GameStop: Kinect Will Outsell Move This Holiday

i'd be interested to see a link.

all i saw out of the PC drivers was the both the depth sensor and vga camera operated at 640 x 480 which contradicted previous info. i heard someone in the kinect thread saying the depth sensor was capable of 60hz at 320 x 240 but i don't know where they were getting that from.

So the depth sensor is 640x480 and not 320 x 240? Anyone have a link?

Still trying to get the move controller by itself from Amazon... they've been sold out everytime I visit the site. =/

My local GameStop have several used one. If you are in the US might want to check them. I don't think any stores in my area got the stand alone controller back in stock. They have plenty of starter set and bundles.

If Kinect is going to / is selling so well, how come Microsoft hasn't released a PR declaring how much it sold in its first day / week / 10 days since release?

As usual for this generation, people are underestimating Wii.

Look at the top 10 on Amazon.co.uk now, and you'll see 3 separate Wii hardware Sku's in the top 15, plus both Just Dance titles in the top 10.

The point is that with Kinect MS are now competing directly with Nintendo, who have massive brand awareness in the casual sector. Judging Kinect's success versus Move is as usual avoiding the elephant in the room.

Move has always been a disruptive product, whereas MS goals for Kinect have always been about breaking out of the core-gamer market into wider areas.

The problem with selling to the casual market is you can't get by on just saying "it's better than the competition". They don't care about the technology, they just want something that works.

The Wii isn't going anywhere.

Kinect is something fresh, at least in the eyes of Ellen viewers, and has a no barrier entry. Microsoft is treating it as a new console.

Move is a harder sell with less promo but wraps up great graphics and 1:1 very nicely. Sony is treating it as a peripheral.

All of these products justify their existance. It becomes interesting when you look at the prices of software, Move games are priced lowest when Microsoft is the one targeting casuals hardest. While Move covers the bases from casual to hardcore (Socom, KZ3), Kinect has yet to prove it can provide a hardcore experience. That'll be the most fun to watch...will this successfully umbrella hardcore gamers with hardcore software.

The one with the short end of the...tri-stick...is Nitendo imo. K&M are being summed up as "Wii, but better" and the differences of graphics/capabilities are pretty great.
