No, it doesn't. A lot of things don't.It works within the logic of the show.

They have a pretty logical explanation for it in the tv cartoon Garfield and friends
Monday Misery
Just because he wasn't throwing up all over doesn't mean he didn't get stomach aches from it. Which is almost assuredly the case.
WebMD said:Most of us have probably given our cats a bit of milk and never noticed a problem. Thats because some cats tolerate milk just fine, Wynn tells WebMD.
I think you're blowing this out of proportion a wee bit. We gave our cat dairy for fifteen years and he was fine. He liked the occasional bit of cheese and a little dish of milk a couple times a week. He grew up hard as a motherfucker.
What the hell happened to Lyman?
You know, Jon's roommate and Odie's original owner?
Garfield liking lasagna doesn't make any sense. He's a cat and that shit would likely kill him.
Cartoons man, how do they work?
Cats can't eat dairy. It is why you aren't allowed to feed cats milk. Makes them extremely sick.
It's a myth that every cat is lactose intolerant. Many are but not all. Also kittens can eat dairy just fine usually.
Cheese and Onions so far in this thread. We are a few ingredients away from actually feeding it pizza. Goddamn.
What the fuck i feed my cats onions all the time
You mean your onion is a cat?My cat is an onion![]()

Garfield is a representation of our inner sloth and glutton. Although he's disgusting at times he just wants to be loved, like us.

People relate to Garfield because Garfield IS them. "He's a human in a cat suit," as creator Jim Davis likes to say. Garfield loves TV and hates Mondays. He'd rather pig out than work out; in fact, his passion for food and sleep is matched only by his aversion to diet and exercise (he prefers lay-downs to sit-ups). He'd like mornings better if they started later. Coffee "strong enough to sit up and bark" is the only way to start the day. What could be more human?
Fat, Lazy, and Lovable...Garfield says and does the things that people would like to say and do -- if only they could. "We're made to feel guilty for overeating and sleeping, but Garfield defends our right to grab a jelly donut and take a long afternoon nap," says Davis. "Somehow, Garfield relieves our guilt and we love him for it."
There's a reason for that--prolly the same reason most human babies can consume lactose while their adult counterparts can not.
Actually Garfield being a Cat is what doesn't make sense and well...I got this from garfield.com so it has to be truth:
And he tweets

I'm a human adult, lactose and me are coo'. Then again I remember reading that scandinavians in general have a higher tolerance of lactose.
That's cuz we Scandinavians are Dairy Master Race ;p
I don't have cats, but I did not know this. Weird though, because I remember it being a common thing growing up for people to put out a bowl of milk for stray cats that would show up at their doorsteps. Even kids knew about that tradition. Maybe the point was to kill stray cats, and not as an act of kindness? Mind blown!Cats can't eat dairy. It is why you aren't allowed to feed cats milk. Makes them extremely sick.

I'm gonna go eat some sour milk right away.
Feed. All. Cats. Pizza.
That's true but it's not some instant death blow, a little bit of cheese or milk here and there does no damage, just not on a regular basis.
