Games that ended on cliffhangers that never got resolved

For me it's tactics orge. The game wraps up somewhat but there's so many unresolved threads. Such a shame tactics orge wasn't as successful as it should have been.

I doubt D4 is going to get more episodes.

It wasn't even a proper cliff hanger, it was just cut short at what seemed to be the half-way point.

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 ends literally with an cliffhanger and not some conclusive but open-ended ending like most games that are mentioned here.

For those saying The Order, that whole game was basically set up for 2 and because of it's mediocrity it won't come.

It doesn't deserve one either. The cliffhanger ending was not earned because the story/experience was wholly unsatisfying throughout. GOWII for example, cliffhanger of course but incredibly enjoyable adventure, you fought the guy who wronged you but he got away. You still get a feeling of satisfaction and the need to see how it continues from there.

The need for a sequel to 1886 doesn't come from the fact that the game was fantastic but because people were left hanging, blueballed. It has nothing to do with the games quality but everything to do with the OCD nature of story focused gamers.

Xenosaga Episode 3

I mean it ended perfectly, however it's still a cliff hanger because we never got to Lost Jerusalem. That will forever make me sad.

Darksiders
We still don't know what happened after the 4 horsemen were called.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance
After Kain temporarily defeated the Elder God and got the purified Soul Reaver we don't really know how the current timeline got affected by it.

There was a very well fanmade video that gave a possible explanation of what could have happened after Defiance. And there was a another LoK game in development but it was cancelled in development.

Xenogears' cliffhanger is even worse. The whole basis of Xenogears -- all thousands of years of it -- is that Deus is dead set on returning to Earth and will do whatever it takes to achieve this. Then at the end of the game, we still don't know why it wanted that so desperately.

I don't care that much, but Golden Sun 3 didn't just end on a cliffhanger, the party actually completely disregarded the main plot point at the beginning, did something entirely unrelated, then came back and were like "oh shit that's right, the plot!" Then it ends.

Kya: Dark Lineage. One of the PS2's hidden gems. So hidden in fact it never got a sequel.
I still replay this one from time to time. Up there with Jak & Daxter, Sly and Ratchet & Clank for me.

If you asked this like a year ago I would've said Virtue's Last Reward.

Thank goodness for Zero Time Dilemma. 2015 really was the year of dreams.

Half-Life is EASILY the worst offender here and Valve's silence on the matter and outright dropping the series has made me lose a lot of respect for them as a developer.

Baldur's Gate 2: Dark Alliance had some ridiculous cliffhanger but nobody longed for a third game and Champions of Norrath basically replaced it.
Came here to say Dark Alliance 2. That cliffhanger was just so bizarre; it made no sense for (spoilers nobody cares about)
Mulhorand to be involved in Mordoc's rise to power and his attack on Baldur's Gate
.

I just watched the ending to Darksiders again. Still gives me awesome chills.

I hope Darksiders gets added to BC on the Xbox One or a remastered version comes out. The game was so good.

I just purchased a copy of the Deathinitive Edition for the XBO. Only cost $21. Amazon.

Golden Sun 3.

Stop making Camelot work on your sports titles, Nintendo.

I still hold out hope for a new Golden Sun that closes out the cliffhanger from Dark Dawn.

Golden sun for the DS. Doesn't matter tho, they ruined what made the first games great.

This! Give us Golden Sun 4! Down with the sports titles! *grabs pitchfork*
I had hopes we'd get Isaac in Smash and reinvigorate the series, but alas.
Hopefully Isaac had a relevant number of votes in ballot and Nintendo reconsiders that sequel. On NX. launch.
