Games You Play While Multitasking

Are there any games you got through a solid portion of while doing other things, like working at a desk for instance? What kinds of games do you think are especially good for multitasking?

Personally I find most RPGs and strategy games on the DS to be especially good for this. I think I got through pretty much all of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, and significant chunks of Ace Attorney and Advance Wars during classes in college. The handheld games that work the best for this tend to be ones that are turn-based and let you control perform all actions with the stylus. Used to play Picross while cooking breakfast as well.

I imagine similar kinds of games on a laptop (like Civilization and Peggle) might work just as well. Pretty much anything where you can just do a turn, then get back to whatever else while the game does its thing and come back whenever you're turn is up.

I play Dynasty Warriors or do side missions in open world games while I listen to podcasts.

That's about as close as I get.

Only game I usually play at work is Brogue.
It's easy to alt-tab to every now and then.

Also doesn't hurt that I can use my usual home keys to navigate around and stuff. It's discreet I guess I'm saying.

Dunno what it says about me, but I read the title as "Games You Play While Masturbating."

In which case I would have said Bible Black, Bible Black 2, and Let's Meow Meow.

But I would never say that, as that wasn't the question.

Racing/Tennis/Football (most sports games without a story). Can listen to poscast or an audiobook as I play.

Football Manager. Can read a book playing that.

Civ V. Can actively play another game when playing that.

I'll listen to my football podcast (PFW in Progress) when I'm replaying a game or any game or portion of it has little to no story. Nothing better than listening to a podcast while doing something like Bloody Palace for DMC 2 to keep my sanity in tact.

I'm the only one who skipped over this topic and did a double-take, seeing something else entirely? Best part being that my mind kinda went: "It's possible someone did make this topic..." before I correctly read it.

Europa Universalis 3 currently while working.

I can't multitask worth a damn. If I'm doing one thing it's nearly impossible for me to do anything else.

That being said, the Famicom version Final Fantasy II is probably the only game I've multitasked playing. If I didn't I'd go insane. Take two steps: 2 minute battle. Take 2 steps, 3 minute battle. Fuck.

In this case I'd browse the internet and look at the screen every 20 seconds to see if my magic was done hitting all the enemies yet.

I love playing Mario Kart online while listening to the football in the radio, for example, but I'm not sure if that counts as multitasking.

And I used to play a lot of Pokémon at uni classes, specially Battle Factory.

I'd say Pokemon Crystal and FireRed, as I played them a lot when I was in high school, along with a friend. But then I read the thread title more carefully, and realized that wasn't multitasking: I was just simply not paying attention to the classes at all :P

Oh, and Worms multiplayer on an old Nokia 3200. It's amazing how it made the Geography lessons infinitely more bearable!

Pokémon games and Minecraft while browsing the internet or watching streams.

Most slow-paced / turn-based strategy games would apply too.

The only multitasking I can do is listen to podcasts while playing something that doesn't require my full attention (like racing, some puzzle games, and sports).

Anything other than that, no way. Even stuff like turn based strategy games require my full attention, and honestly I'm just surprised people can even watch TV and play games at the same time.

As many have said mostly handheld games. I catch up on anime I'm trying to check out (such as my recently discovered favorite Darker than Black) while playing Devil Survivor Overclocked on the 3DS or dungeon crawl in P3P on my Vita.

As long as the game has no story, or the gameplay doesn't require you to hear what's going on, I usually have a podcast paying.

I'd play more PC games if I could find a good "desk" I could use while I sit on my recumbent bike, but until then I just play stuff on my PS3/360 or on my Vita, so I can play while I bike while I also watch stuff on my DVR :D

pokemons games, i'm almost never not playing a pokemon game when they first come out, it's so easy to grind with no need to look at the screen, occasionally checking on pp :p
