Garfield hating mondays makes no sense...

Just because he wasn't throwing up all over doesn't mean he didn't get stomach aches from it. Which is almost assuredly the case.

I am an awe of your ability to discern so much more from a cat's contented silence than we can.

Most of us have probably given our cats a bit of milk and never noticed a problem. That’s because some cats tolerate milk just fine, Wynn tells WebMD.

There. There's you two's 'five minutes of research', on the first page of the first result in Google for 'cats' and 'dairy'.

I think you're blowing this out of proportion a wee bit. We gave our cat dairy for fifteen years and he was fine. He liked the occasional bit of cheese and a little dish of milk a couple times a week. He grew up hard as a motherfucker.

My uncle smoked between 20 and 30 cigarettes a day for 35 years and is still alive. Doesn't mean everyone can do the same.

Garfield liking lasagna doesn't make any sense. He's a cat and that shit would likely kill him.

Cartoons man, how do they work?

And first post nails it again. Garfield never made any sense. That's the beauty of garfield. Without a doubt he's one of my favorites comic strip wise. Him and Peanuts. All other comic strips can be ignored easily.

I think it's most likely, from what I've learnt in this thread, is that it's likely Jon feed Garfield milk and cheese on a Monday.

edit - and today it appears I can't structure a sentence correctly.

It's a myth that every cat is lactose intolerant. Many are but not all. Also kittens can eat dairy just fine usually.

My cat is an onion :(

Cats can't eat dairy. It is why you aren't allowed to feed cats milk. Makes them extremely sick.

We dont give our cats a lot of dairy, but one of them is always waiting for me to finish a bowl of cereal so he can drink whatever little bit of milk is left. Never once been sick from it.

Actually Garfield being a Cat is what doesn't make sense and well...I got this from garfield.com so it has to be truth:

Character Profile:
People relate to Garfield because Garfield IS them. "He's a human in a cat suit," as creator Jim Davis likes to say. Garfield loves TV and hates Mondays. He'd rather pig out than work out; in fact, his passion for food and sleep is matched only by his aversion to diet and exercise (he prefers lay-downs to sit-ups). He'd like mornings better if they started later. Coffee "strong enough to sit up and bark" is the only way to start the day. What could be more human?

Fat, Lazy, and Lovable...Garfield says and does the things that people would like to say and do -- if only they could. "We're made to feel guilty for overeating and sleeping, but Garfield defends our right to grab a jelly donut and take a long afternoon nap," says Davis. "Somehow, Garfield relieves our guilt and we love him for it."

There's a reason for that--prolly the same reason most human babies can consume lactose while their adult counterparts can not.

I'm a human adult, lactose and me are coo'. Then again I remember reading that scandinavians in general have a higher tolerance of lactose.

Somebody needs to start another series of Garfield strips where they replace Garfield with Andrew Garfield and replace Jon with AG's agent.

I don't have cats, but I did not know this. Weird though, because I remember it being a common thing growing up for people to put out a bowl of milk for stray cats that would show up at their doorsteps. Even kids knew about that tradition. Maybe the point was to kill stray cats, and not as an act of kindness? Mind blown!

Yeah, it is a common misconception.

Kittens are allowed to drink goat milk, though.

That's true but it's not some instant death blow, a little bit of cheese or milk here and there does no damage, just not on a regular basis.

Its like dogs with chocolate. It won't kill them outright, but if they get enough of it - it definitely can.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that all adult humans used to be intolerant of lactose. It is awesome to be tolerant scandinavian, especially when I have a cold and just want some warm milk.

Garfield has to hate mondays. If he didn't, my coworkers wouldn't have all those hilarious comics tacked up in their cubicles.
