Games you remember, names you don't

Arcade, Side scrolling beat em up - gameplay like Final Fight.

In the begining some guys kidnap a girl and after the leave your character enters the scene and starts the first level. It feels like you are fighting in the top of a castle wall, and you see mountains in the background.

You choose between 2 playable characters, a short guy with two swords and a big guy with a polearm. There's a lso co op option.

Sounds like Blade Master!

There was a Spider-Man game for PC in the (early?) 90's. I don't know if it was official or fanmade. It really sticks in my childhood memory. You swing from left to right over a cityscape that's got kind of a dark background. There's an area with Mysterio over to the far right that you can see but not access. I have not been able to find any info about this game. Anyone have any ideas? I can remember flashes of light and color and vaguely I remember the artstyle but...I don't have more concrete details. :/

The Amazing Spider-Man?

Used to play this one a lot on the C64. Loved the web-swinging. Always makes me giggle when you shoot your web downwards while standing, looks like Spidey's peeing. :D

I can't remember a game Vinny Caravella really liked. I think I saw a quick look of it. It was story rich and had pretty good graphics. You start off in some sort of lab I think. Possibily time travel related but not sure. 1st person perspective, this year. I remember a bombcast saying he kept going on about how good it was but I can't seem to find it. Argh. Please help someone.

SOMA is the only story-heavy sci-fi FPS I can think of this year which has labs near the beginning/throughout.

Truly great game. Give it a go. And it's not necessarily time travel... But i wont spoil it for you. Brilliant story.

I remember playing a game that was i think on xbox360,

strategy turn based with several players. You begun with building roads and villages by placing cards on the map/board on your turn.... And depending on your placement of cards you can turn smaller cities to bigger ones and generate more points. Also if you managed to connect several cities together you can get even more points.

I been serching all over the place but cant find the title please help.

EDIT: Also i think the game is similar to tipple town, and there were limited number of turns at which point game ended and highest scoring person won.

Carcassonne?

There was this awesome-looking PS3 game demoed in a reel before the console came out. It showed a guy engaged in a shootout at a gas station or diner, and he hopped in through the window during it.

What game was this? I assume it never came out.

Hey guys, I'm trying to find the name of this pirate game that was cancelled a while back. I played a PC demo of it around 3-4 years ago. It had a female lead and I think two levels in the demo. The first level was an environment inside of some canyon. It had some platforming and light combat. After that, you boarded your ship and sailed (in space i think?) to this huge town. When you got off the boat and walked a little, there was a house on the left behind a gate you could jump over or you could proceed forward to the town. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

Could it be that there's both colored and black and white versions of this game? I recall playing this but in black and white. In the intro level you could see the final boss/level already but you couldn't reach it yet.

There was a game (indie title, I think) announced not that long ago, in which you're supposed to investigate your creepy ass neighbor's house. If he spots you, you have to get the hell out of there. Looked hilarious. Cartoon-style graphics.

Anyone?

There's an option at the start of the game to choose a video mode (as did many DOS games at the time), so there are two 4 color modes - Tandy and CGA, both displaying that recognizable cyan and magenta look, so there are definitely colors there, but a lot less of them. Or it might be that you were just playing it on a monochrome monitor.

And yeah, I think you can see Mysterio (the final boss) somewhere near the beginning, but I think there were some shenanigans required to reach that screen, like jump off the helicopter and break the game, can't remember.

Probably Hello, Neighbor!

I remember there was this game where you were some kind of agent [not really sure about this one], and there was one part where you were in a park with a woman and you beat a guy who tried to scare you or something, and also there was this part where you had to escape some kind of building and there was a cobra guarding and you had to go another way.
Unfortunately, this is all i remember...

System, genre, 2D or 3D, maybe a rough estimate of the year when you played the game, something distinct or memorable about the visuals, story or setting, does it resemble some other games you know visually and gameplay-wise etc?

I don't know if the game I'm looking for is already released or not. I remember seeing it in an Siliconera article. I believe it was an indie ninja or samurai game with slowmo coming to Steam. Pretty vague I know. I tried looking for it but I didn't found it.

I remember a game on the Atari St where you has to climb up an down beam stalks, and jump between them.

It's not pitfall the game was more vertical, and game play very different.

Onikira?

Again, sadly no. The more games I check, the more I remember about the game. You play a samurai or ninja and fight men in suits and guns in a 2D indie game. And I'm pretty sure you have time manipulation skills.

I think I found it, it's called Katana Zero. Never heard of it before, looks pretty nice.

I remember it was on PC, played it late 2007/early2008 [although I remember it wasn't a new game], 3D, action, had hand combat [not sure about guns, etc]. Unfortunately, all I remember is in the post, so nothing more to go with.

im thinking of a pc only possibly flash based game
basically it was an rpg entirely represented by progress bars
like spreadsheet rpg the game
i think it was in japanese i could be wrong tho.
iirc you just clicked stuff and bars would unlock. that's the whole thing but it was super addictive

Dammit, yes, I've played this. Now where did I get the link from? Maybe RPS?

Edit: Got it! Parameters

There was a game that I played about 20-21 years ago on my friend's PC. I don't remember much, but maybe its graphic style was like Golden Axe and maybe it was a RPG game. there was a talking tree in that game and I remember that we were sailing a boat and suddenly a sea dragon came and ate us!
Please help me to finding its name!

That last bit sounds like something that would be more likely in a point-and-click adventure than an RPG. Could it have been one of the Kyrandia games, maybe?
(Some screenshots of the first) A talking tree would've fit right into them, from what I played of the second.

I have been trying to remember this for the past couple of days. It probably hasn't been released yet. A successful indie developer, who I can't remember, was working on a game with a strange name (might be a number), with minimalist graphics and was about the Heat Death of the universe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_death_of_the_universe

I thought they talked about it on Giant Bomb. I tried googling some but couldn't find anything.

I wonder if you're thinking of Notch's 0x10c? The early alpha footage did look somewhat minimalistic (and it was inherenly in the Minecraft 'blocky' style). It's been indefinitely postponed, so don't go holding your breath!

Edit: Ah, one extra nugget from the Giant Bomb page on it:

Unfortunately, due to a programming error, the ships didn't wake them up and the humans drifted through space for trillions of years, awakening in the year 281,474,976,712,644, where most of the stars in space would be dying out, and one of the primary overarching goals for all players to work on would be finding a way to reverse entropy and prevent the heat death of the universe.

I'm trying to remember a game featuring a boss I have never entirely forgotten. There was a jungle area that may or may not have also been a temple. The bosses head sprung forth from a wall and swung back and forth on a coiled vine like neck that damaged you if you touched it. I think he had a cool theme song but i am not positive.

Aside from being i believe a genesis game I have forgotten the rest of the details and google is no help. I used to play this game at a friend's house and my memories of that age and time are a blur of sonic, hockey ,tmnt and this game unless of course my brain has scrambled my memories and this is just a sonic boss i have remembered badly.

Sounds like Spore Spawn from Super Metroid to me.

Also, here his theme if it helps:

That is sadly not it but I have also done that fight before.

I'm pretty sure this thing was a giant head with a somewhat menacing possibly demonic face. Thw neck attachment thing was more of a defined spiraI im pretty sure. I recall it having a very bouncy and springlike sway to it's motions and how it reacted to the head being hit. I can't however remember if the game was one or two players. I think Two.

Sounds like Streets of Rage 2 to me.

It was a stand-up arcade cabinet, with a game similar to spy hunter. It wasn't spy hunter, though. The cabinet had a strong wheel and a pedal down by the ground. It was a full wheel, not the weird wheel that the spy hunter cabinet had. I played it personally in 88? 89? It wasn't in an arcade. It was in the basement of the apartment building where we lived. I have never been able to find it. I want to say it was road fighter, but I can't find any evidence of that having a stand up cabinet with a wheel, but the game itself sure looks like it.

Trying to remember this PC game I played at my friends about 10 years ago. Think it was a point and click adventure, there was a junkyard and I think the antagonist was this robot who lived there, might have been a robot snake. Also i remember there being a harmonica. Not sure why I though of this all of a sudden but now it's driving me crazy that I can't remember what it was.

So not too long ago I was talking with the same friend I mentioned in this post a couple years ago. It made me think about this game again, so I decided to look it up on Google again.

Turns out the game was "Junkland Jam"

Anyone else heard of this one? There's almost nothing about it online. Not a single YouTube video, and its wiki pages are very short.

Haven't heard of this one, seems it's an edutainment title. Here's a review of the game, it apparently comes with a real harmonica and music sheets with tunes from the game, neat. :)
