Games that do fall damage well?

I remember how Halo had fall damage, but then Halo 2 didn't :(

Being high up in levels like Hang 'Em High went from being intense to being meh :((

Where are my fall damages

Oblivion.

With your Acrobatics at a high enough level, you can jump down from the tallest mountain and survive. :D

Final Fantasy Tactics.

Ignore Height, motherfucker.

Any game were ragdoll activates as you fall.
I love how Niko Bellic flails his arms around in panic as soon as you drop from like three meters.

Given the scale of Far Cry 4, I'm surprised at how "accurately" they try to do fall damage. It's very easily to die from jumping just a bit too far or even slamming into the wall while in your wingsuit. Most of the time though, you can bypass fall damage by sliding alongside the cliff wall.

In recent memory, Dragon Age Inquisition. Only thing immune to the fall damage is at Skyhold or on a horse. Otherwise fall damage Happens.

Quite the opposite but in Morrowind, there is a bug that if you fall from a high place and into water, you don't take any fall damage, but if you cast water walking, you can randomly just die like you hit a solid surface. This made casting the icaran flight scroll and jumping into water, then casting water walk an extremely bad idea. But in general icaran flight does exactly what it's name implies, you better have a slowfall ready or waste another scroll, but other than that it is one of the most awesome ways to get around in a videogame ever!

I always liked shadow of the colossus fall damage system. You could fall pretty far and still survive and as you got stronger you could push it a little more. Really enjoyed climbing on things in that game, chasing salamanders and jumping off temples to hit them.

DK64, love it when you go SPLAT and just lose one quarter a watermelon (aka just one hit), no matter the height.

i have no idea why this made me giggle and i don't have anything meaningful to contribute.

GTA V, if you jump off from high enough you get demolished when you land. Sound effects are so nasty!

I was running down this hill by the observatory and I somehow tripped like two feet and died. fuck you, michael. i wish the game didn't instantly go to the wasted thing when you die, though.

Just Cause 2. Sky dive from an airplane and grapple yourself into the ground right before you hit = zero fall damage. That's how I like it. Fall damage it awful

Even better, if you open your parachute a moment or two before hitting the ground, you'll take either a small shaving of fall damage, or none at all. You still face-plant and ragdoll, but you end up just fine.

I preferred no fall damage in Halo 2. I was annoyed when they brought it back in Halo Reach. No fall damage allows the vertical element of Halo's gameplay to shine IMO.

I was a Druid. Instant cast flight form bitches. What is fall damage?

That's part of what I thought WoW did great. You could avoid or mitigate fall damage. From some heights you took some damage, from other some more damage, and from the furthest heights an instant death.

I loved going to the top of the world, dismounting, falling 99% of the way and bubbling at the last possible second.

Oh, and fall damage gave way to the infamous elevator bosses.

Rust Legacy had a pretty good sysyem. Your legs would be broken for awhile so you couldn't runaway from people chasing ypu if you were careless.

Real talk fall damage sucks. It's so much fun to bullshit around at high heights and take no damage.

Ocarina of Time fall damage was pretty funny if you forgot to roll. Link's pained shout is pretty much spot on for the kind of reaction you have when you break both of your legs (lose two hearts).

Wrong. Man, the biggest thing about DAI I can't stand is all the Fall damage. If its that serious, get rid of all these mountains.

It was a little annoying at first since I didn't like how it was implemented, but after I realized you don't take fall damage while mounted I've been jumping off mountain tops like it's nobody's business.

The Souls games are really good at designing levels and accessibility around fall damage. Like there will be a secret area/easter egg that's just far enough of a drop that you'll survive the fall.

I believe in GTAV you also go into an auto fall animation if you walk off a high building instead of jump.

This annoyed me when trying to do some of those base jumping missions, which required to jump off the FIB building or something.

You can't walk off and trigger the parachute, you'll go into the autofall to your death animation every time. I found it odd the only way to trigger opening the parachute required you to actually jump first.

Xenoblade Chronicles. If you die from the fall, you appear at the nearest landmark immediately, and if you don't, your HP will recover quickly.

Dragons Dogma. Holding on to a griffin, stabbing it thinking you're hot shit. Don't notice the stamina bar drop, next thing you know splat, you're on the ground.
