Gaming Forum lingo that should be abolished

The following are all fairly interelated. These terms are usually used by someone accusing a differing opinion of beeing "fanboy-ish". This reverse trolling is annoying as fuck.

The terms:

Fanboy (incl. wiitar, xbot, sony fanboy, etc...) - It gets even more annoying when people are accused of being fanboys of a specific game. WTF?

Bitter-tears. - OMG the fanboys are all crying bitter tears! Get the fuck over yourself.

Here's an example from the Last Remnant review thread:

WTF is this reverse trolling bullshit? What fanboys? The game's multiplatform for crying out loud!

I'll take a troll over this shit anyday.

Feel free to add to the list of retarded gaming forum lingo.
That's the newest trend. Talking about all the "haters" or "fanboys". "I'd love to see it happen just so I can see all the bitter tears lolz!" Shut the fuck up. Seriously.

"Bitter tears" is the end of all arguments. You can just say "bitter tears" and the other person will respond with "What bitter tears, wtf are you talking about?" and you can just respond with "bitter tears" again. Rinse and repeat until the other person storms out of the thread.

I inch my way closer to total madness every time someone posts the word 'confirmed'.

OMG GOTY CONFIRMED

OMG BETTER THAN UNCHARTED CONFIRMED

Etc.

I mean for heaven's sake, how did the word 'confirmed' grow in stature? Where did the morons pull it from, and why are they now waving it our faces like the figurative floppy penis?

No more 'confirmed', please.

Ooh, I'm aaaangry this morning.

Garnett saying "weekend confirmed" after every podcast doesn't help either. I know it's his stick, but he really should stop.

Any time I see someone use the term 'butt-hurt' they go straight to my ignore list.

When they talk like that, it is all I need to know about them.

Why does this term exist? When I was playing Wolfenstein: ET yesterday, someone used that term and I immediately thought of Gaf. Although, I doubt the members of Gaf coined that term. It is something I would expect from 4chan, though.

Animu, take that shit out of here.

Spell it right morons.

Aww. I just use it as a way to describe something that's over-the-top on anime fanservice. I can see how it'd be overused, though.

Changing letters with numbers..like Exodu5...oh wait..

again, not so much lingo per se, but how about we abolish leeches that hang around in the 'free to a good home' thread trolling for expensive rpg's, then months later decide to school everyone on internet etiquette?

"Bitter tears" is the only one that really annoys me. It doesn't add anything (except useless back-and-forth heckling in some cases), it can't be reasoned with and it's usually just projection anyway.

Ah, and I assume "IRL" means "In real life"?

I forget that thread still exists from time to time.

In this damn forum they seem to use it in description of anything with big eyes.

People talked about the "animu" artstyle in Valkyria Chronicles and Tales of Vesperia.

Bitter Tears is my most hated currently, but I also hate any term pertaining to fanboys as both are often used to dismiss someones opinion outright, usually because the dismisser can't come up with a coherant or relavent response but still wants to participate in the thread and maybe gain that highest of acolades; bringing the "lulz".

Oh, and "generic". I nearly lost it when someone called Far Cry 2 a "generic FPS" in the official thread, and I've seen it used to describe Metroid Prime and Mirror's Edge as well. The word has lost all meaning.

lets not say "anime" all together

also throw out "om nom nom", you sound like a toddler and an idiot when you say it

Sending people hateful and scathing private messages based solely on the fact that they disagree on one's belief is just sad (such as disagreeing on a console preference). Of course, I'm not helping to stop this thread from becoming a "bitch about Gaf" thread, so I apologize.

Going back on topic, I highly doubt this trend of lingo will stop because this thread exists. People like to feel as though they're better than others, so they will attach words like "fanboy" or "hater" to them, or perhaps taunt them by taking pleasure from their "tears of bitterness". This is the Internet, though, so you really can't expect much else.

Folks here say these things? Glad I never got that memo.

John Carmack is considered to be a mangod by many here.

Threads that bitch about how something or other on GAF or other forums is dumb and should become a bannable offense.

Lol c wut i did thar? Also posting in an Ex0du5 thread.

You could have done better. Maybe mention how the fanboys are feeling butthurt?
Should've changed in this thread with 'ITT', after all those years of GAF I finally discovered what it means. Just like 'smh'.

I would like to see the wholesale bannings of played-out troll memes (599 US DOLLARS, shooter-box, last-gen etc.) and people like kittonwy, whose every stupid utterance is parroted by his fanboy cohort (the smileys, awesome wowsome, wowhawk, RAWR etc.).

Seriously, it's OK if a joke is old as long as the particular reference is still funny, but it usually is only sparingly effective. When everybody is doing it, it gets tired really quick.

I have to agree with Yuri that "meh" is my absolute least favorite and the one word that needs to die. As for the memes and gifs, I adore them for the most part. Sometimes you get shit but sometimes you get...

I think language reveals the speaker, so I'd rather not limit what words and phrases people can use. It helps me sort the worthwhile posters from the complete and utter retards.

I like kittonwy, and seriously if block him if it annoys you or at least ad block the smiley's if they annoy you that much.

It's not really lingo...but the parade of popcorn/bag of popcorn in microwave comments and Michael Jackson popcorn GIFs that inevitably show up whenever something the least bit controversial comes up is annoying.

The "this" and "." remarks get to me sometimes. Thank God this place doesn't have a leveling system so people don't just spam replies to level up like at Gamespot forums.

I do block him. In fact, he has pride of place as the very first name on my Ignore List. Doesn't stop his fanclub from parroting his jokes or quoting his smileys.

Also, I can't block his smileys everywhere I access GAF.

I hate:

Meh - the opposite of what it's intended to portray. It doesn't say BAH, I AM ABOVE THIS, it says I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TO SAY

kk - Yeah, some people typed the "k" as in "okay" twice, please stop fucking doing it. Even my NON-GAMER/WOWFANATIC GIRLFRIEND DOES THIS SHIT.

Woot - JUST STOP

The only thing that should be abolished on game forums are smart arses who think high post counts mean they are really awesome and fanboys who tear you apart for even daring to think the game could be better or changed somehow.

I don't care about lingo.

I'm having trouble differentiating the lingo that is useless and irrelevant to the conversation and so should be abolished, and the lingo that strikes too close to home that I think shouldn't be abolished.

So when I read: "You guys are such manbabies pontificating over this kind of stupid animu crap that only appeals to otaku and wapanese", I'm not sure whether to smirk or to feel offended.*

*I've not read this quote on GAF.

The Cake is a Lie

I GET IT GOD DAMNIT THE FUCKING CAKE DIDNT EXIST NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT AND STOP REPEATING IT D:<

Yeah, I'm tired of Portal references. I played the game 8 months or so after release and it ruined my enjoyment.

They've slowed down though; I disagree that there needs to be a ban on them.

So everyone in here is bitching about different stuff that everyone in here is guilty of doing at least one of them at some point. :lol

Personally ... if it isn't respectful, then it isn't cool. Being disrespectful derails a thread faster than any of the meme/lingo bullshit. Plus ... I like GAF's personality.

Most people here have an agenda. It makes oneself feel good their contribution means something to xxxx thing no matter how contrived.

Eh? When did I troll for expensive RPGs? The only thing I can recall is that I posted a joke post offering up the rarest of the rare to bait people...the Red Scarlet tag is completely false, as not a single one of the games in my list did I get for free. The only RPG I got for free was GrimGrimoire, and I forgot to include it in that list.
