Games you wish you bought

Tomba 2.

I adored the first game and always meant to buy the second, just never got around to it until it was to late and disappeared. I guess there's always ebay.

I just bought this for $34.99 in a store.

:lol

As for the rest. Some of those games you can still find for a decent price, so go out and buy them and stop wishing.

For me, Marvel vs. Capcom PS2

Pretty annoying that EA isn't selling or making downloadable versions of the old Origin, LookingGlass, Westwood and Bullfrog games. I do own a copy of ss2 though, heh.

Tell me about it, I don't know what companies are thinking. They are sitting on hundreds (or thousands) of old games that are no longer available for sale. And 99.8% will never be available through any retail channels again, why the hell not just release them on Steam, or GoG or something ffs, I just don't get it. They'll generate a whole lot more money like that than just not being released at all, and one would think any revenue stream would be appreciated, but I guess not? Although in EAs case they'd probably want to stick to their fucking shittastic DL sevice, so they might as well not bother.

I also own a copy of SS2, boxed in mint condition (I'm not mentioning this to make the OP feel sad, honestly)... oh and my brother owns two.

The ones that come immediately to mind are the Klonoa games, the Gamecube version of Ikaruga (though I eventually rectified that with the XBLA release) and Gradius V. Not that I'm the biggest Gradius fan, but hey...it's Treasure.

I just ran across this in the buy/sell thread, thought I'd pass it on. This is a link to an old post of his, but it looks like it's still available.

My folks crazy mother dictated a single-console rule for our house growing up, until we were only enough to buy our own consoles. As such, when we wanted a Genesis, we had to give up our NES. I will always regret having garage sale'd the absolute classics of my childhood. Losing stuff like Castlevania III, Mega Man 2, SMB 3... it breaks my heart.

But, this isn't a 'games you wish you hadn't lost' thread, so I'll get to the point; because we had a Genesis, this meant we couldn't have a Super Nintendo also. As such, I will always regret having missed out on some of the most amazing games ever when they were in their prime;

Chronotrigger, FF6, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Castlevania IV, Link to the Past, Secret of Mana, and about a dozen others.

Luckily, I was able to buy a new SNES years later, and managed to track down most of those. Chronotrigger is one I hadn't bought (Funcoland jacked up the prices on RPGs), so I'm glad that's on the DS now. So this one has a happy ending, at least.

I do regret having never picked up Gunstar Heroes or Phantasy Star IV though.

I wish I would have bought a PS1 instead of sitting out that generation while in college, and I most definitely wish that I would have purchased Castlevania Symphony of the Night for it.

I consider it a crying shame that I did not play this game until it was released on Xbox Arcade.

That was the game I bought with my PS when I got back into gaming in '98 (took around three years off, missed Chrono Trigger, Yoshi's Island, a large part of the intro of 3D console gaming, etc.).

It was an awesome way to get back into it, but I was under the false assumption that high quality 2D console gaming would still be around for a while longer. =[

this topic confuses me

why people post older games I have no clue, how much time do you need to buy a game?

I am just regretting not getting Fable 2 and gears 2, but thats because I have no money for them...

Instead of just "games you don't own but wish you did", I'm going to do "games you saw in the store, didn't buy, but wish you did"...

Mega Man V (Game Boy) -- I remember seeing a copy of this once, ten years ago or so, in EB or Gamestop, cart only for $50. They had Mega Man IV also (cart only, $40), but I have that one... I didn't get it because of the price even though I knew it was worth it and that valuable. I should have; I haven't seen another copy of this amazing game again.

Another Game Boy game I seriously considered getting for years, never did, and haven't seen in a long time was Kingdom Crusade... simple little action/strategy game. I'll buy a copy if I ever see the cart. :)

Pod 2: Speed Zone (Dreamcast) -- sure, I have it now, but I wish I'd bought a copy back when I saw one cheap in 2001 or so... sure I didn't have a DC and wouldn't for years, but... it's Pod. I should have owned it anyway. :)

Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (PSX) -- Saw this in EB one time in like 2000 or 2001 or something, seriously thought about getting it because I love the series and knew that even though I didn't have a PSX or PS2 yet I would sometime and then I'd want to play this... but I didn't get it. :( I have Lunar 1 for PSX now (and it cost a good bit), but not the second; only have the second on Sega CD. (I know the second one is better on Sega CD, but even so, I want this anyway...). If I saw it now it'd be more than I saw it for then for sure.

Oh, and when I got my PSX in early 2006 I had to decide between Persona 2 and Rhapsody... wanted to get one, but wasn't sure which. I got Persona 2 which is a great game (score-wise better than Rhapsody for sure) and sells for a lot more now than Rhapsody which is still around the $25 it was at then, but the constant grind in Persona 2 tired me out fairly fast. I'd have actually played Rhapsody more, I bet... but I don't know. I would have been nice to have both, but I couldn't afford that then.

Gradius V (PS2) -- saw this in Gamestop earlier this year for relatively cheap. Why in the world didn't I buy it immediately? Sure I didn't have that much money with me and it'd have meant buying not much else, but... it's Gradius, it's Treasure, it's amazingly good, I don't know if I'll ever see it for that price again... stupid. :(

Pikmin 2 -- Rented the first one and found it annoying, so with the second I waited until it got cheap... but it never did, and now it's hard to find and I wish I had it. Oh well...

For other GC games, I considered getting Cubivore once, but didn't. Haven't seen another copy of that in a long time... I also keep meaning to get Tube Sliders, but haven't yet. I will eventually...

As far as PC games go, honestly I don't know if I can think of anything offhand... um... a couple of years ago I'd have said "Not getting the Quest for Glory Anthology and Quest for Glory V", but then I found them cheap locally (the same goes for Ogre Battle 64, on the N64). There's lots of stuff I at least kind of wanted but didn't get, though. I won't try to list it all. (Arcanum, Outwars, Starsiege, Perimeter, etc, etc -- played the demos of many, but not the full games...)

... I've only played the demo of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, one of the best games of its kind ever... that's pretty sad. :(

...Buying the sadly mediocre SimCity 3000 instead of Baldur's Gate in early 1999? That's something I rectified later that year, though (by buying BG), so it doesn't really count.

One I don't think I've seen, but absolutely would if I found it, is the PC version of Enclave...

Ex Ranza for MegaDrive. If I had bought it when it came out, it would've easily become one of my top-favs. Now it's still a great game, but not the same thing. I bought Jungle Strike instead. Damn you, EA!

...well, I ended up buying Perfect Dark, one of the best game in the history of gaming, but still, Starcraft 1vs1 on my tv would have been so fun ;(

Radiant Silvergun and Panzer Dragoon Saga at release, not years later for much more money.

Also I really wish I got to buy (and play!) some of those classic PC RPGs back in the day... like the original Fallouts, the original Ultimas complete with all the maps and trinkets and stuff... ditto for the Infocom text adventures and their "feelies".

Ys Book 1+2 for Turbo CD I really wish I could have bought and played back in the day as well... I have a feeling I'd have been totally blown away by the presentation and (especially) the music, was so ahead of its time back then.

i was such a huge pso fan, when the third game was revealed to be a card game i was so let down and disgusted i didnt buy it out of principle. :lol now that the wounds have healed (and because of the dearth of ps games since), im ready to have an open mind.

i also wish i bought version 2. i didnt bother with it because the dc was dead at that point and the ps2 was in full force.
I had tons of fun with III,hours of time, not what everyone expected but what is nowadays?

After forgetting about this thread, I looked on Amazon and found the Episode III is only $19.79 new. If only I&II+ was as cheap ($148.48 new).

Should be picking it up some time soon. (Will probably get I & II+ used)

After playing it almost a decade later when it came out on XBLA, I really wish I had purchased Symphony of the Night back when it released. I dunno why I didn't since I always liked 2D Castlevania, I think it must have released when I was too busy to notice it and then it became a rarity.

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 (PS3 Version)
I haven't been able to find it in my country

Is ICO worth money? 'Cause that was one shitty game. I don't really know why you would want to own it.

- Klonoa
- Tomba
- Bust a Groove
- Guardian Heroes
- Intelligent Qube (chick right next to me snatched it up while we were browsing through a used game pile. Very disheartening.)

Oh, I wanted to pre-order. I loved Lunar 1, but I didn't have enough money back then and it was just way too expensive to ask as a gift on the spot.

I just googled this expecting to discover a cool new game, but it just ended up being Ranger X. I feel dumb.

All of the Panzer Dragoon games. At the time I didn't really read VG mags so I didn't know what was "in" on the Saturn. If Nights hadn't come with that cool controller, I would have missed that too. :lol

Off the top of my head ones that come up for me are.....

Super Mario 64
Final Fantasy VI
Chrono Trigger
Grandia I & II
Skies of Arcadia
Soul Calibur
Ico
Shadow of the Colossus
God of War I

Its weird because Suikoden II is one of my favorite RPGs ever, and this one looks like it's closer to that than III and IV were. I'm sure I'll get around to it someday, once I'm in the mood for another 60-hour epic after Disgaea 2.

Also, I wish I'd had some form of Bubble Bobble when I was younger. That game's a true classic.

Pikmin 2, when it was affordable. (Now I am glad I waited.)

The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. I never could find it. I may still drop the cash for it if I do.

Shining Force 3. Panzer Dragoon Saga. Hell, a Saturn (still haven't taken the plunge).

The Fire Emblem games for the GBA. Now they're very expensive.

That's not such a long list, though. Overall I've been very lucky and have found copies of the more obscure games I wanted (Crusader of Centy, Shining Force CD, Hybrid Heaven, the Lunar games, etc.).

EDIT: Wow. I already posted in this thread :lol

Games aren't magic unicorns. If there's a game you wish you bought, buy it. Nothing is unavailable unless you have a jonesing for an NES tournament cartridge or something.

That seems a bit extreme for differing tastes. Or was something in that trolling?

Time is a factor, you know. There are only so many hours in the day for leisure when you have work/school to keep you busy.
