Games that are 10\10 in your book

Games you finished and thought they were the perfect experience for you and satisfied all you needs in one game... games you know they were unique and will be remembered for the rest of your life.

Post the box cover for your choice of games and mention why they deserved 10 in your book.

I will start my list with my all time favorite game ( what a shock I know lol ):

Final_Fantasy_VII_Box_Art.jpg

This game had it all... epic story, amazing cast of characters, memorable music, addictive battle system, A LOT of side things to do and have fun... and above all a world well designed that gave me the best atmosphere and settings.

The last chapter of the Xenosaga Trilogy holds one of THE BEST OST anyone could ever hear in any media, extremely emotional that fit the story so well.

The best cast of villains each with unforgettable final show down... so many plot twists that will drop your jaw to the floor, one of the best directed scenes I've ever seen and a story I think it's close to impossible to top for it;s complex and moments.

I do believe that Xenosaga Episode III was the last epic game in the term of music and characters and boss fights and story... I still get the chills by listening to a certain tracks.

While it's not my favorite Final Fantasy game.. but it's the most perfect one, the charm this game holds is mind blowing, this is how a JRPG should be made... a classic with no match.

It's also IMO the last big great game that Square made... 14 years later and I'm still waiting for a Final Fantasy game that give me the same feels that this one ( and the other eight ) once gave me.

Resident_Evil_2002_cover.jpg

Released 12 years ago... and still till this day looks beautiful.

The perfect survival horror game, they nailed it so hard with this one... no flaw at all and the most well done remake of all, a well done lesson for other developers to study.

The mansion is one of the best locations any game could dream of having, it's a joy to explore each room in it and adore all the little details they had.

Tomb_Raider_-_Anniversary.png

Another remake and tag along with Resident Evil 2002 as one of the best ever made... it's the most perfect Tomb Raider game ever made, Crystal Dynamics created the best level designs of their career.. a well done puzzles and a world to explore that satisfy both of old and new TR fans... the best middle ground a fans could wish for.

After Underworld and TR 2013... I still do have faith that CD could deliver another great experience like Anniversary, because they have it in them, they just need to share it with us one more time.

TheLastOfUs.jpg

Oh my god... what I can say about this?

Uncharted 2 put the standards so high for me for ND like FFVII did with SE and REmake did with Capcom and Anniversary did with CD..... and 4 years latter they do the impossible and top themselves with another masterpiece that blow my mind away and made my jaw drops down.

I can go on and on and talk why this game deserved a 10 in my book.. and still will remember more words to say about it latter and come back and edit the post.

ND jumped from being one of my top 5 gaming developers to number 1 after the DLC left behind.. it was reassuring that yes they ARE the BEST in the industry.

Of course I have MANY other favorite games that are one of the best ever... but of course as much as I love them they still miss some little details here and there to be called "perfect 10".... but those 6 I've mentioned above were ( to me ) the perfect gaming experience that satisfied me to the fullest in every possible term.

Please don't forget to post your games box covers and mention a few words about them.

Edit:

Honorable Mentions:

Super_Mario_Bros._3_coverart.png

My Favorite Mario game ever.

Castle Excellence Released on MSX in 1986 and it's my greatest puzzle game ever.

Halo_-_Combat_Evolved_(XBox_version_-_box_art).jpg

The soundtrack, two weapon system, vehicles, grenades, a.i., story,.... all of it was so good

Shooters today still haven't caught up, despite just reiterating on everything it already did.

In my opinion these are the only two games I've played in my life that are literally perfect. Even a lot of my absolute favorite games like Counter Strike, Team fortress, and Dota 2 are like 9/10 to me.

256px-Portal_standalonebox.jpg

Portal has perfect controls, a perfect concept, a perfect atmosphere, a perfect back story, perfect artwork, god damn perfect fucking everything across the board.

World_of_Warcraft_-_The_Burning_Crusade_coverart.jpg

World of Warcraft during The Burning Crusade was in my opinion the greatest game of all time. Dripping with atmosphere, ridiculously immersive, ridiculously fun boss fights, incredibly challenge, incredible art, incredible back story, just 11/10 on so many levels.

Super_Mario_Galaxy_2_Box_Art.jpg

The level design is out of this world. Literally. And the soundtrack too. I can't say enough about this game.

A JRPG that can only be made once in a lifetime. Made by guys, some of which are now legends in the gaming industry.

Chrono Trigger is the perfect JRPG worth a 10/10 in my books. Everything, from the story, to the characters, to the gameplay, is just perfect.

FF6, super metroid, metal gear solid 3, a link to the past... they are the first to come to my mind.
Edit: I forgot mario galaxy 2

Shadow of the Colossus
An utterly flawless game. From design to execution, it sets out what it meant to do. The highlight of the game is the fourth colossus, who teaches you, not through narrative, but through gameplay, that you're the real monster. And that dynamic soundtrack was so smooth and fluid. And movement! Movement felt and looked natural and real! I'd quadruple dip if they released a version for Vita and an HD-er version on PS4.

Sonic 2 for Mobile
Christian Whitehead took an amazing classic game and smoothed all the edges. Playing it with touch controls is a nightmare, but on the Amazon Fire TV or an Android Device with a controller, it's a perfect re-release of a gem. It runs at 60 frames per second, a nice 16:9 presentation that shows more than the original 4:3 (a welcome addition in a fast scroller like Sonic), a new (well, completed) level, and the original faux-3D special stage has been replaced with a new, smooth 3D Tube, that still looks like it's plucked from an era we've passed. They even added extra frames of animation to the golden rings strewn throughout each level. It's perfect, and a shame that it's not on consoles, handhelds (dat OLED), and Steam. Same for Sonic 1 remastered, btw.

Yeah, REmake also came to my mind. I guess Silent Hill 2 might have had a little stronger atmosphere, but the gameplay mechanics were shit compared to RE - so there can only be one survival horror king.

Other than that; Majoras Mask, Killer7, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Super Metroid (aka atmosphere perfection despite some flaws) and Mario Galaxy/Paper Mario 2.

Bought it Toys R Us the day of release when I was 10 after reading about it in Nintendo Power. I'd never played anything like it before - the music, atmosphere and characters were so new and interesting. I credit Chrono Trigger that first game that really opened my eyes to other genres besides platformers and shooters.

Not my personal favorite RPG, but were I to review it professionally, I could find no reason to not give it a 10. It was flawless to me.

Ocarina of Time
Super Metroid
Chrono Trigger
Resident Evil 4
Half Life 2
Portal
Final Fantasy VII
Super Mario Bors 3
Mega Man 2
Metal Gear Solid
StarCraft

Edit: My brain sucks.

Metal Gear Solid 1: Kojima at his greatest
Shenmue, Shenmue 2: Unique, epic, nostalgic
Left 4 Dead 2: Unlimited fun potential
Final Fantasy VII: Weird story but it somehow works. Amazing atmosphere and music

None. Currently, I believe that there is no such thing as a 10/10 game for me. Sure, some have come close, but I honestly don't think there's been a perfect game.

Team Fortress 2, no doubt about that, best multiplayer shooter ever made.

I'll give you that it is hands down the best class based shooter ever made, and it is easily in my top 5 favorite games of all time, but don't forget Counter-Strike when you're talking about best multiplayer shooters ever.

Portal 2
The Last of Us
Resident Evil 4
Shadow of The Colossus
Super Mario 64
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VI
Ocarina of Time
Journey

Only games I would ever consider giving a perfect score.

Half Life
Ocarina of Time
Shadow of the Colossus
God of War
Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid 3
GTA San Andreas
Uncharted 2
Red Dead Redemption
Portal 2
The Last of Us

None of them are perfect games, but they're all 10/10 in my book.

This game definitely for me.

Love the shit out of Dishonored but the story keeps it from being a perfect game in my book.

It was my third favorite that year after Journey and The Walking Dead though. But Journey is the only one of those I consider to be a perfect experience.

Zelda had finally made the jump to 3D and it was so worth it. Seeing Link with Epona on the title screen was breathtaking. Great level design, tons of sidequests and secrets, fantastic music and gameplay, cool boss encounters and fun puzzles. The list goes on and on.

It truly is 10 out of 10 for me. An absolute masterpiece of a game. I replay it every year because it still gives me the same feeling the first time I played it. So damn good.

Super Metroid had elevated the series to a whole new level. The atmosphere, music, gameplay, and the sheer amount of secrets in the game are unbelievable. It's also a speedrunners dream - I love watching this game be broken just to complete it in the fastest time possible. Nintendo has yet to surpass it IMO.

96 levels of pure fun (minus Tubular but that's another topic :p). Just the right amount of challenge, plenty of hidden exits, and some of the best 2 player gameplay I've ever experienced. This is still the best Mario game I've ever played.

My favorite shooter. Perfect campaign design. Still holds up nicely today.
Certain design aspects have been annoying me lately, but it's still my overall favorite game. Loaded with content and I loved both campaigns.
The best atmosphere in any game I've played. That prison area had me pausing every five minutes, lol.
Classic, thrilling adventure. Interesting storyline and the pre-rendered backgrounds worked well.
The best Zelda game in my opinion.

Yoshi's Island, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger/Cross, System Shock, Half-Minute Hero, TLoZ: A Link to the Past, XCOM Enemy Unknown, Civ V, Resident Evil Remake, Final Fantasy Tactics.

All I can think by now.

Abe's Odyssey will forever be a 10/10 for me, it has been so overlooked over the years, glad it is seeing a resurrection of sort.

Halo 1-3

Everything about them to me was just perfect. The music, the story, the gameplay. It all came together with such emotion that it defined gaming for me. All I did was go to my friends once and he said he had this thing called an Xbox and it was over. I say this a lot, but I would not be the gamer I am today without Halo. (rip)

Mass Effect 2

I feel like it was the perfect medium between having a decent story (ME1) and having good gameplay (ME3). I loved everywhere you went in the game, my favorite being the ME2 Citadel, and have played through it several times.

Skyrim

I know this game gets flack for not being as good as its predecessors, but it is to this day in my top 3 rpgs. I can't even play ESO without just wanting to go back to my home in Morthal and visit my wife. I lost my save though, so really they don't exist :'(

Honorable Mentions: GTA4 (Cop's n Crooks was just unreal), CoD4, Guild Wars 2, SC1

Playing this back then for the first time.. My god. To this day, nothing ever came close to dat feeling when I grabbed the controller and started running around in a 3D space, it was like no other, it was.. Just perfect. SM64 > every platform game ever.
