Game: Reboot An Obscure Retro IP (for this year's E3)

At least I'm not alone in wanting a sequel/spirital successor to Hexen :D

and JNT, I think that while they wouldn't be able to make a game that feels 1:1 like the first Hexen, they'd probably try their hardest to make a game that comes close. And it's not like we have many Dark Fantasy games to enjoy at this moment :(

Much less Dark Fantasy FPS's or Campaign based single player FPS's for that matter. Our military shooter FPS games either phone it in or don't include a single player campaign at all. Otherwise we don't get much of anything.

The Game: Brigandine

The Pitch: Turn based strategy game where you build up an army to overtake the continent in a Risk boardgame style conquest. Deploy forces to different points and push into enemy territory.

Developer: Atlus

Audience Reaction: Most people are generally intrigued, 2 people are shitting bricks

The game: The Last Ninja

The pitch: Ninjas. Swords. Cops. Hot dogs. Killer bees. Killer boats. Killer everything.

Developer: Platinum. They can do whatever they want.

Reactions: "Isn't this just NG?" NO! It shall be better, dammit!

The game

Ristar (rebooted)

The developer

Sega

The pitch

This crazy paltformer back from the sega genesis is back in a brand new adventure. a 2D platformer with nice HD graphics in a similar style as before. Top guys at sega wanted it to be 3D but it's stuck with it's roots.
Fans demand boxed version but it doesnt happen cos sega.

It is the year 1992. Powerful drug kingpin Taalib "Cocoa" Redd and his army threatens to take over New York City and they made their declaration by kidnapping the mayor's daughter Sasha Jenkins. Two successful detectives of NYPD's undercover division, Duane Hamilton and Ganalier "Chico" Hernandez are joined by Julia Kwan of the NYPD's Chinatown division as they rescue Sasha and overthrow the Redd empire from the inside out.

In UNDERCOVER COPS: Uprising.

Developed by Yacht Club Games, creators of the acclaimed Shovel Knight.

Truly a WTF reaction with the dozens of Beat-em-up fans praying for a competent game.

Friends forever.

But who would make it!?

People other than me played these off the wall games on PS1? This game would be awesome if rebooted with a more action focus and with an isometric 2.5D graphical style similar to the originals straight 2D. I think this could very easily be brought back by an indie successfully, especially one that could bring beautiful art and music together. I think Moon Studios (Ori) would be a good fit personally.

Its my favourite game. Even now its really fun for me. would of finished it many times but everytime i get a fair way though my memory card dies.

they're all chasing that CoD Goose for that sweet Golden Egg. At least we're slowly seeing more variety as of late (as Wolfenstein TNO and Shadow Warrior prove), so I hope we see some Quake 1 or Hexen spiritual successor soon.

The Game: Nintendo's Pro Wrestling

The pitch: Over the top wrestling game with super moves and Punch out!! Wii levels of character design in caricature factor and stereotypes.

Developer: Next Level Games

After Nintendo rejected the Mario wrestling game and WWE cancelled Titans: Parts unknown, Next Level Games dug up this old gem and nintendo was like "whatever, we don't care, do it" and it became the greatest wrestling brawler in the world.

The Game:

Soul Blazer 4 codename Gaia Enigma coming in 2016, for WiiU (Download only).

The Pitch:

Action RPG (but with lighter RPG elements than Terranigma) set in an alternate Earth.
The actions you do in the overworld and dungeons change the surface, sometime even drastically.

Developer:

Key developers which were part of Quintent (Miyazaki, Hashimoto, Koshiro etc.) form a new studio known as Giga Factory.

Audience Reaction:
Joy, joy everywhere.

Why isn't this real, does Squeenix still own the rights? We need Turbo the dog and we need more Soul Blazer. I would lose it even more than after the Yooka-Laylee announcement if they announced Soul Blazer 4.

The Game: Colony Wars

The Pitch: "Sidewinder harassed us for more than half a decade and we just had to give in. Then seeing the success Mr Roberts had with his Space Sim Kickstarter comforted us in our decision to bring back the franchise and a whole genre. Colony Wars will feature an immense single player campaign and an online multiplayer part with huge ships, bases and tons of fighters. Orchestral Soundtrack with bombastic 5.1 sound is already booked, so hold on to your butts and enjoy the following true nextgen experience:"

The Developer: "Oh and btw, Psygnosis has been reunited, closing down Studio Liverpool and layoffs at other Sony studios were just a ruse to keep this project hidden and Colony Wars will be the first game under the Psygnosis brand...next up WipEout 4...but we will reveal that during PSX 2015...cause Psygnosis has 2 teams..."

Audience Reaction: Everybody will scream and jump around, tears will flow in an endless stream, PS4 orders will skyrocket and most online retailers will be out of stock 2 hours after the show ends.

The game: The Last Ninja

The pitch: Ninjas. Swords. Cops. Hot dogs. Killer bees. Killer boats. Killer everything.

Developer: Platinum. They can do whatever they want.

Reactions: "Isn't this just NG?" NO! It shall be better, dammit!

So MGR then? Except the "shall be better"-part, unless you count NG3.

The game: Final Fantasy 7. Rise of Shinra

The Pitch: Includes remake of FF7 with full voice acting and Golden Saucer online mode

Developer Square Enix

Platform: IOS/Android... in app purchases, portrait mode only

Box quote: "Sounds about right" Mihos: NeoGAF

The game: Nintendo Fairytales: New Island of Oni

The pitch: A 3D remake of both parts of the Famicom Disk System game Shin Onigashima, complete with voice acting and streamlining some of the game's more frustrating parts. Gamers outside of Japan will finally get to experience this reimagining of an old folklore!

Developer: Nintendo

Audience Reaction: Yeah, okay, whatever Nintendo but where's our next Mario or Metroid?

The particular combination of dead IP and me playing it in the past is problematic. But what have we got to lose?

Game: Tempest X Pong X Tetris
Pitch: It's Pong. It's Tempest. It's Tetris. And it's by Croteam.
Developer: Croteam

A tale of four men in the Old West. Bounty hunters, the lot of them. They put their lives on the line for money, women, fame and justice, but retreated to a quieter life after fulfilling their contracts.

The Old West is no place for weak men, but a fertlie ground for old grudges, revenge and bullets.

But then again, that amount of heat can make a man thirsty.

"That's pretty sweet sir, but you're gonna have to pay your whiskey".
"Aw, come on, I tried my best, you know I'll pay!"
"Yeah, like the other two bottles you owe Mr. O' Malley? Tsk, keep gunning down them outlaws instead of trying to be a storyteller."
"But...!"

*saloon doors open slightly to see a glimpse of a blonde man wearing a brown and rugged cowboy hat

"Billy, could you just please stop pestering Beth here and get back in your horse? We got work to do".
"Shit Steve, why you gotta...? Okay, coming".

The man, another blonde, gets the dust off his old, blue hat. Notices something weird on the main street of the town.

"Oh fuck, not the cattle again".

SUNSETRIDERS, 2017.

Four characters in the campaign. Developed by Rockstar. Moral choices determine your bounty status and your overall status with the law. Online mode to explore the Old West with your gang of outlaws or law enforcement sheriff and deputies.

*Steve, Billy, Cormano and Bob are lined up and about to get executed by a band of outlaws

"Cormano, didn't I tell you to ditch that pink poncho because it stood out a lot? Jesus."

Why Rockstar? Because by then Konami will have sold all their IP's by then.

The Game: Rock n' Roll Racing

The Pitch: "Snake Sanders is back to show the galaxy that Earth is the best at racing. And heavy metal. And winning. Featuring an all-star soundtrack with George Thorogood, Steppenwolf and Creed. Only joking-Creed is the hotdog vendor." What's sad is I didn't even need to Google the game to remember Snake Sanders as a playable character.

The Developer: Blizzard Entertainment

Audience Reaction: Uproarious laughter.

The Game: Destruction Derby 2015

The Pitch: Cars crashing. Nuff said.

The Developer: Criterion

Audience Reaction: Cheering until they cough up blood.

Phantasm Solider Valis

Developer : Some unknown with good ideas / Or IGA if a name is needed

Type : MetroidVania

I thought of another one.

The game: SWAT 5

The Pitch: Tactical, squad-based, non-lethal gameplay that pits you against domestic and foreign threats. Carefully study your surroundings, while leading your team correctly during each mission - while trying to sustain and inflict as little casualties as possible. Choose your squad, your equipment and your tactics. Order your squad around with specialized tactics and commands. Try to be stealthy and use deadly force only when necessary. Big, detailed and photorealistic maps ranging from banks, to malls, suburban houses, warehouses, airports, and many, many more.

The Developer: I have no fucking idea - but they have to be respectful of the OG games. It's not a fast-paced shooter, it's a methodical game based on caution and tactical awareness.

The game: Interstate '76

The pitch: It's 1976 and the oil crisis is in full swing. There's a war brewing between the cartels trying to keep their precious oil tankers on the road and making money, and gas thieves trying to score an easy buck. Out in the wilds of the southwestern U.S., small groups of armed vigilantes driving souped up hot rods are the only thing keeping the peace, for now... Open-world vehicular combat with a groovin' funk soundtrack and some of the finest muscle cars ever to roam the desert flats, armed to the teeth with machine guns and rockets. To be released in 2017 in conjunction with an original Netflix television series.

The developer: United Front Games

The response: Three dudes in the back of the audience going "FUCK YEAH GROOVE AND TAURUS ARE BACK" and everyone else wondering what Interstate '76 was again exactly. Whatever, they don't know what they're missing. RETURN OF THE GROOVE

The Game: Uridium

The Pitch: Shoot everything

Developer: Housemarque

I don't think many people remember this old C64-game but Housemarque would be a perfect developer for a sequel/reboot.

The Game:

MediEvil 3 coming to PS4 in 2016

The Pitch:

Graphically similar to Knack but returns to the MediEvil universe. Sees the return of Sir Dan.

Developer:

Sony Cambridge

Audience Reaction:

Confusion until logo then uncontrollable wailing and applause from people old enough to have owned PS1s.

Oh god please let my wishful thinking of earlier this week be true...
