Does anybody have that one lunatic's post which went something like "HOW MANY DEVICES HAVE YOU MADE THAT SOLD 69K UNITS IN THE US IN ONE MONTH?" from an old NPD thread?
oh shit I need this one please!

Thanks, added this to OP.Quick and dirty translation. The German text is pretty poorly written, too, so I can't fault Google Translate for its results.
So basically, in very round numbers:
Japan: 850K
U.S.: 700K
EU: 700K
As I said in the last NPD thread, I have no idea what Sony does at this point. Waiting until they can make a graceful exit is simply too painful to contemplate. Trying to cut the price and competing at the level the market would accept (if it would accept it!) would hurt their bottom line tremendously. Simply killing it would be extremely embarrassing, and ironically would bring the system more notice from the wider public. Best solution I have is to retreat from all other regions except Japan, and keep it a system they nurture in their home territory. Let the hardcore import it if they want it.
Ironically, Japan is the territory they have no chance in right now because the announce support is extremely western heavy.
Yeah, I'm mostly figuring they're taking a bath on exchange rates going outside of Japan. Maybe it's just best to blow the whole project up and pretend it didn't happen.Ironically, Japan is the territory they have no chance in right now because the announce support is extremely western heavy.

Ouch. The most important mistake was to lose sight of the younger audience, a mistake they want to make right again. According to Bassendowski they want to change the direction of PS Vita marketing to focus on a younger audience and they want to improve their presence in corresponding media.

I visited my local game store today and every single employee was wearing a PS Vita T-Shirt. They even move the whole section (with a demo station) to the front, I don't know what's the strategy for the next holidays but it seems that they're going to rely a lot on Madden, AC and Call of Duty.people in america still don't know it exists

Simply the most desirable handheld yet

Not bad.
Any chance the 2.2 is shipped from end of June?
Especially if the PS4 is expected next year(I still believe 2014). If things don't get better come the end of this year then how do they go forward supporting a PS3, Vita and PS4 because focus will be shifted away from the Vita for the arrival if 2013 is when the PS3 is expected.
One last hurrah this holiday season and if that doesn't maintain a boost in sales, it'll be naturally phased out.
Sony may not be losing money on each PSV system, and in fact may be making money. Good for them! But every GameStop in the U.S. has section of wall space that is effectively dead weight. Same for Target and Wal-mart and Best Buy and every other retailer. With sales under 50K per month right now in the U.S., that's not a business that those partners are going to support for long.Gemüsepizza;41165805 said:Can you back up your "solution" with financial data? I agree. One holiday to see if they get any kick at all with some bigger games out (CoD, AC) and then push it out to sea.

If they can't get any kick this holiday, I don't see how they can get any continuing software support.
Sony can't carry the system on their own.
Holy. Shit.

So, sure, maybe each unit is profitable. That's not really the point, though. It may not be profitable enough for everyone involved.
they really need a price cut. A massive one. No way they're gonna penetrate the market without it, or with a small one. Situation is desperate
Cool down there, Hoss. We know how you feel. Just keep it cool.I'm losing my mind here
No. Vita needs exclusive, original games.

so 2.3 shipped @ middle of august ?
it doesn't change much...
