Games with the worst load times

Has anyone made mention of the original Motorstorm?

Oh good, there's plenty. What an amazing launch window game, except for the 2-3 minute loads PER RACE. Whether you start it up for the first time or you're retrying.

5 min loading times would have been a luxury, but with a games like these:

Loading times where something between 20-40min.

Oh lordy... I had that game except I was smart to buy the disk drive that cut loading times, but add in switching disks so couldn't wander to far off.

Citizens of Earth. I know it's a throwback, but we didn't ned to have PS1 style load times each time you enter/exit a building.

Battlefield 2 on PC in the beginning. Remember how that would take minutes to load a game and then you weren't even sure whether it wasn't just going to crash.

Contrast on my PS4 was a joke because it was running on a SSD

GTA5 sucks balls on PS3 and PS4 (more so on PS3), even on a SSD it takes around a minute to play (40-50 secs to SP/MP selection and extra 10 secs to be playing SP)

Sonic 06 by far.

You were constantly hit with loading screens that lasted about 2-3 minutes. It wasn't even once per level either, it was when ever you died, when ever you hit another section of the level and so on. Absolutely atrocious.

Painkiller and all its sequels are pretty bad: loading a level take fivesix minutes at least, and even if you die and reload a quicksave on the same map the loading can take more than of a minute.

Battlefield 2 will always be the worst loading I have experienced

on my AMD2800, took atleast 5mins to load a map

battlefield 2 came at a time when the industry was due for a new minimum requirement for system ram. I ended up buying more ram simply due to the horrible loading times and afterwards I could get into maps so quickly I had my pick of vehicle and could make it to the first flag before a majority of other players loaded in.

Soldier of fortune on the Dreamcast had horrible load times. I still remember how loud the disc drive sounded during the load screens.

Try to play king of fighters 99 for the neo geo cd, the game has loading times for

Intro
Select character
Between rounds
Win quote

and all of those has a length of 10-15 seconds AT BEST

Skyrim is pretty bad. It made doing the Thieves Guild jobs a real pain.

Load to get to Riften.
Load to get to the Ratways.
Load to get to The Ragged Flagon. [get quest]
Load to get back to the Ratways.
Load to get back to Riften.
Load to get to Solitude.
Load to get to Addvar's House. [steal item]
Load to get back to Solitude.
Load to get back to Riften.
Load to get back to the Ratways.
Load to get back to The Ragged Flagon. [turn in quest]
Load to get back to the Ratways.
Load to get back to Riften.

That's the loading required for one mini micro quest. You have to do about forty of these to get the One with the Shadows achievement.

It's so dumb how the player is not allowed to fast travel whilst indoors.

I see The Last of Us mentioned, but I don't think that was that bad. It was mostly the one load screen when you started up.

Skyrim on PC has barely any loading, but the console version has some decently long load times.
I think the worst one I've had was Modnation Racers. Basically took a minute to load a race, then exit a race.

Dragons Lair on the C64 was a soul-destroying experience. It took about five minutes to load and when you insta-died for moving the joystick in the wrong direction you had to rewind the tape and do it all over again.
If you somehow managed to guess what the game wanted you to do in the first place and got onto the next area and died, it would send you back to reload the first again.

It's games like this which saw a distinct lack of obese children in our day - we all fucked off outside for a game of football after half an hour.

Before you could install a game to the hdd, out of the games I've played, I think Project Gotham Racing 4 was pretty bad, not only the loading was long but I remember they are a bit too frequent (something like quitting a track would load, and then loading again when selecting and loading track), it's been a while but I think it was 4.

I just remember letting my nephew play it and he was asking why it's so long and I just ended up putting in another game after a few race.

Complaining about load times is so stupid. Just browse GAF while it's loading. You people are just grasping at straws. So much negativity.

The souls games are pretty bad. Bloodborne seems to be no different.

Gta online is the most recent contender. Sad thing is I really enjoy the online aspect of the game, and if it wasn't for some seriously idiotic oversights and convoluted systems it would be great.
