You have to move past this mindset. You're not supposed to own or buy everything, only what you're interested in.
That is absurd until I saw a worse game. Train Simulator of all games has DLCs that amounts to $6000. I thought I read an extra zero by mistake but wow. Who buys these stuff? Rich train conductors?
Crusader Kings II. Waiting for a complete edition before diving into the game.
I'm not sure what you mean still, Battlefront 2015 had the same DLC scheme as most popular shooters like COD and Battlefield.Compared to the base game?
Same here thats shit is nutsDead or Alive 5 was what came to mind before I even opened the thread. And it's not even so much that there's so much DLC to buy. I don't mind that and I like a lot of the costumes. It's more that console store interfaces are just not designed to be able to handle games with dozens, much less hundreds, of DLCs. It's a major chore to browse and buy DLC and even to download pieces you've already bought.
Don't see them as parts of the game that make not having them means a lesser game, but rather additional stuff to be collected. You are not meant to buy them all, just like actual model train enthusiasts don't actually buy all model train in existence.
In any case, do you actually like every single DoA costumes to begin with?
Diving into Crusader Kings II with all the additional complicated mechanics in place sounds like a really scary proposition. Not to mention, I have doubts that it'd ever be complete.
I agree that Train Simulator's DLCs are ridiculously expensive.
Train Simulator is a platform. The amount of DLC is impressive tbh. The intent isn't to have customers buy all the dlc. The intent is to have any train you might care about available for fans. Your train set analogy works well. If you build a train City etc. Do you get mad that there are 1000s of locomotives compatible with your tracks?I'm of the opinion that Train Simulator is best viewed as a digital train set rather than a game, especially as the base app hasn't changed -- the DLC on offer represents (almost) eight years and counting of post-release support. Someone who bought the game back in 2009 has access to the content expansion options as someone who buys it today.

A few characters, stages, and costumes? Why is it so bad?
What? Out of all the fighting games, PSASBR has very minimal DLC.
Any modern fighting game. DOA5 has to be one of the worst offenders, to your point.
Watchdogs. Someone mad a spreadsheet of everything that was available to pruchase.

Yep, it's not enough to release a new expansion DLC, oh no, they have to break it up into pieces so you also need to buy updated unit graphics, character portraits and music separately. Well, you don't need to but ya know. Eventually I just stopped caring about the DLC altogether. Payday 2 is another one, so much fucking DLC. New characters, new weapon packs, selling new missions as DLC was the breaking point for me.
Never played but Crusader Kings 2 is notorious for this, no?
Any of those Paradox grand strategy games.
Crusader Kings II. Waiting for a complete edition before diving into the game.
My main problem with DLC along with the amount of it and price to content ratio for some of it is that the stuff never gets permanently discounted. When I'm playing through 5+ year old 360 games that are like 8 dollars, there's still multiple 10 dollar or 15 dollar DLC that stays that way.
I really wish DLC would get a permanent discount more often like games do.
Yeah, on the one hand it's great how much support it got, but when your dlc costs about $700 something is not rightDead or Alive 5: Last Round has really obnox--

God damn! $6437.38 for all the DLC?! That's absolutely insane!
Call of Duty, they have the balls to let people pay for map packs when there are lootbox drops to buy. It's ridiculous.
+ dlc and lootdrops in a remaster (modern warfare)
Activision is the worst of them all imo.
The reason I havent bought DOA is this
Never had a problem with the DOA5 DLC model. At least the feature complete game itself with all modes and characters is affordable and rest is just cosmetics. The free to play model of Core Fighters is also a good move.
This is not the case for DOA 5. Now if I can buy every dlc and have it carry over to DOA 6 then that would be lovely. They could just make more dlcs as more DOA games get made.
I'm 99% sure it won't happen as the business is very lucrative especially as there are people who buys everything like me but given the chance, I think that would garner respect from me and everybody else who plans to buy the dlcs. I also understand that it's a hard thing to do since game engine change and all.

Dynasty Warriors 8 had an insane amount of DLC that didn't carry over when it made the jump to PS4. Costumes, maps, cosmetics. Sheesh.
Yeah, browsing the stuff for LittleBigPlanet is a pain in the arse for this exact reason. I don't mind the amount of DLC because it's almost all cosmetic, but actually browsing the store is a goddamn chore.
15 dollars for all cosmetic costumes, 2 dollars per stage, and 5 dollars for 2 dlc fighters is not bad at all, no differen5 then a game like smash and pretty fair.Well I adimtely haven't played many games with a lot of DLC. So based on what I have played, PSASBR contains the most excessive amount of DLC. Doesn't really help how limited on content the base game already is and that Sony never released an "Ultimate Edition" version of the game containing all the DLC.
