"tarting on August 31st these 3 stores, that are all owned and operated by movie gallery will be makeing[sic] all previously viewed titles 50% off, this includes any game and movie, I'll post more details as I learn them."

It includes GameCrazy, Game Zone, and Movie Gallery.

Probably in relation to this news:

http://www.bizjournals.com/portland/stories/2007/07/02/daily15.html?from_rss=1

Note: Those of you, like me, who have a shitload of credit should probably use it, I don't know how much longer these stores are going to be around.

even if you were a member (you can still see threads there even if you aren't) it wouldn't matter: There's even less info in that thread than there is in this one.

edit: wait, ALL Game Crazy stores, no matter what, are going to be having a 50% off used sale? damn, I need to get in good with a manager so I don't get shafted by the employees hording everything.

The nearest Game Crazy to me is 37 miles away, which means its too far away to waste gas money on. I have no idea where a Game Zone is (I never even heard of the store before). There is a Movie Gallery about 15 miles from me, but if it's anything like Blockbuster then it will have a crappy and limited video game selection.

Shit. Sucks that the only decent game store within driving distance from me is going through this kind of (possible) trouble... stopped going to EB/GS because I'd rather go to GameCrazy. And I have a lot of store credit from when they were doing their +50% trade-in thing.

After contacting various sources in our company, this sale may only apply to the few Movie Gallery operated stores, and even then, it should be slim pickings. Game Crazy is the profitable part of the company and as far as I can tell, the rest of the stores are not closing and therefore will be receiving a majority of the stock from the closing ones.

That's good to hear... by Movie Gallery operated, you mean ones that are attached to a Movie Gallery, right? Because I've never even heard of that - all of the GameCrazys around here are connected to Hollywood Videos.

That is my understanding. I know more stores are being shut down however, so its in your best interest to call any surrounding ones to see if they're closing.

Bah, no gamecrazies around here! It's all Gamestop and Rhi... Oh... Rhino was bought by Gamestop.

On a related note, one of the GameCrazy stores here in Sacramento has removed ALL the GameCrazy branding from their walls and refers to themself as "Hollywood Games" now. They also don't have the VIP Card program anymore. The other GameCrazy stores do retain all the branding.

Anyone know what's going on?

Shit, really? So does that mean the whole 50% thing doesn't work? The only Game Crazy I knew was on E. Stocton Blvd. Near that one Inn N' Out and almost off Bond.
