Gamescom 2015 GAF Meet-up Thread

*Note this OP is not as flashy maybe but that is on deliberately to make sure mobile users who come from other countries can open the thread on mobile with out much data.*

Wanted this to go up like a month ago but man I just had so much to do its insane.
Very sorry about this Gamescom GAF next year I really hope things will come together sooner .

Q&A

Why there?
Great for everyone to get to via the trains or walking when your already inside the city.

Its a bar in a great location on one of the main squares of Köln.
Its excellent for groups small or large and we can all sit outside (like most years) they have giant outside tables and great staff.
Fine beers and open to late.

Free beer/open bar?

Sadly I'm just a one man no backing from any organization so I just don't have the money to make this happen.
Last year a few gaffers picked-up the tap and payed together (with was amazing btw), just keep up with what you order and make sure you can pay for what you order.
Thank you for understanding.

We have been there many times before it has always been great.
And last year the gaffers that made it out had a fantastic time and we made great friends!

Well I'll be arriving in Germany early wednesday morning and my trip is actually to meet some friends and then visit gamescom on thursday and friday with a couple of people from Destiny GAF.

I could come and meet you guys on wednesday but I won't be able to get into the exhibition as I don't have tickets for wednesday.

Actually Im not that much of a fan of Kölsch myself, though living near Cologne...Once you find a brand you like you have to stick to it, cause there are like endless of them, and some taste really bad

There are different types of Kölsch. Früh, Reissdorf, Gilden, Sion and Gaffel Kölsch.

I would recommend visiting the Malzmühle, where you can try sorts that are not available outside Cologne.

Personally I'm more a fan of bavarian beer as Paulaner and some unknown brands, that you can only buy in the Allgäu region.

what do you recommend a visitor to do who has been visiting gamescom since 2009? i did a lot of various stuff in the past years and wanted to see a different point of view. I dont drink so bars are out of the question, but restaurants, cafes, historical places, shopping areas, etc are all welcome

obviously stuff like Hohe Str and Dom have been done

I even went to a FC Koln match a few years ago and the experience of a bundisliga game was awesome! they lost 4-1 but the crowd was insane o.o

He is Dutch, but he might still slay Dutch as well. I can't be 100% sure. Personally haven't witnessed the slaying yet.

IIRC commuter trains stop soon after midnight, 1-2AM but don't quote me on that.

Does anyone know how long the trains / subway run in Cologne?

Trams (S-Bahn) usually stop around 1:30 AM and resume around 4 AM

But we've a lot of different tram types (Straßenbahn, U-Bahn, S-Bahn....) with different service times. May I know where you need to go and I can find out for you.
