Games with good archery

Playing TLOU again, it feels so satisfying to kill with the bow and arrow (hate that arrows break though). Far Cry 3 in my memory was also pretty damn good with the bow and arrow stealth combo.

Any other games where archery combat is well done and satisfying?

Dragon's Dogma.

I really liked the bow gameplay in that game. And the gameplay in general. Great game, really.

Dragon's Dogma had great archery and archery skills. Fun to use and powerful.
Horizon: Zero Dawn also sounds right up your alley.

Also, It was the only method I used in Skyrim just because it was stupidly overpowered and the melee/magic combat in that game is total garbage.

My personal favorite is TR2013.

I don't even use guns in that game. They might as well not exist. Actually, I think the game would have been stronger if they didn't.

I love that bow. I've replayed the game many times just for that snappy satisfaction.

Dragon's Dogma and the Strider class is some of the most fun you can have in gaming.

I'd also go with the most recent Tomb Raoder games, along with Horizon Zero Dawn.

Crysis 3 also had a very fun bow, but that's an FPS.

People like to crap on the gameplay in Skyrim a lot, but I always thought the archery was actually a pretty stand-out aspect.

The insane ragdolls and near non-existent physics made it hilarious and overpowered for sure.

I only played Skyrim as an archer, really. The melee combat is utter trash.

Rice of Toom Braider has better Bow IMO, you should get around to play it.

Recently, I thought Nioh did a great job at fast-paced archery, it was smooth and effective.

The Amazon in Diablo 2 loaded up with the proper gear was also kick ass, sending out pulsing tsunami waves of death that smeared the raging hordes of hell across the pavement ... as unpopular as that build was.

I agree with Horizon. Every kill becomes more satisfying as you hone your skills and become more masterful with your bow and arrow. Sure, you could just mindlessly blow your arrows and eventually kill the creatures - but then you realize you are not only making it more difficult for yourself, but also jeopardizing what loot is dropped. Learning techniques to take down each creature individually is both a fulfilling and rewarding experience in Horizon. Playing on Hard difficulty makes it even better.

Yeah. Archery was just FUN in Skyrim, with the sandbox design of the game:

Wow, I came in to say EXACTLY this.

There's something about the combat in TR2013 in general that feels extremely satisfying. But that bow... Hot damn.

Horizon and the last 2 Tomb Raider games have great bow combat

I enjoy it in Skyrim also, especially using it for stealth. Not on the same level as the games I mentioned above, however

Horizon. I don't usually like bows and was worried I would want a close combat weapon. In the end I had no desire to bash stuff with my staff at all. Loved the bows.

Horizon was probably my first bow game in like 10 years. Feels good, might have more impact though.
Never used them in souls.

Make it twenty actually, Turok maybe.
Apparently TLOU. :p

BoTW, TLOU

Nailing a long arrow Arc in BoTW is pretty damn satisfying.

This lol

I never really got this one, because from what I've seen it seems you can't really arc your shots, it's always basically goes in a straight line. And then a minor nitpick is that when it connects with the machines, the the sound of the impact feels so... light and unsatisfying, as if you just shot them with a pea shooter. (Slight hyperbole, but meh) Maybe that's the point because you're shooting at machines after all, I dunno.

Monster Hunter

Probably the one ranged weapon I can stand to use in those games.

Also, Archery in BotW is crazy fun. Between horseback archery, slow-mo aerial archery, shield surfing archery, and using elemental arrows in cool interactions, using a bow and arrow has never been more fun.

Breath of the Wild, you can do a lot of cool things with a bow in that game.

Honestly surprised at the mentions for Tomb Raider in this thread. as soon as I picked up a gun in that game, I Immediately stopped using the bow. I didn't find the archery satisfying at all.
