Well both the Gamespot and 1UP guys raved about RR7 and it's 1080p graphics. I guess it's something you have to see in person to really know how great it is. Or maybe they could start releasing 1080p videos

Im really not sure why anyone is paying attention to Gamepro at this point. They've been a useless POS since I was a kid.

The fact that DOAX2 made the list and Gears of War did not is about all you need to know. Hell, how does Lost Planet make the list and not DMC4? They use the same engine after all and firey monster dude is as cool looking as anything in Lost Planet...

I just have a hard time not calling shenanigans on this.

I will stick up for Ridge Racer. Ridge Racer 6 is in many ways one of the best looking 360 titles as well. It just looks very plain in screenshots.. but the silky smooth clean look the game has looks great. RR7 seems to look about like RR6 with a little better texture detail.

So um, what do you consider yourself to be 'viewing into/from' when the view isn't cockpit in any racing game?

Thats right, a camera. Just as if you were watching it on T.V. What happens to the cameras when it rains during a telecast? They get water on the screen.

Its far LESS realistic and immersive for it to be bucketing down water without seeing it represented on screen. Hell you'd make a better point if it was in cockpit view, since then it'd be representing through a humans eyes which aren't going to be all streaked like that.

Agreed. The jump in performance between the E3 and TGS build was huge. This gives a good indication of how Ps3 games over the next few years will evolve ahead of the rest. I'm all set at a Wii+PS3 config...

Fable is a hack-and-slash adventure, WKS looked more like a semi-turn-based game similar to KOTOR. Apart from swords they have nothing in common with each other from a (combat) gameplay standpoint.

If the full 1080p that some PS3 games are hitting is 1920x1080p (as opposed to something like 1280x1080p, which can be done), we're talking literally pushing over double the pixels as 720p. You will be able to apply more effects at 720p than at 1080p. But if the mags all start splooging over 1080p Ridge Racer versus 720p F1, my biggest fear is that the devs start targeting everything for 1080p. Even the low-res shots of F1 look way better than what they've shown of RR7.

Those are all single-character games, WKS is a multi-character game. 80% of rpgs are "medevial", and pretty much 99.9% of them have a forest of some kind. I believe forests existed on Earth before they appeared in Fable, although I am unable to confirm this.

hmmmm....last time i checked, final fantasy, the tales games, lost odessy, blue dragon, ad almost every other major japanese RPG didnt really seem medieval. Its not just the forest but the art direction. even the way the characters are designed and dressed. so if you wanna say the only real difference is fable has 1 character while WKS is multi character, i guess that works.

That's one reason I was expecting a slight PS3 edge, but as I said on the first page, it seemed as if many people were expecting the systems to be exactly the same. I can remember many posts on this forum with that sentiment, although they don't seem to be as common these days.

...what? FFXII looks medieval crossed with futuristic elements, FFIX was the same, and the characters in WKS look NOTHING like the protagonist from Fable. Hell even the forest looks completely different.

This part had me going WTF?!

Sony's off-road racer was one of the most impressive trailers from E3 in 2005, but it's long absence had many wondering where the heck it raced off to. But MotorStorm is back with a vengeance and it easily makes our list of best-looking games at TGS.

In the trailer last year, critics speculated that the trailer wasn't actually in game footage, but last the Sony event last night proved the video was actually for real. MotorStorm is an ATV-style off-road race with some truly incredible particle effects, mapping, and physics that looks to be one of the most promising PS3 titles, not only in terms of graphics, but gameplay as well.

The reactions of people who were actually at the show seem to indicate that you can no longer get a good feel for the graphics of a game by watching a 20fps low res video on the internet.

This would also imply that Nintendo is going to have a problem without a HD console.
