Games with great animations

Name some games with amazing animation! Please post a GIF or Youtube video to further prove the point. The animation could be 2D or 3D animation.

1. Portal 2:

For a little robot ball, Wheatley is sure very expressive.
The other spheres at the end of the game are, too.
GlaDOS as well. Even the traps and stuff are expressive. Remember those crushers?

Even they have a nice animation. It's pretty amazing, IMO. Valve's other games are animated well, too. For instance, the zombies in Left 4 Dead. I love the various ways they run.

2. Skyward Sword:

The characters are very expressive and well animated, more so than a lot of games today.

So post what games you think have some good animation contained within.

am i the only one that thinks that nathan drake has a stupid looking running animation it looks like he's trying to hold back the shits.

but i nominate all vanillaware games, great use of vectoring sprites with traditional animation.

Ghost Trick was the last game I played where the animation really blew my mind.

LA Noire, too, but that's kind of cheating.

I don't think I've ever seen more fluid animations than in Uncharted 2. God it's good.
Never understood the praise for Uncharted's animation. Sure it's detailed but it looks like drake is ice skating.

Gravity looks insane in that regard, she moves wonderfully.

Portal 2 was very Pixar-like at times, that's in the OP, but just saying I agree.

I don't much care for the games, but Assassin's Creed does an awesome job of blending lots of cool looking animations fluidly.

While editing TF2 replays in slow motion, I was surprised to see how good the animations are. You never really notice when you're playing, but they're quite excellent.

Yeeee, came in here for Ghost Trick and dancing guard, not dissapointed. Loved those exaggerated movements.

Wind Waker, Halo, and The Last Guardian, also the bird from Skyward Sword.

Yeah. Uncharted has fine visuals, but the animation never got my attention, except for cutscenes where the character's animation caused the realistically designed characters to seem off.

I mean, maybe technically it's not the best, I honestly can't judge there, but when I'm playing everything looks so fluid and natural. I can't think of another game that I always think that about.

Aww, now I have to play Ghost Trick now...

MoCap's not cheating. :P

Neither is any form of rotoscoping. IIRC, the original Prince of Persia used it, which is why it has great animations. Edit: Beaten.

I didn't realize how...intricate the finger animations were in SS. And the facial animations look to rival WWs in expressiveness despite not being as cartoony. Can't wait to see more of the game, especially the inevitable super huge detailed bosses.

Basically any Nintendo game excels in animation. Miyamoto once said that graphics are good but animation sells an experience. I totally agree.

Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Incredible animation during the fights and realtime cutscenes. Can't find a decent link since Im on my phone, but just watch any of the trailers.

Skyward Sword looks amazing.
