Games you bought Day One and sold Day Two

LA Noire. I sold that piece of shit as soon as I finished it. Thankfully some toad bought it from me at full price.

The only one I can think of is Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. IIRC, I bought it for one system then later found out (after I had opened it unfortunately) that it was noticeably better performance-wise on a different console (Xbox I think) so I took it back to GS the next day and got that version instead.

Turns out the game just sucked in general gameplay-wise compared to Sands of Time so I got rid of it for good after a couple weeks.

-Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for the original Xbox.
-Mario Golf Advance Tour for GBA

Returned them both the day after I bought them. With Star Wars, it was a used copy and was already old by the time I got it, so no big loss there. With Mario Golf, I had played Toadstool Tour on GC for maybe a hundred hours and I was itching for more. I picked up the GBA version but was immediately turned off by the RPG elements.

I've also bought dozens of iOS games that I wish I could have returned.

Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles for the DS

Bought it for $20 on a saturday around noon, 4 hours later I had beaten the game and wonder what this horrible nightmare I had just played was. Returned it and the gamestop employee was bro to give a full refund.

AC3 the thread.

Ugh, god, thanks for reminding me I should have traded this in Day 2. When I first started it, I actually thought it was kind of neat, and didn't see what the fuss is about. Around 2 hours in, I began to loathe it. Ugh, god, I can't believe I still have it. It's not even worth anything anymore.

.

Dude you should see the OT for the Mario Tennis thread, they were salivating for RPG elements.

There would be less of this if everyone stopped taking gaming buying recommendations from gaf.

Or if they looked into those recommendations a little more and considered if the game was something they might like before buying it instead of just going "well if other people like it clearly I have to as well and if I don't they were all lying sacks of shit who rused me in to buying a turd."

FFXIII, actually I sold it the second week. It was my second FF and I avoided all reviews to prevent spoilers. Damn, for a game with the background of FF I never though it could turn out this bad.
I bought it, again, last years to give it a try from other perspective. Still one of the few games I dropped this gen.

Too true

Legend of Mana is still the most disappointing game I have ever bought.

White Knight Chronicles II. I bought it because it was Level-5. Oh man, what a complete bore. Graphics look like early PS2 too. I've never regretted a day 1 purchase more.

Back when my taste was very underdeveloped and I played anything I could get my hands on to expand my knowledge on genres there were a couple day 2 returns, notably on the ps2 : death by degrees, shadow the hedgehog, sonic heroes, yugioh duelist of the roses(which I now kinda have respect for in the sense that its a fairly simple, yet competent card game) BLACK,Mega Man X: Command Mission(which I might enjoy a little more now) and finally star wars
battlefront 2 IM SORRY GAF I JUST DON'T LIKE SHOOTERS PLEASE DON'T HATE ME AHHHH

Valkyries Chronicle on the PS3, loved the art design hated the game, managed to get most of my money back on day 2 tho

I bought Star Fox 64 3D on day one, beat it and returned it the next. I placed it back in the plastic and got all my money back.

The voice changes were just to terrible for me.

Medal Of Honor: Warfighter.

I enjoyed the 2010 reboot a lot. One of my favorite military FPS of this past gen. I think it was partly because it didn't revolve around a launch code that went missing or someone threatening to blow something up. It felt like "A day in the life of-".

I liked all the characters except for Rabbit(player character) for the same reason I dislike most FPS player characters - you're nothing more than a floating gun. I don't care if I'm not making choices, just let my character respond to other in game characters(like Bioshock Infinite).

Anyway, all this rant to say that Warfighter was crap. Haven't seen that kind of U-turn for the absolute worst in a long time

I traded GTA V in at Best Buy a couple of days ago. It had been years since I last sold a game, let alone trade one in. Figured I would cut my losses short, though. Get $40 for it. It sucks losing $20 bucks, but I gave the game a fair shake, and I simply wasn't a fan. Glad to see everyone else having a blast with it, though!

Halo. Bought it with my Xbox and hated it so sold it like a day or two later. Wasn't until it came to PC did I give it another try and really liked it.

I tend to keep all my shit games.

I don't know why, I just do.

If I had games I considered shit, I'd do the same.

On the plus side, they make great cautionary tales and reminders to wait for (multiple) impressions.

Admittedly, Aliens:CM came the closest, and should've been returned Day 1 out of principle, but ended up enjoying what I could anyway. Morbid curiosity on how bad it was also got the better of me.

Sonic_Adventure_DX_cover_art.jpg

Nevermind the $10 this piece of shit was, I played it one night and found it glitchy as hell and just plain boring. Returned it the next day and got my money back.

Was expecting it to be as awesome as Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. :/

I don't sell because I don't really know where to sell but I would have sold Resident Evil 6 and Final Fantasy 8 the day after I bought them. And Grand Theft Auto 4.

Burnout 3 Takedown.

I played the second one to death. Got in the top 10 on the xbl leaderboards for track times and overall (all tracks combined). When I heard there was a third coming I was amped more than you could imagine. Got the game home two days before release, traded it in on release day. The game was disappointing. It took everything that made #2 great and flushed it down the shitter. Being able to ram cars from the rear, the constant rail riding, the lack of thrills from seeing a busy intersection ahead and running the red light, never mind the handling of the cars was nonexistent. It felt like Wipeout and Gran Turismo had a child that was put up for adoption.

I'm not saying it was a bad game, but to me it wasn't a sequel, it was a spin off destruction derby game.

The day after... never. But I did trade in LEGO City Undercover in record time, and thanks to a promotion going on at the time, I essentially received a full refund. Was pretty happy about that.

This game called E.G.G. for Dreamcast but lucky for me EB had an actual return policy so I was able to get a brand new game.

Shadowrun for the 360. I was young and innocent, and somehow thought I would enjoy it despite the mixed to bad reviews. How wrong I was. Told the store it was broken, accepted a gift card for the purchase price, and never looked back.

I'm offended by this.

To be fair character action is kinda a hard genre to just label off in a day, bayo is the type of game that deserves multiple playthroughs and hours of dedication to fully appreciate how deep it is. I mean if a person just dislikes the genre on a fundamental level I understand, but bayo just has so much to offer to character action. Its really something special that I would consider the best of its kind or at least up there with dmc3. But its easy to see how its not for everyone.

Tales of Symphonia

Dont really know why I bought it, but the trade-in guy at GameStop was like "You already beat it?! The fuck!"

Saints Row IV, I was really looking forward to it after playing 3 but I ended up hating what felt like just an expansion pack.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - felt just like the rushed, quick cash-in that it was.

CoD Black Ops2 - I'd skipped the previous few CoDs, and thought I'd give the series another shot. Hated it.
