Game(s) you can't seem to finish?

Final Fantasy XII - dropped it to play God of War 2
Dragon Quest VIII - so damned long. I was 90hrs into it with the end nowhere insight
Zelda: Twilight Princess - I got to the Sky Temple when I realised I didn't like it at all and gave up
New Super Mario Bros - dropped it to play Ouendan
Phoenix Wright - can't explain, just started getting bored by the
Edgeworth murder
Psychonauts - got stuck in the Postman's mind. Really want to finish this great game
Zone of the Enders 2 - Didn't live up to the hype for me, bad level design and the save system was annoying.
Metroid Prime - I originally rented it before I bought a memory card. Never had the will to get back to where I was once I bought it and a memory card

There are tons of games I can mention that I tried but never hooked me as well

ninja gaiden sigma. it's a decent upgrade of a great game, but i've already played it like four times over the two previous releases, and i'm stalled about halfway through. i haven't touched it in a month, and my guilt is keeping me from playing anything else either. HALP

FF 10 - Got to the last boss but my characters were underpowered. Didn't feel like grinding a few hours just to see the ending, so i just watched it on youtube.

Actually, if you have Aehter you must have really bad luck or an underpowered Ike to lose that battle. :p

Even with maximum stats Aether only has a 27% chance of firing and it has to fire multiple times to kill BK under the turn limit. There's no way that you can raise your overall chance of success above about 40% for that sequence, no matter what.

This is kind of related to this subject, is there a site out there that gives you an estimate of time involved to play through a game? I know I could do with knowing this information before I decide I jump into a game.

You must suck at the game. All my characters were doing like 99,999 attacks. It was a cakewalk, easiest final boss ever

With maxed out stats, Ike's normal attacks would do 48 points of damage within the four(?) rounds of the time limit. However, one Aether does about 35.
You still can be screwed by the bishop or when the Black Knight can activate Luna twice in a row (happend to me), though.

...All of them?

I rarely beat most of the games I play. I just end up starting a new game when I get too confused after a long stop.

Vagrant Story. I love the presentation and combat mechanics, but the weapon and armour crafting is so obtuse and esoteric that I just can't keep up with the change in opponents. Every time I start the game over I get stuck even earlier on.

Maybe i do suck at the game, but i must say that i just rushed trough it. I did not do any of the side-quest stuff. All i know is that my charaters for sure did not do 99,999 damage attacks .

Well it's been 6 years but on the sphere grid you can unlock something that lets you go that high, forget what exactly

I've had Vice City Stories & Final Fantasy XII sitting on my televison for about a year, and I'm not more than about 30 minutes into them.

Wind Waker
Final Fanstasy XII
Tomb Raider 1/Anniversary - I will get stuck on a puzzle and get bored trying to figure it out instead of looking for the solution in a game faq.

There aren't many games that I actually care about not finishing.

However, I will one day finish Baldur's Gate so I can finally start playing BG2. I'm currently on my third or fourth play through which I started last Christmas. I'm at the same fight that I got to last time, I know I can do it I just need to actually get on with it.

Zelda OoT
Zelda Majora's Mask

Dragon Quest VIII
Suikoden III
Xenosaga
Odin Sphere
Dark Cloud 2
Rogue Galaxy
Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter (I really should play through this short one)
Jak II (worst driving engine...ever)
Final Fantasy X-2

Oblivion (I don't even want to...the main quest is one of the worst I've ever played)

I'm sure I'm missing some PS2 RPGs...can't remember what's in my game collection. I will be adding Persona 3 to the list soon :p (picking it up today!!!)

You need to capture 5 of every monster in the game.

Then you can buy Clear Spheres from the Monster Arena. These spheres let you erase other spheres from the grid (anything not +4).

So you fight in the arena, winning STR +4, DEF +4, etc. spheres. You proceed to fill the entire grid with +4 spheres, allowing you to max out your characters (or almost).

Condemned.

I heard so many good things about it, but I honestly think it's way over rated. Not a terrible game, but it does have it's problems, and it just feels like a chore to play it.

FF8:everytime i start and get about 40 hours in,then pick up another game and forget about it.

Runaway:I love point and click games, and people are recommending it too me but i cant even bring myself to get past act2.

For good reasons:
Final Fantasy XII and Oblivion. I have beaten the main story in both but I want to do everything and it is taking forever plus I haven't even touched Shimmering Isle, but I am enjoying both a lot

For Bad reasons:
Super Paper Mario: I just don't like it as much as 1 or 2 and can't find the motivation to beat it.
MotorStorm: Anything past level 3 tickets is not fun.

Hotel Dusk: I'm trying here, but the game just isn't grabbing me. Kyle's an anti-social prick, and although I love the art style to pieces, it's just not enough for me. Doubt I'll bother seeing it through.

Dragon Quest 8, Final Fantasy XII, Phantasy Star Universe: No more console RPGs for me until I can start finishing them again. It's not that I'm truly lacking time, it's more a lack of motivation. I definitely plan on finishing these.

Castlevanias on PS2: Just not grabbing me at all. I don't really regret picking them up, they were cheap and I adore the music and art for the games, but somehow I doubt I'll ever finish these.

GEARS OF WAR: the single campaign is EXTREMELY boring, it feels like long halls of mindless shooting with nothing extra, not even the graphics save this game from being terribly boring on a single player walkthrough. I am usuallly very open towards games in any genre but gears does not click with me. I quit around the 4 chapter or world, can't remember.

I couldn't disagree more, but even so, if you were at Chapter 4 you were pretty close to finishing the game as Gear's biggest single-player problem IMO is that it's way, way too short. Try playing it co-op on the highest difficulty. Your wingman will actually be worth a damn, it really changes the dynamic of the game, and you're liable to have some great moments via the headset.

Not sure why but somehow I stopped at the final boss in BOTH Metroid Prime games. They killed me once or twice and I never tried again. I just don't care about the story, I guess, it doesn't matter what happens. I did everything I came to do.

I'm going to keep it current (last few years):

FFXII: Bought it on sale for like $29 at Christmas, and still haven't put 2 hours into it and the funny thing is I really want to play it lol, so It'll probably be my next rpg.

GTA Vice City + San Andreas: I completed the first 1 (nearly 100% to) but I think by that point I was burned out on the formula and the side missions and even the story missions in the latter games just took their toll on me and I could not persevere through it.

Dead Rising: Man that save system is a bitch, I pop it in every now and then just to kill some zombies but other than that, blah.

C&C3 : I got to the NOD campaign and by that point all I wanted to do is play skirmish or online. Sorry Sawyer.

Zelda TP: I loved all of the previous installments and even though I have limited time this summer with my brother's WII (moving out soon) I still can't bring myself to put in the time for it. I was excited for the first few hours, but than my enthusiasm wore pretty thin fast. I wonder if I'll ever come back to this one.

Odin Sphere: Bought into the GAF hype, and had too much other stuff on my plate to finish it. Will go back eventually.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Something about the jungle environment just didn't make it feel like MGS to me, but again, I will definitely have a powWow with this one as the MGS4 release date draws near.

WoW: Lawl

Freedom Force - I got pretty far, but stopped playing for some unknown reason. I plan on beating this at some point.
Max Payne - I got the game when it first came out, and my computer seemed to run it fine at first. Unfortunately, the later levels slowed down to a crawl, and the last level was completely unplayable. I need to go back and play through this at some point.
Shinobi (PS2) - I got to the last boss. First time I've given up on a game after getting that far. Maybe I'll try again at some point.
Thief Gold - I got pretty close to the end of the game, but I had to format my hard drive for various reasons. I've got my save file backed up somewhere, but I need to find it and finish the game. Hopefully I won't get distracted trying to knock out enemies while airborne (most random thing for a game to keep track of that I've seen so far).

FFXII - I got about 10 hours into it but the story didn't quite draw me in. Been thinking about playing it again, but dreading the thought that I have to start over again.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - I was switching back and forth between this and Resistance for a while. Now I'm really into Resistance and haven't touched NGS in weeks.

WoW: Lawl

I would love to know how someone truly "finishes" WoW. I couldn't get past level 33 my first time around, let alone to the level cap.

My list:

Twilight Princess: I'm almost done, at Hyrule Castle. I just need the motivation to finish it.

God of War 2: Kinda just lost interest in it halfway through, even though I loved the first one.

Super Paper Mario:
Same as God of War 2, even though it's a pretty sweet game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas: Got stuck on a mission that I could not beat, then gave up.

Final Fantasy XII: See God of War 2

I severely blame my 360 for destroying gaming to me. It seems ever since they stated putting achievements in games I lose interest in the ones that don't have them, with the exception of the Guitar Hero games. Curse you Microsoft!!

Metroid Prime
Two time I almost completed it, and that I got distracted by another game. When I came back I had forgotten where everything was so had to start over again. I tried a third time recently but got bored.

Let's see here. Now that I'm listing these games it'll probably help me decide which order I need to go in to beat them.

Eternal Darkness (GC) - Owned it once and got fairly far and then lost it, haven't payed it much since I got it back

Metroid Prime (GC) - METROID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111 PRIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111 I think I was like three quarters of the way done with this when I gave up because I had a bad C-stick on the 3rd party controller I was using, and it was the only controller working at the time :3

Jet Grind Radio (DC) - The only reason I remember not finishing this is because someone else mentioned it. Also got near the end in this one, but then my disc started messing up and wouldn't load half the time :(

Red Steel (Wii) - lol I just stopped playing it. I'll finish it eventually

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (GC) - Don't remember why I stopped, but I didn't get too far.

Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (GC) - Started and, again, I don't remember why I stopped.

Pikmin (GC) - Rented it once and didn't beat it then. I got it at the same time I reacquired ED, but I haven't even touched it.

Dragon Quest VIII (PS2) - Played like ten minutes and then I stopped lulz. I'll get back to this sometime.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii) - This is one game where I'm not having any difficulty really and I haven't stopped playing for long periods of time, like the other games, but I'm still not done with it.

Megaman ZX (DS) - I'm near the end in this but these days I usually have Elite Beat Agents in because I only have a few songs left to S rank on the hardest difficulty

Final Fantasy VII (PS) - Got near the end of Disc 1 and just stopped.

There are probably a whole lot more games I could list, but these are the ones off the top of my head (with some help from the game cases sitting right next to me).

Final Fantasy XII
Metroid Prime
Ninja Gaiden Black
Psychonauts
Super Paper Mario
Jak & Daxter/Jak II (gave up completely)

Uh .. no. If you attack every turn (and your Ike has max. strength), one Aether is more than enough. Just pray that the BK doesn't get two Lunas in a row.

Don't you people see it as a problem when you can't finish a game?

I would if I always bought my games new at the $50 or $60 price point like a sucker. The only games I do that with are ones that I know I won't put down until I finish. The rest of them (and a majority of games on my list) are ones that I got for $20 or less.

Oblivion - Lost Interest
PSU - Lost Interest
Burnout Revenge - Fn hard.
PGR 3 - Interest on and off.
Rumble Roses XX - taking forever
Saint's Row -Interest on and off.
Super Mario Sunshine - Lost Interest
Super Paper Mario - Lost Interest.
DOAX 2 - too much stuff
Dead Rising 7 Day Survivor - I lose interest at about the 4th day, I got to the sixth day and had like an hour left before the 7th but unfortunately I walked my ass into the Food Court, and the rest is history.
Zelda Twilight Princess - Lost interest after the water temple.

I've never beat any traditional Mario game other than New Super Mario Bros.
I also never beat LttP, my favorite Zelda. Weird huh? I COULD beat them I just never have bothered with it, with Zelda its like I don't want it to happen y'know?

RE4 used to be a game I COULD NOT beat due to a lack of skill, but the Wii version seems to be changing that for me.
