GameSpot: Ubisoft is working on other games for NX besides Just Dance 2017

You want to try again? Lol

They've had BGE 2 on the cards for a while now and have been saying that forever now. Production is probably halted because because Wild is a higher priority for Ancel right now as he founded a whole new studio just to make it. This isn't hard confirmation. Try again.

Opps nm. He was saying it's never coming out? lol

The game was announced almost a decade ago with one and only one CG trailer. Even if the game is coming out Ancel is too busy working on Wild, a game we've seen more of. So we're probably quite a ways out from BGE 2 if Ancel is still working at Ubisoft by then.

BabieX

But no really, it's time for ZombiU 2.

And this time I trust that we will all buy it. Do not support stupid games at launch, support talent only.

Wii U was a lesson. Let's learn from past mistakes.

Yves Guillemot said exactly the same thing about Wii U.

Ubisoft: Project Café is “a fantastic platform,” predicts “it will be extremely successful”

Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has today commented on the forthcoming reveal of Nintendo’s Wii successor, codenamed Project Café,

“The platform Nintendo is coming with is really a fantastic platform. We think it will be extremely successful,” Guillemot stated.

And you know what? With Wii U being as disastrous as it is, Ubisoft has released way more games on it than any other Western third-party developer. They have also provided on-par support throughout all its early years, and was a single major Western publisher to do so. There's also that little thing called Just Dance which makes grand money on Nintendo platforms...

So, at the very worst, we at least can expect Ubisoft to not pull an "unprecedented partnership" and to provide NX with plenty of games.

Ubisoft's support of NX means nothing more than casual fair with maybe, just maybe a little bit of core launch support then fucking off.

This is great news. Hopefully we get one or two good games out of Ubisoft.

Nice 180 in the end lol

They've pulled out from providing core Wii U support way later than in launch months - in fact, they were the very last of Western publishers to do so. Don't diminish their attempts to support the system that was crashing and burning.

Hopefully South Park is coming to NX. Since it got delayed till 2017.
Not only do I want this, but I want a dedicated South Park episode related to the NX. 10 years ago the Wii episodes of South Park were sooooo good. And.....relevant. I can't tell you how much I wanted to freeze myself to get to the Wii launch faster. And I'm feeling that level of NX hype right now.

A new Rayman game (not Rabbids) along with Rayman being in Smash NX would be pretty great.

I would however like Red Steel 3 (in the vein of RS2) the most out of basically anything else Ubisoft could make for NX. I say this as a pretty big Rayman fan, Red Steel 2 was THAT good.

Rayman Collection. All of Origins levels remade, all the Legends Content and 30 new levels. I'd buy it.

I love your sarcasm there, but you have quite a point. Ubisoft launch games on Wii, DS, and 3DS were pretty crappy. On Wii U, at least the Assassins Creed port and ZombiU supposedly were somewhat decent, with the other titles being rather crappy.

There's no supposedly about it - those two were good. From memory Ubisoft released another half a dozen Wii U launch titles, which were not good at all.

Hoping for a new Rayman but after what happened with Legends couldn't see them going full exclusive.

As I recall, the Wii U version massively outsold the other versions so I can see them rethinking the multiplat route, and an exclusive being a possibility.

I agree

Really hope one of them is the rumored BG&E2.

No thanks. A good 2D platform that actually feels like a Rayman game would be better this time. Or a 3D one, i'm still waiting for a "sequel" to HH.

If they have to do a remake the usual Rayman 2 would be a better option

From another interview with Yves Guilemot by GameSpot:

GS: Your risk-taking is exemplified by ZombiU, which was a core game on a brand new Nintendo console. You said earlier that NX is exciting, you clearly connect with Nintendo on a more personal level. What is it about them that engenders this kind of faith?

YG: What we see is, players are more open when new hardware is coming. So we have the chance to come with something we have never done before, because we know that if we are the first there, people will try our game and maybe we'll be able to get into that new genre. As our people wanted to do a game like ZombiU, they were happy they could just use the Wii U to do it. For us, a machine is a tool of expression, but when everything become stable it's less open to innovation. We always want innovation.

However, if you try something a little new and it's not perfect, you come back quickly to what you know and works. As a gamer, if you change to new hardware, you have no references, so you're looking at what people are saying are [the best games] and then trying them.

But if you have an [established] machine and there's all the experiences you know on there already, you know you're going to miss some of those to try something new, so you're less inclined. For us, we know opportunities to try something new are a lot more rewarding when it's a new machine.

GS: So far you've announced Just Dance for NX. Can we expect Ubisoft to explore new ideas in the same way you did with ZombiU on the NX too?

YG: We are working on some projects; you will see something at some point soon.

Again, more on experimentation and taking fresh approaches (with the added note of getting back to tried and true formulas in case of an underperformance), and additional confirmation of "some project" that we'll see "at some point soon."

Something more, this time from IGN

http://uk.ign.com/articles/2016/09/...rent-experience-to-other-consoles-ubisoft-ceo

Speaking to IGN at an Ubisoft event yesterday, Guillemot - who has previously expressed his admiration for the upcoming console - explained specifically why he was excited for NX:

"I think, once again, the interface is very attractive," he said. "It's a machine that will be easy to use for all gamers. They have built in something that will give us chance to really have a different experience from what exists today. That's what I like - that they come with something new that is adapted to what we actually want now."

During a separate presentation, he called it "a fantastic machine", going to on to explain that "I think it's a really new approach, it's really Nintendo, coming with something new again. We love it."

[...]

Nintendo's last home console, Wii U, has been a sales failure. When we asked if Guillemot saw the NX as a step back towards the Wii's more inclusive (and financially successful) approach, he said:

"It's difficult to answer that [before NX is revealed]. What we see is that Nintendo has learned from the Wii U. All publishers learn from what they do, and then come with something new and more attractive, which I think is the case here."

Edit: I hope to see some sweet classic Splinter Cell remasters.

After the Rayman stint they pulled I'm not taking one sentence of theirs at face value.
That bit them in the ass anyway. Legends underperformed all around, arguably except the Wii U version. There's a strong argument that the game might've sold better overall as a timed exclusive / staggered multi as originally planned.
