gaming in a 24 inch monitor...

I play on a 21.5 monitor on my PC and my Wii U. Looking to upgrade to 24 actually. Good quality monitors I find are actually better than big TVs (even big money TVs). So I actually prefer it. I occasionally plug my Alienware Alpha into my 60in TV for multiplayer gaming but everything always feels and looks better on my monitor I find.

playing ps4 games on a 24"????

dude really?

dont tell me you play all your games muted...

its really small. you know, there is a reason why there are console games and handheld games...

Wtf am i reading

Anyway OP it's fine, i have a 55", a 32" and a 24" monitor pc

All is fine when i have to switch, it just doesn't bother me, hell sometimes i prefer smaller screens

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't upscalers a problem with monitors? I mean if you have 24" monitor with native resolotuion of 1080p and you try to play a game with lower resolution, 900p for example, it end looking blurry or with artifacts on the monitor?

Depends how close you are sitting to it. Personally, I find that my skill goes up dramatically in mp games if I sit close.

Anyone else?

My asus 24 computer monitor is awesome but I kinda want a 27 inch I think that's the sweet spot.
I'm waiting for 4k to go down a bit to upgrade tho.

Absolutely. I played the halo 5 beta on my monitor, then hooked it up to my living room tv to show some friends and I played like hot garbage. Sitting closer and playing on a monitor got me from iron to silver. Felt like a pro.

It's about real estate. The bigger your screen the more time it takes for you to spot an enemy. I realised I wasn't doing so well on my 42" plasma TV so I hooked up my consoles to my 24" monitor at the desk and did much better.

24" BenQ monitor here, it's been pretty amazing for playing just about anything. As long as you're sitting close enough, there is no problem with a smaller monitor, makes things easier most of the time.

You have to be kidding. You still get the full 1080p framebuffer. 24 inches is fine for solo viewing from a few feet away.

I spend a summer playing games on this.

24" is fine!

Currently do all my pc/wiiu/ps3 gaming on a 27" monitor about 2-3 feet away from me.

No problem.

I "downgraded" from a 2560x1440 Korean IPS monitor overclocked to ~100hz to a 1080p 24in Gsync monitor at 144hz, and despite the resolution drop/panel change to TN I prefer the experience I am having at 24in. I think it really depends on how you sit and the size of your desk, but for me I enjoy the smaller monitor more overall.

I think 24 is perfect but only if your sitting close to it like a computer sceen, I have a 24inch benQ. I use it for pc gaming. I just got a 65 sony tv but the ps4 but I'm thinking about moving the ps4 with the 24 screen. For me sitting close to the screen I play better and I'm more concentrated.

My fiance wants the ps4 out of the bedroom where we have the bigger tv. I play at night and the light bothers her. So I have a personal study / work / entertainment room that's pretty small. Think dorm room. Would a 24 inch monitor be ok or is that too small?

Also. Which brand does monitors in your opinion better? Benq or Asus? Thx dudes.

Hope this answers your Question OP best investment I've ever made for the PS4 also works well for the simple fact that I'm also building a gaming PC to use the second HDMI

I play on a 22" or 24" TVin my room at university and I think it's fine. It's next to my desk that I sit at and while it'd be nice to have it bigger it was all I could afford.

Been using a 23.5 inch monitor for years and have had zero issues.

Sure it's smaller but you are also sitting much closer so it's a non issue.

Works for me. I always game at my desk, though, so I don't need a huge display.

I game on the 24" tv at my desk most of the time. It's fine if that's the viewing distance. Any more and you might opt for something bigger.

My son has a 24" monitor and sometimes if the big tv is occupied he uses it for the ps4 and it looks fine its like playing pc games if your sit close to it.

I used to have my Wii U hooked up to my 27" monitor and it was cool but PS4 AAA games need a big tv to do them justice. Id never even dream on playing my PS4 on my PC monitor.

A monitor is servicable and if your lucky you wont really notice what your missing until you play on a big tv again (40+), but i would not recommend it if you have the choice.

I've been using monitors for single player gaming ever since FFXIII released (which is around when I stopped using my SDTV), and it's perfectly fine. I sit pretty close to it, and have no problem seeing anything.

Depends on the resolution and your eyesight. I have a 30 inch which feels great to play on close but if I'm even 8 ft. from the screen it becomes impossible to read the text for some games.

While 24" is perfectly fine, I'm surprised no one has mentioned FOV. You usually want to trade off distance from screen relative to its size with FOV. Console games have had a recent trend of FOV being very low (60 or less). They can get away with it because the perspective is better on a large display across the room. Sitting close to a small screen works fine with so many PC games because they allow for higher FOV settings. Personally, I get a bit disoriented when playing a PC game that close when it's under 80. A 55 FOV console shooter at that range would probably have my eyes crossing in minutes.

I'm sure a lot of people here have done it with no issues, but it might be something to consider.

????? This doesn't even make sense. You don't miss anything on a smaller screen. My 24'' monitor looks better than my 46'' TV.

I got a 24 inch Asus monitor, when I got my ps4 and I love it. However I do sit very close to it. It was a massive step up from playing my 360 on a 13 inch tv.

Bigger is better.

Dorm room you say? So something along the lines of maybe 12 square meters?

Something more?

In my old place I had a 105" screen I used for games and movies (seating roughly 4 meters away from it) in a similar environment.

GO BIG.

I used to play my PS3 on a 24" monitor. I actually preferred it over playing on the TV. Possibly because the quality (and response time especially) of the monitor is better than that of my TV, but I felt like everything looked better (and controlled tighter - I assume b/c of the response time) on the monitor.

I would totally hook up my PS4 to a monitor if that was an option.

I play on a 24" at the desk and prefer it to sitting further away with a 46". I play on a Asus VG248QE.

I use the ASUS VS239H-P with my PS4 and am quite satisfied with it. I sit at my desk when using it so size isn't an issue. It has a 3.5mm jack I could hook up speakers to, but I use an external DAC/AMP and a pair of nice headphones when playing games. I also use my Google Chromecast with the monitor, super convenient.

24 is fine for a desk setup, I use the same monitor for my PC and PS4. If the noise bothers people you can always get a pair of headphones.

I've played my PS3 both on a 23" monitor and 40" TV. My experience:

Games looked a lot better on the big screen (but this might be because the monitor was a shitty samsung with a tn panel and the tv was a older high end sony model, most likely with a better panel)

Monitor seemed washed out in comparison with the TV. Might have been the settings that I never got down.

Low framerate was much more apparent on the TV. GTA 5 seemed much smoother on the monitor.

Online was better on the monitor thanks to better response time and also I guss the smaller screen size also helped

If you get a monitor, get a decent one though. The bad blacks and backlight bleed on mine drive me crazy.

It's fine, I used to play my PS3 on a 24" monitor at my computer desk, although you will probably notice shitty graphics more easily.

Depends on how close you sit to the monitor. 24" at 3 feet is fine for me much further and it becomes a chore to read the UI in a lot of games.

Might want to clean your PS4.

OT: I think 24" is fine. Like others have said, it really depends on how close/far you are from your screen. Only you know what looks best to you!

I use a 24" Benq for all my gaming as I have no TV and it's fine (I wouldn't mind a couple more inches, but oh well). It's on my desk, and so I sit pretty close by, whether playing on PC or console. Like others already said, it's about distance.

Forget the comfy couch though. I tried.
