Games You Love That Bomba-ed

The worldwide sales number for Puppeteer remain to be seen, but reading the Japanese sales numbers made me sad because the games is so damn good. It deserves better sales numbers. A few others I really enjoyed that didn't do so well:

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
No exaggerations, this is one of my favorites games this gen and got sent out to die by Namco. I loved the combat, characters, art style and the world. I know Ninja Theory doesn't get much love here on GAF, but Enslaved is quite good IMO.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky
It's downright criminal how poorly this sold at launch and a goddamn miracle that we're getting SC. Easily one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. Play it now if you haven't already.

What are some games you really enjoyed that bombed sales wise?

The DS Castlevanias. Which led to IGA being pushed to the side by Konami.

Interestingly enough, both Enslaved and Trails in the Sky are being released on Steam.

The latter has been confirmed, but Enslaved App has popped up in the registry with numerous updates.

*sigh*

I'm playing Dawn of Sorrow right now.

Don't tease me like that O__O I would double dip so hard if Enslaved released on PC.

Too Human

Please don't kill me GAF. My favorite loot game of this gen. Blows away Diablo 3 and both Borderlands games in my opinion.

I'm still waiting for my sequel dammit. The ending leaves still so much to tell!! ;__;

Suikoden V. Konami was disappointed with its sales, which were largely due to IV sucking like a black hole. IV had sold well due to how fans loved the first three.

= (

Star Ocean: The Last Hope

The only part I hated was the voice actor for Sarah. Jesus Christ she was the most annoying VA ever.

This gen?

Bulletstorm, Spec Ops: The Line, Brutal Legend, Vanquish, Singularity and Wolfenstein.

Well, I didn't looooooove Singularity and Wolfenstein, but I loved Raven.

I don't know bout Alan Wake if it did well or not, but I think the game deserved a bigger success and better reviews

It was actually very successful once the PC port was released. Before that, it was lukewarm at best.

Unfortunately, the success came too late for Microsoft to greenlight a sequel, not to mention on the wrong platform.

They released a video on all of this when the humble bundle went live.

Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Dragon Age 2 -- I know they didn't sell poorly, but goddamn do people hate them.

The graphics were terrible and the story was sub-par, but this has some of the most fun combat I've ever experience before or since in a Star Wars game. Force choke a guy and while you're holding him throw your lightsaber and cut him in half? Push dudes off cliffs while you shoot lightning when they attempt to force pull themselves back up? The possibilities are endless.

Oh, god, so many. Everything from Clover and Platinum Games (minus Revengeance and I guess Bayonetta), Elite Beat Agents, Mirror's Edge, The Saboteur, Prince of Persona '08, No More Heroes, Killer 7, apparently Theatrhythm, The World Ends With You, and about a million other games.

Not retail, but this bombed pretty hard on release...

I love it, it's the closest we'll get to a HD remake of Crimson Skies and it pains me to know that we'll get the sequel with ground missions....

This bomb still hurts...

Still holding onto a shred of hope that we might see a sequel at some point...

The first game in the series was shit, and probably poisoned the well for this one (along with the fact that core gamer support for the Wii had pretty much dropped off by this point.) Red Steel 2 wasn't a perfect game, but it had some excellent core gameplay, a strong visual style, and was one of a handful of games that showed some potential for motion controls. If it sold enough to get a sequel that spent a little more time developing its mission design, the series would be in a much better place today.
