GameStops in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Has anyone else had the chance to check one of these stores out?

My kids are constantly asking to go back with friends to hang out at GameStop to play games. I'm still curious how they're making profit off this, but the new designs has been super popular with all the boys in our neighborhood.

Tournament nights for prizes would be a fun community event. Kind of wish this sort of thing existed when I was a kid I would have loved it.

That was me. Get off of your damn cell phone and drive!

It was the year 2000, this was my cell phone. musta been checking my finances.

So GameStop is transforming into cybercafe's.
They were a big thing where I live between 2000 to 08 to play Counter Strike with friends.
The thing was that internet was expensive, had a lot of lag and low speed.
Tube monitors were heavy so few people wanted to do LAN partys.

They started to die when internet coverage grew, prices lowered and bandwiths increased. So, everyone could just play from their houses instead

Looks nice. I would definitely have loved to have something like this near me when I was younger.
But yeah, I don't get how this will make them money. Maybe it's a test now and and they intent to charge for it later, but I don't know how many people would stick around if you have to pay, unless they make it really cheap.

Its an old business trick where you try to keep people inside for as long as possible because the chance of them spending money increases. Dairy in the back of stores, casinos don't have clocks so you lose track of time, etc. In a way its comparable to websites using MAU metrics over sales because they can use ads to fund, now gamestop just needs to sell ads somehow.

I'd love to play some Mario Kart 8, Duck Game, or shit, even Killer Queen Black with some randos.

Might even a good place to make new friends.

Same reason why Youtube, Netflix and the like disable your clock if you use their mobile apps to watch a video. They want you to keep watching and not realise the time.

If Netflix wanted you to keep watching they wouldn't ask if you're still watching after 3 episodes but sure, troll fail.

Netflix wants you to watch. They don't want you to leave Netflix running for hours on end when no one is home.

And seems like a stupid thing to accuse someone to be trolling about.

Yeah, I got no idea what he's on about. I was being serious.

If you use Netflix or Youtube app on an iphone and you tap the screen to bring up the UI, they both have the clock disabled. This is a conscious decision by these companies.

Not sure why he's accusing me of trolling. I was agreeing with him.
