Gamers Nexus: Abandoning the Personal Computing (Nvidia)

As I explained in the other thread, they stopped reporting them cause consumer segment sales and revenue were way down due to obscenely high prices and all the capacity being shifted to enterprise cards--which they probably forecast continuing and worsening every quarter. It would be a red mark on their earnings report and point of negative sentiment, so they removed it. Like when failing consoles stop reporting sales numbers in earnings reports (i.e. Xbox).

The reason they are combining all of the non-Datacenter stuff in one category is very simple.
- They are going to launch products like their Windows on ARM initiative (almost certainly gets announced next week at Computex) and their co-packaged Intel+nVidia SoCs (in a few years) which don't really fit inside their current segments.
- Non-DC revenue is going to be like ~10% of their revenue going forward. It's no longer meaningful to have a seperate segment for something like Automotive and Pro Visualization when they'll be like 1% of revenue for the company, and since those aren't "Client Computing", they call it "Edge Computing".

Limitations of must be a slow weekend as I saw that video a day or two ago. Maybe that's just the way my feed works. I support gamers next to this but just because that guy says to follow me and believe what I say doesn't mean that you should.
This engine I appreciate some of the work they put in but their channel has become a little too political at times and I'm all about being fair and if I recall correctly, they weren't as heavily into politics but I still with other administrations which shows some clear political bias which I'm not here for any of that on these channels that I come for the fun and focus content on the things that I followed them to begin with.
They showed here like any other channels, regardless of whether you call that guy text Jesus or whatever internet mindset has earned him some kind of following, think for yourself. It's just like when a game is supposed to look bad or run poorly, people just seem to find it hard to go against the grain and just not follow and do their own research.
In other words, because this guy says something like this doesn't make it true even if the numbers and everything dictate that Nvidia is absolutely chasing the money but doesn't mean they are abandoning their traditional PC roots. That line item or whatever people are joking about, it's still generates a lot of money and they don't want to leave that to the wayside nor will they. I still especially once all the AI stuff settles and has found its leveling point because when we first eventually this AI growth will stop and settle and there will be a little bit of attrition as well.

No. To the contrary, GN spun up a new channel that's specifically dedicated to consumer advocacy and they are doing longer research pieces with tons of information. Steve has just been really bitter lately because things suck ass for PC gaming right now. He's channeling that bitter energy with his flavor of biting humor. It rubs some people the wrong way.
He and his team have been doing really impressive work over the last year in my opinion. GN's channel numbers have also been expanding nicely, so it seems plenty of people are into what they are doing. But with that comes the inevitable haters.

You do realize that them quitting the consumer market would mean them just pushing people to cloud gaming, right.. which utilizes their various technologies still..

I like Steve, but the clickbait here is obvious. No, Nvidia is not abandoning PC. PC gaming simply isn't the crux of their business any more, but it is still a significant chunk of revenue. Corporations are typically not in the habit of abandoning segments like this. As

No....it's just the usual cheapshot whenever there is a thread with a GN video. Steve has good content, but sometimes he can be hyperbolic when it comes to industry issues. His best stuff is product evaluations and consumer rights advocacy, imo.

Steve was literally bargaining at the end. Seems he already passed grief and anger and will hit acceptance in a few months. "AI Nexus" coming soon.
He complains that they are abandoning the PC gaming industry, maybe it didn't fit the thumbnail (?)

I have a really tough time figuring out what PC gaming is right now. The high end is absurdly expensive WITHOUT any of this AI nonsense and seems to be running into the limits of manufacturing capability and power usage. I don't see how a 6090 or 7090 can meaningfully iterate on the 5090 considering current trends. Same thing with CPUs. Hence the new focus on fake frames and fake pixels. And devs are focusing more on coding for lower end hardware. Valve is planning to release an AIO PC that is very modest and people are very excited about it.
So yea, Nvidia doesn't care as much about gaming hardware but I also think the advancement has kind of hit a wall. The days of doubling performance every 2 years is over. Are we just going to live in a 3060 world into perpetuity?

I mean, it is rare, but smart and well run companies do it, if they perceive more opportunity in another market at the cost of one. The best example is Apple giving up on iPod because iPhone had much more potential and a higher ceiling.
What Nvidia is doing now feels similar in a lot of ways.
