after they finished or after they have been playing with the online community for a while.

Anyone else do the same?

I think you are on to something here.
I thought the Darkness was AWESOME when I started playing, I played it for a week thinking this. I picked it up after a one week break and it felt meh.

I think it also is a huge factor of looking for the next thing, especially with some games.

I mean don't get me wrong I go back & buy old games, I'm even playing through a xbox 1 games but I think its oohhhh its new factor swaying me a lot of the time then its just why did I get that again :lol

Yeah, I do that too. I bought Shadowrun because GAF said it was good and it was new, I wish I could go back and bitch slap myself before I payed for it.

This seems like a reasonable example - I'm still going to treat Dark Messiah with extreme caution when it comes out for 360, but I'm glad of the retread. Of course, I also like the colours-to-the-mast and set-in-stone kind of definitive reviews.

It's the 360 effect. There's subliminal messages in the blade menu planting the idea in your mind that you should move on to another purchase.

I felt the same way about the Darkness, as you know. It felt shallow, like I had already sucked all the joy out of it by the time I finished the first Hell mission. That the aiming system was always something I had to work around probably has something to do with that, though.

The Stranglehold demo I liked immediately, although I started playing with it already tuned up thanks to the GAF thread. There's just so much stuff to do in it. That said, I suspect it's going to turn out much like the Darkness unless the big set pieces just get bigger and bigger to draw you through.
