GameTrailers Countdown: Top 10 3DS games

It's a bit soon for a Top 10 for a system just 3 years old, no?

Given the conversation about 3DS every week in the Media Create threads is usually about when Nintendo will release its replacement, I don't think so. It shouldn't be considered a final list though, they actually say this is a list of games you can play before Smash Bros. hits.

List needs more Pushmo and Crashmo. But then again, I'd be surprised if GameTrailers has ever even heard of them.

Damn, I haven't touched my 3DS in a while and I can't decide between 3dLand, Mario Kart 7, and Pokemon X/Y.

Anyone have any help? Im looking for something with replay value, and longevity but still fun. I know the MK leads more to replayability with Pokemon being longevity but Super Mario 3D Land looks like a ton of fun. I don't ever use the 3d function though.

as much as i love pokemon x & y the game is just bad

still having to use the dpad to move around
i cannot turn off thoose damm skates
game is to easy
no option of a hard mode
less pokemon only 69
no after story content

I've played only a few 3ds games and basically anything from the top 10 (I'll play only 4-maybe 5 of them), but absolutely lolnope@people saying "Kid Icarus should be #1".

Very good game but controls are a no-no, I seriously hope that it's not the best game I'll play on my 3ds...

I'd go with 3D Land. Its the systems flagship game, also the 3D isn't required. I beat it without 3D and had no frustration.

Play Mario 3D Land. Awesome game, and once you are done with it in about 15 hours you can move to Pokemon.

Why does the face look nice but the hand looks all shitty?

Remove Bravely Default and put Kid Icarus at #1 and I'm okay with the list. Assuming the list is for non-ports and exclusives.
Haven't played SMT4 or Pokemon so I don't know about them.

And we're done. I guess some people still hate the controls...

You can't actually blame them, though it's a very fast game and I don't think that a two-sticks control-scheme would have worked better.

You know what would've been perfect to play Kid Icarus with? Wiimote.

I hate you, Nintendo.

Kid Icarus and Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies are the most notable omissions but I can't pretty much complain about GT's list. It's solid. Glad to see Fire Emblem: Awakening in #2.

I'm not sure if GameTrailers knows what Top 10 is...

Have these people actually played SMT IV or do they just rate it by internet hype? It's pretty abysmal, especially if you compare with any of the previous games.

How can these fucking Pokemon games be so highly regarded. They keep failing to deliver a good single player campaign or introducing actually interesting mechanics while also being simply a disappointed in the technical aspects, this one in particular.

I'm on that side. Hated those ground controls.
I can't really blame you, but it's definitely not as bad as it seems. The stand helps too. But oh well, I hope they plan to release a definitive Wii U version and better controls in order for people to appreciate that little gem...

And like almost everyone else, the lack of Kid Icarus is disturbing. Oh well, when the list is redone in a year or two, it'll get rightfully added on with Smash Bros

I played Kid Icarus without the circle pad pro and just couldn't enjoy the controls of the game, it needed a second analog stick badly. (maybe the Vita spoiled me). I have a circle pad pro now and i will try it out again sometime.

Personally would have put OOT 3D and SFIV on my list. I didn't really like Pokemon that much, and BD is amazing then a train wreck so that goes off as well.

I'm also assuming we are taking retail and not downloadable.

Heh i agree with the list all of those are great game sure they are missing some but hey it's only top 10 they can't fit eveything.

My list would look something like this:

1. Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
2. Super Mario 3D Land
3. Kid Icarus: Uprising
4. Pokémon X/Y
5. Ace Attorney 5
6. Luigi's Mansion 2
7. Fire Emblem: Awakening
8. Mario Kart 7
9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf
10. Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright

Yeah, I just saw the video.

But man, the absence of Kid Icarus is glaring.

Every time I see FE: Awakening being regarded as some kind of amazing game I die a little bit inside and it just reaffirms my belief that Konami should localize Love Plus.

dat hyperbole

Damn, lots of people hating on Bravely Default in this thread. It's the only 3DS game I have as of yet :P

Chapter 8 is ridiculously hard (side-quests on hard difficulty) to the point where I've been close to throwing my 2DS into the floor, sheesh. Maybe I should just have skipped them, but I only have one fight left.

What about Chapters 5-8 make BD worse? Note that I haven't played the full game yet. So no major spoilers pls.

Endless narrative cycle. If you're in the game predominantly for the combat and the challenge associated with it, you probably won't have a problem with it.
