GPU's aren't ready for 4K. I think another generation or even two before we can safely play at 4K without it costing a fortune. Also people have forgotten how good MSAA can be if used correctly. NV also has MFAA which makes it even more effective at almost no performance cost. People with strong GPU's should be aiming for 1800p with MSAA - i think that's the sweet spot.

Ill be over the moon if my oc'd 1070 can pull 60fps inbetween 1080p-1440p with MSAA. Hopefully there's Vulkan or DX12 so my 3770k doesnt suffer too much with the 0.1% frames.

WHo plays at max settings anyway? Shadow quality for example has rarely ever offered a huge visual fidelity boost when you go from High to Ultra while at the same time eating almost 10 to 20 frames in almost all games. So I'm pretty sure you can play at 4k above 60 frames quite easily.

I don't care about 4k , i am on the 21.9 3440x1440 Ultrawide train , after you have used a top quality ultrawide you will never go back to 16.9. the only way i game in the last two years.

Well, if you get a 4k monitor/TV then you have the option to go 4K when you want 16:9 and go 3840x1600 when you want ultrawide.

Having said that, I DO think 3440x1440 is pretty much the perfect resolution for a monitor. You really can't notice any more resolution than that unless you go BIG.

As long as it boots up on my 580 I'm fine. Playing on my 10 year old 1200p monitor.

Yep, I have an 49" 4k TV as monitor, and I use 3440x1440. It's like an 42" ultrawide monitor. Just perfect.

Lol where is the people who was thinking about this game being easy to max at 4k60 frame because gta5 was well optimised? :lollipop_grinning_smiling_eyes:

never did expect that a 2080 ti could max it out at 4k with 60fps. the game is too demanding. i can't wait to see how it runs in areas like Valentine which I remember as being the area where it really struggled on consoles.

my 9900K/RTX 2080 should be enough to handle it at 1440p :)

NVIDIA has released a new Game Ready driver (version 441.12) today, delivering optimizations for Red Dead Redemption 2 (out tomorrow) and Need for Speed Heat (out on Friday). The official changelog document also mentions new optimizations for Borderlands 3.

NVIDIA also posted a blog article today where they shared graphics card recommendations for running Red Dead Redemption 2 at 60 frames per second on PC. It looks it won't be the easiest feat to pull off, particularly at high resolution. NVIDIA recommends a GeForce RTX 2060 to play the game at 1080P@60FPS on High settings, a GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER to play at 1440P@60FPS on High settings, and a GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to play at 4K@60FPS.

However, not even the mighty RTX 2080 Ti can pull off High settings at that resolution and frame rate, which is why the folks from NVIDIA recommend to either drop the detail level to a mix of Medium and High settings or alternatively to drop the rendering resolution to 3264x1836 or 2880x1620, then using the sharpening and upscaling technique now available through NVIDIA's Control Panel to make up for the resolution drop.

The good news is that Red Dead Redemption 2 features a built-in benchmark, making it easy for everyone to measure their system's performance. We'll have our own performance impressions and benchmarks up soon enough; stay tuned.

https://wccftech.com/game-ready-dri...y-do-4k60-with-a-mix-of-medium-high-settings/

-----------------------------------
So either PC settings are much better than consoles or this is not the best optimized game out there...…..Medium and high settings to achieve 4k 60fps on a 2080ti and 1080p 60fps on high will require an RTX 2060 seems kinda high.......So what happens to 580 and 1060 class GPU's....We shall see when it releases......
xbox x it's a beast... 4K/30fps with high settings.

DMC5 is not native 4K on the X, it's reconstructed. I can't find a number for the actual resolution it reconstructs from. Digital Foundry did a very good comparison video where the 580 with some settings similar to X and others higher is absolutely flawless at 1440p native never dropping below 60fps during gameplay. Bumping it up to 4K and enabling the interlacing option it doesn't quite reach 60 but it hovers close enough to think if they offered the same 580 optimized reconstruction technique as on the X rather than just the catch-all interlacing and he lowered the settings enough to match the X rather than slightly surpass it based on his preference maybe it would maintain 60 on the 580. Either way it's pretty darn close so there's no magic sauce difference, especially with Windows/Denuvo hogging resources. No idea about the other games,. I just recalled that about DMC5.

Yea good point. In general multi platform titles suffers here and there depending on developer/studio. Even if DMC 5 is not native 4K on Xbox One X, I could not run it on my GTX 1080 PC with Nvidia DSR. 1440p was ok but at 4KI had quite low fps compared to XOX. I think GoW 5 and RDR 2 are quite special and show how muchyou can get from hardware if you really want.

1080p with a 2080ti? Damn you must get incredible performance with all the eye candy maxed out. I'm still not sure if I'll get this game but I guess I'll have to settle for medium or high with my 9700k/gtx 1080 at 1440p

I've got a question.
Do you guys restart your PC after you update Graphic Drivers in Geforce Experience, because he doesn't say anything like that?

With all the reports of AMD outpacing Nvidia with their Navi cards......It seems NVidia is trying to convince persons that they need Turing for RDR2...….AMD should just up the ante and provide even better performance under DX12 and Vulkan with their new drivers...…Should be very interesting...…So glad all the major devs are on the Vulkan and dx12 train, by next year, there should be very little DX11 titles in development, and by the time PS5/Scarlett launches, DX11 would have gone the way of the DODO.....

Ok so how does this work.
Xbox runs at native 4k if i am not misstaken at medium tops high settings.
And yeah at 30fps.
But i am under the impression fps has to do with the cpu?
So why is pc having issues?

How do you know RDR2 is medium/high on One X?

It's probably low/medium with a small draw distance compared to max on PC.

And yet people are expecting miracles out of next gen consoles, that will be much less powerful than a 2080ti.
Thats why i said a lot of next gen games will just look like current gen games, but at 4k.

I bet you're wrong, and we will revisit these posts you have made on several occasions when the time comes.

I said a lot of nextgen games, not all. Mega budget AAA games, and first party may look a lot better, but a lot of multiplatform games will look like current gen games but at 4k. Its just the price of 4k. Now if next gen was targeting 1440p standard, then i'd expect a sizeable jump in graphics accross the board.
Even Cerny said you would need a 8tf machine just to run PS4 games at 4k, and what are the next gen console going to be?, around 10tf?. And yes there are these buzz words and new techniques and systems and al that jazz that means terraflops dont mean everything, but we cant expect miracles here.

If it is around 10TF RDNA, it will equal 13-14TF of what we currently have with GCN. Combined with rumored bandwidth being in the 800+ range, ultra fast SSD in every box, desktop Zen2, the ability for the SSD to communicate directly with the GPU/GPGPU tasks, etc., we are going to look at a much greater jump than one thinks.

We will see, but I am willing to bet it will not be that way, any more than last gen being 900p/1080p versions of the gen prior. It wasn't. Even launch games trounced last gen out of the gate.

True, but we were going from 720p to 900p/1080p. This time we are going from 900p/1080p to 4k. Its a massive jump ,and a far bigger jump than current gen to last gen.
Those terraflops are going to be eaten up for breakfast by 4k.

And the XB1X has some games in 4K that are current gen, one being RDR2. And that is with a Jaguar and 6TF GCN.

We will see an asset/fidelity jump in comparison to this gen, even in native 4K, even more so with CB techniques. It will have over 2x the (compared) TF budget/architecture alone, not counting other tricks and bandwidth/CPU boost.

And it also has plenty of games that aren't native 4K. RDR2 is the exception, not the rule. I'd also be interested to hear how many of those native 4K titles are targeting 60FPS, my betting is...0.

I understand that.

RDR2 is one of the most graphically impressive open world games that is basically a benchmark going forward. That was my point.

You can bet the 0 all you want, a safe bet, it is common knowledge consoles will always push graphics at 30. Not because it "can't". So I do not get this goalpost assertion to my original comment that game for game, it will not just be current gen fidelity at 4K.

My point being that even the X is not even close to getting 4K native across the board. Most games falling in the 1440p - 1620p range. The fact is that the march of technology, in the computing space atleast, has slowed down somewhat. The next gen consoles aren't going to be some magic 4K bullet where fidelity increases, resolution increases and everyone is happy. For the last 2 generations we've seen developers repeatedly sacrifice not just framerates, but also resolution, in the pursuit of better graphical fidelity. Next gen will be no different. If high end PCs can't manage 4K60 ultra the consoles aren't going to manage 4K30 ultra.

4k@60fps is a killer result. and that's not even taking into account the 3080 series which is coming relatively soon.

I am hella looking forward to true next gen consoles. for too long games have been hamstrung by previous generation consoles. because that is what games are designed for taking into account the masses with small attention payed to PS Pro or PCs, they are at best designed for ~PS4/XB1 level of performance and then scaled up from there. I can't wait until games are designed with ~PS5/XB2 level of performance. it should be a killer jump in graphics and loading times and everything else! xD

this is one of the dumbest posts ive ever seen. next gen games will feature tech not seen in rdr2. destruction, ray tracing, photorealistic textures, better foliage, more lively worlds. all those gpu cycles that go into rendering 8 million pixels at 60 fps will instead go into 1440p or 4kcb (4 million) pixels at 30 fps with better quality effects.

we hear shit like this every gen. stuff like how next gen games will just look like pc games. its never true. its shocking how its 2019 and people are still this ignorant about video games.

Look i'm not arguing about this, we will see soone enough. And like i said, i was talking about SOME, not all next gen games. I expect the early games to push graphics hard to show off the consoles, but i still stand by my feelings that the upgrade overthis gen is not going to be as big as some people think. The jump from 1080p to 4k makes that way too hard.

2080 Ti @60 FPS

Xbox One X @30 FPS

and i have the previous 4 gens of data showing how every gen shows a substantial leap in graphics from pc ports running at high settings.

Why do people keep comparing the next gen console to the high end 2080ti GPU? No one is expecting the new console to be comparable to a 2080ti. And that is crap about next gen games looking like current gen games, there is more to performance than GPU power.

What does this have to do with you being a hypocrite?

Thank goodness for DF otherwise you fanboys would run wild. Even a R7 260X was matching PS4, and 7850 was beating it easily until DOOM, which was the exception not the rule. PS4 Pro was matched by 380X and beat by RX 470 or 480 4GB easily...$199 cards.

Just making a point, people are really trying to play their PC hand with this game a little too hard.

One of the most inconsequential differences I think I've ever seen between a console build and a PC build absolutely maxed out.

Playing it in person is the only way to tell. People look at the 4k footage on their non 4k display and say yeah looks the same. It always happens and I'm just mocking that.

Don't give a shit what platform people play it on to be honest as long as you're happy.
