Can't go wrong with simplicity! Plus all are god awesome.

I liked the list, none really got a HELL NAW from me, well I was puzzled by Arceus.

Tangela and Mr. Mime would be my picks from Gen 1 at least.

The one out all Pokemon as the most pointless? Huh, that's a toughie. Not to mention that even I'm having trouble remembering every single Pokemon, well when you have 721 not counting Mega Evos, that's not a surprise! lol

Maybe the ones that stick out the most: Sunkern and Sunflora, Sunkern is THE weakest Pokemon and it's not like Sunflora is anything special at all.

Ordinarily I wouldn't question why a Pokemon isn't wearing a belt but WHY ISN'T SCRAFTY WEARING A BELT? HE'S SAGGING HIS FREAKING PANTS

HE IS A HARDCORE GANGSTER. LOOK AT THIS POKÉDEX ENTRY:

Pokémon X said:
It pulls up its shed skin to protect itself while it kicks. The bigger the crest, the more respected it is.

HOW IS HE SUPPOSED TO REFLECT ATTACKS WITH A BELT GETTING IN THE WAY OF HIS ELASTO-DEATH PANTS

Now that I have gotten over the shock of Jynxsus being 3, let alone being on the list at all, here is my list:

- Qwilfish
- Dunsparce
- Stanler
- Girafarig
- Finneon
- Luvdisc
- Tangela
- Unown
- Druddigon
- Pansage/pour/sear

did i lie the answer is no

Why is Lugia flying/psychic when it spends all its time at the bottom of the ocean and is the "guardian of the seas" or something.....

Lugia should've been water/dragon not Palkia, what the hell does Palkia have to do with water?

The most pointless Pokemon ever is Grumpig. No one likes him and I guarantee that everyone reading this post right now forget it even existed.

Because shut up, that's why.

For real though, Water/Flying or Water/Psychic would've made more sense.

Nobody forgets Spoink though, Spoink is amazing.

Gourgeist, Arceus, and Phione are all terrible entries (especially when Pokemon like Luvdisc and ╓ exist), but I love Kyle Bosman so instead of saying "awful list, would not watch again, rawr i'm going to go to bed lonely again tonight", I'll just concede that a 70% still isn't too bad.

I always think it's funny when people bring up Voltorb and Electrode. They're supposed to look like pokeballs, they're supposed to have shitty designs. That was the whole point of them.

yeah. no.

i dont think the 'whole point' of them was to have shitty designs.

pokemon are monsters. like in dragon quest and such.

as such they can look like anything. shitty or non shitty. mechanical or none.

theres literally no point arguing with someone about the original 151 pokemon.

I have not needed to inflict HIS wrath upon anyone yet.
I hope it continues this way.

Unrelated to HE, but there's a lot of Vanilluxe hate in the thread.

Yeah this is what i NEVER get with these arguements. Pokemon are monsters therefore why cant they take many different forms?

I always thought they should introduce a third type, and fix all those Pokémons that should obviously have another type, like Lugia (water) and Gyarados (dragon)

context, friend

technological limitations and all that

within the context of Pokemon games on the Gameboy how would you even successfully make an item mimic Pokemon that isn't a two toned rock

shitty might be the wrong word for it but they're deliberately super simple to suit the tech

Arceus plays both a huge role in the pokemon universe and is generally viewed as one of the best uber pokemon on the competitive scene (some versions, that is).

Not entirely sure how it is pointless. Should probably watch the vid.

Arceus is both the most consequential and the most utterly pointless addition to the series 'backstory' in its history. Its own fucking lore kept it from cropping up as an event Pokemon. And it's overpowered. Yeah, it's one of the best uber Pokemon. It is the best uber Pokemon.
It's all fourteen of the best uber Pokemon.
Fifteen now I guess.
It's just a terrible, overpowered, hideous, unnecessary thing crammed into Diamond and Pearl which compared to the rest of the series is packed to the gills with by far the most extensive (and mostly throwaway) roster of legendarily in the entire series.

I'd say Magicarp but we all know what MagicKarp turns into lol

Yo that Pokemon with the loose pants reminds me of Tyrogue, the pre-evol form of Hitmonchan I think from Silver/Gold.

In terms of designs, I'd say Gen II and III probably have the highest percentage of pointless and unmemorable 'mons. Delibird, Corsola, Quilfish, Sunkurn's line, Clamperl's line, Castform, double battle demonstrators Volbeat/Illumise and Plusle/Minun; both generations could almost be culled of the misfits and combined to create one large, Gen I and V-esque group of Pokemon. Same with Gen IV and VI to a lesser extent.

Amazing.

I have never seen that pokemon before but damn that's a design that makes me want to catch it.

I wish Aurorus was stronger so I could use it online... it looks really awesome, but it has too many weaknesses for your opponent to exploit :(

Aaaand I finally just now pinpointed exactly what it is about newer Pokemon artwork that bothers me compared to the old. I know that's not official artwork but it shares one big similarity with it

Back in the day if a Pokemon had fucking line mouth that shit would 99% of the time remain wide open in artwork to emphasize its own unique shape or at the very least distinguish itself in some fashion.
Nowadays? Here's a cool silhouette for an interesting creature. Oh, it need a face? Let me flip a coin to decide if it's worth my time or if I should just consult the anime cutout templates in the back office

I usually dislike these click bait "Top x lists", but this one especially pisses me of a bit. Why, you ask? Well, because there is no such thing as a pointless Pokémon. Each and every one of them has fans and people who like to use them, plus every single one of them was uniquely created with a purpose by the developers at Game Freak. Obviously no one likes every Pokémon. I personally dislike Charizard (yes, you read that right), but I don't think it is a pointless Pokémon. Same goes to extremely unpopular other ones like Garbodor, Jynx, etc.

I agree with a lot of these - Qwilfish, Dunsparce, Stantler, Druddigon for sure. I'll say Unown too because even though having a lot of forms and a weird ruins-only location as its "thing," Unown is just awful.

Luvdisc=Heart Scales, which is what I am sure kept them off.
The Pan/Semi line fills a niche in Gen 5 in-game, which I think is enough to keep them off.
Tangela/Growth are awesome wtf.
I actually like Girafarig and Lumineon's designs so I have to keep those off.

I would add:

Chingling/Chimecho. Chimecho was terrible upon introduction in gen 3, and in gen 4, when we got extra evolutions for everyone, it got a pre-evo. Awesome.

Sunkern/Sunflora. It's like a Magicarp/Larvesta that still sucks after it evolves.

Agree with the original list on Phione, not sure why it needs to exist

Fake Pikachu line. Maybe it's cheating to throw all of these assholes together, but they all obviously have the same motivation and we never needed any of them.

Regigigas. Not clear why the Regis needed a leader, let alone one even more terrible than they are.

There should be a law... Oak's Law? A discussion of Pokemon will slowly diverge into generation wars.

Also why are people shitting on Gourgeist? Its pretty much the Pokemon equivalent of a pumpkin plus friggin Sadako!

Agree on Arceus, and by the way Klefki is the shit, belongs nowhere near this list.

Thankfully it isn't.

I don't really care about the mythology behind it, I'm just talking about fighting a living key ring and how absurd it is. Even for pokemon standards. I can ignore a lot of things but even I have a threshold where I just say "...come on".

But it's technically not a living key ring.

It's a sauropod, a slim mouth on a tiny, tiny head, though.

I agreed with your post until you said 'swag'. Lugia is pretty terrible now.

i don't have much of a problem with arceus, just the generation he was introduced. till this day feel like gen 4 is the weakest entry in the series. from a games standpoint, and how confusing as shit the lore was in that generation. i got back into pokemon via x and y, but i'll be damned if i told you i understood the lore after gen iii. it seemed pretty easy to understand and follow up to that point. i also don't think the god of pokemon should even be obtainable, but that's just me.

plus there are way too many ugly legendaries in gen 4. lugia am cry.

Sorry for the gif overload fellas

Gen IV is definitely my least favorite. Hardly any of the new designs really did anything for me, and goddamn we did not need fucking generic, uninspired evolutions for a dozen plus old pokemon. I can't use Magneton anymore because as much as I love him I know I'm not using his full potential unless I evolve him into that stupid-ass Magnezone

On the opposite end, I also think that the newer designs try to incorporate newer tech too. I mean the whole Klink line was obviously made for Gen V to go "HEY WE HAVE IDLE ANIMATIONS NOW". (The other reason for them existing is to be a Unova equivalent of the Magnemite line)
