Gametrailers: Top 5 Metal Gear Songs

Completely agree with #1 and #2, The Best is yet to Come and MGS3's take on the main MGS theme are probably my favourite two songs.

List is missing Way to Fall, though.

Seems like a pretty pointless way to create pre-release Hype on GameTrailers.

Nice try Gametrailers, here are the correct answers:

1) A Stranger I Remain
2) It Has To Be This Way
3) Red Sun
4) Rules of Nature
5) I Am My Own Master Now

Top 5 ? There are just too many awesome song in the MG saga to choose only 5.

Still "the best is yet to come" totally floored me the first time i heard it ...
I still consider it to be THE BEST Song

No Enclosure, no watch.

dude, seriously, every track from MGS1 should be there. It's so amazing til this day. It's sad they will probably never hire those guys again =(

I do have hope for the future, however, because of the way they've handled MGS3's soundtrack. Half the tracks were by a Hollywood composer (every game wants this i guess), but the other half are by their in house people, and boy were those tracks fucking amazing throughout the game. I like this approach, everyone wins.

I will fight you in a hand-to-hand physical altercation.

CQC?! I'll break apart your weapon in 4 different pieces Boss.

No one's mentioned the Escape Theme?? Used during parts of the Rex battle including after Gray Fox's death, and the tunnel sequence. Music perfectly encapsulates the sense of despair and struggle Solid Snake was faced with...such an epic and emotional track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qP9ZgrKMajQ

*EDIT* I just noticed you said it was used during the second phase of Rex's battle. Actually a much slower, abstract version of it was used. Very cool though. I remember making a topic about what i know know as "Leitmotifs" and the reuse of pieces of music throughout multiple tracks, and one of those were my examples.

The slower version during the battle. It's no good, I CAN'T DO IT
*END EDIT*

I did! well i did say every track in MGS1 should be included. Personally, "Escape" is my favorite non-vocal theme. You felt so desperate, and despite the multiple "ha-ha's im back!" tricks, you knew it was the absolute end of the game because of this track.

I swear I still hear the tires screech and Liquid's moans.

....which, btw, anyone realize they made great use of the "echo" sound throughout the game? Someone with a sound engineering background can explain better I guess.

I like all those songs, and the ones that weren't mentioned, but I honestly think they should've said Top 5 Metal Gear Solid Songs, with my #1 being MGS2 Main Theme. I can think of at least one or two songs from the MSX games and Rising that could be in (my) Top 5. And on the subject, really looking forward to "Sins of the Father" in TTP.

I'm gonna be disappointed if we don't get anymore in Ground Zeroes

There's some pretty overlooked gems in the series, to be honest. Everyone remembers the intro, credits, and cutscene stuff.

But I love this sexy 60's spy-thriller riff from MGS3:
MGS3 Caution Mode

Listen to that juicy guitar.

Um did he say they didn't include metal gear rising songs because they would dominate the chart ? What kind is bs is that. None of the rising songs are in the top 5 even IMHO. Sure some nice songs but not from the top 5.

As for the songs in the trailer. I love them all he same so I am ok with the list

But lol @ rising

Snake Eater is such a gloriously campy song; it is undoubtedly #1.

"Someday you go through the rain,
And someday, you feed on a tree frog"

Oh I was talking about this part right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VggTGFOlWuM&feature=youtu.be&t=6m36s

Same track that's also used later during the tunnel sequence. I believe that "slower" version is just the same piece only missing a couple of instruments; the beat remains the same from what I can tell. Either way, such a damn good track. The choir chant gives me chills everytime I listen to it. :D

No Calling to The Night? And the main theme is listed twice. What a terrible list.

Also, I don't get the fascination with Rules of Nature, all I can hear in that song is noise.

Gotta love the Red Disc remixes, especially Zanzibar Breeze

The context of playing the first boss in Rising is required for the full, impressionable effect. It's what you watch and see, though I did like the song before I played the game.

Ha!! I don't know why it didn't dawn on me to mention that it was included on the Red disc... Maybe it has to do with the fact that I have listened to "Level 1 Warning" all day, every day, non-stop since I got the damn CD!!

Does anybody know when the song Outer Heaven plays in Peace Walker? I swear I only heard it in a trailer.

Parts of it play on a loop when Big Boss, riding The Boss' horse, chases Peace Walker!!

Hearing the first few bars of "The Best is Yet to Come" play while Snake is surfacing in his SCUBA gear while movie-style credits were overlaid blew my mind on the magazine disc demo of Metal Gear Solid.

Seriously, though, when are we going to hear the full version of Sins of the Father? That song sounds amazing. Donna Burke's got some pipes.

I'm dying to pay for a downloadable version of the song on iTunes or something. It sounds great even amidst all the commotion of the E3 trailer.

Thanks, that's probably why I don't remember hearing it. Its got a long windup just like the Main Theme but I thought the song was pretty good.

Don't mention it! The Peace Walker soundtrack, like most Metal Gear soundtracks, is amazing. ;-)
