Games with amazing intros/title sequences.

Amazing timing on this thread. Just started replaying Vagrant Story.

Not just the greatest opening credits sequence of all time, but the greatest game of all time.

Edit: something you actually play is so much better than an FMV.

i made this thread last year (i think) and my feelings at the time were that the best one is Super Metroid

i still feel that way because of the way u see it: the start screen has the music, it sets a tone, the camera pans around this lab and then the camera stops on the baby metroid in its unbroken pod in the dark and the music gets more eerie, and then you immediately press start, make your save file, go through the cutscenes, play the "tutorial" section of the game on the space station and see that same section that was in the title screen but the glass from the pod is busted and the baby metroid isnt there

its great

Bless you.

I was going through the thread feeling my faith in humanity slip away as people failed to mention NieR's glorious Kaine filled intro

Shit, man. NieR is the game of the generation. Anybody who neglects to mention it deserves some spanking. If anyone says "intro" I say "NieR". Thank the Lord we are getting a second game, another good proof that God exists :)

But hey, watch Freespace intro too, it will blow your pants off.

Bioshock Infinite's was pretty badass too. Definitely the highlight of that game.
My jaw totally dropped during that intro I swear. I knew Columbia was gonna be fucked up but
for it to be all peaceful and happy and fun and then suddenly you are a smacked in the face with a big pile of horrid racism, and then the killing starts

Civilization V's opening.
The music mostly steals the show, but the concept of that sage explaining his prophetic dream to the settler is both touching and epic. It's a clever and dramatic way to explain the game's concept.

Plus, the logo going through the eras is beautiful.
Actually, the whole intro is beautiful.

Megaman 2 for me.

So many memories of waiting for it to arrive, then we finally pop it in. The camera pans up, a bit of backstory and an urban tower, then the rocking 8-bit music kicks in and there he is, hair waving in the wind, before teleporting out and getting down to business. Just epic. Probably been fifty Megaman games since then and they've never done it better.

Does this "intro" have to take place at the very beginning, or can it be, say, 5-10 minutes into the game?

Because Bioshock's is amazing on both accounts.

"They said, "Son, you were born to do great things". You know what? They were right."

Goosebumps. Every time.

Also, this:

However, my favorite "intro" is the opening video to a visual novel called Remember11.

I would be the HAPPIEST fanboy ever if Bioshock was remade in HD. It is one of my all-time favorite games ever and I can kiss Kevin Levine 1036 times on the cheek for what he made! The atmosphere and setting was just so amazing.

Okay, I'm done.
