Game updates are out of control

Also I'm shaking my head at people who think games are in a static condition, especially in a thriving, competitive genre.

That very reasoning is why Street Fighter IV didn't just get a major update to Super Street Fighter IV without buying another disc. Compare to TF2, where modern TF2 is drastically different from vanilla yet is based from updates. If Valve followed Capcom it'd be in its Hyper Fighting edition!

Not really the same but I hate playing games on my iPhone:

1) Notice a red (3) on my App Store icon

2) Click on icon to see not three but four games listed as having updates.

3) Select update all

4) "Please log in to your apple account."

5) "Note: this application is over 15 megabytes. Please connect to a wireless internet source to allow update"

6) Go home to update all apps. "Note: terms of sevice for the app store have changed. Please confirm new terms" Press okay to a 47 page document I will never read.

7) Store dumps me back to the App Store homepage (this has been fixed in the new OS)

8) Update apps. Open game. "Now your game has OpenFeint!" expect messages every time I load it telling me to enable it. Also the game runs slower because I have an iPhone 4, not an iPhone 5.

I now just delete games that have updates. I can't handle that drain.

Seems like it'd be easier to me to just move the App Store to it's own page of apps that you never want to see so you never get to step one. That or jail break and remove the badge from the App Store. Though your method of deleting games once they put out an update is an interesting way to force yourself through new games in a few days/weeks as pretty much every app gets an update shortly after releasing.

Onlive/Gaikai type of service in the future will solve this problem. Think about it, you just turn it on and play, everything is streamed. If the latency and bandwidth issues are addressed this will be the perfect way to play games. The problem is I'm not sure the bandwidth issues can be fixed, to be able to run at high or very high settings with little to no latency. There will have to be a revolutionary new tech.

I'm baffled as to how you can dislike Steam and love streaming.
