Parker is very strongly established so no wonder Marvel doesn't want to screw with him.
And the way it's structured the other Spiderman being black and/or gay depends solely on Marvel's will.
Seems reasonable. Turning Parker black always seemed like a bad idea when you already have the awesome Miles around.

For some characters? Sure. But for Parker both Gwen and Mary Jane are huge part of his life and mythos. So his sexuality isn't irrevelant. Aside from Lois Lane those two are by far the most iconic love interests for superheroes.

Yes, and especially since Marvel sold the rights to the films of Spiderman it shouldn't come as any shock that they would be careful and write in that they can't deviate from their own story telling.

Miles Morales is the black spiderman, Peter Parker is Caucasian.
The thing about spiderman only being heterosexual unless portrayed as anything else by Marvel seems understandable, to me at least. These guidelines don't seem that controversial. Marvel can make him like guys in a comic just like Iceman and then they have the go ahead to make the movie spiderman also like guys.
There could be a movie about Gwen and they would be in line with the rules given to them as well.

As for this Spider-Man stuff, I don't have a problem with it. This is very common with I.P.
If you don't think Disney has a set of rules for Mickey Mouse and company about how they are to be portrayed, you're mistaken. Same with Toho and Godzilla.
So he's white and hetero. BIG DEAL. There are black superheroes and gay superheroes and I don't have a problem with them, nor guidelines for those characters to "always be black and never heterosexual" if that's the way the companies ie; owners of the I.P. want the characters portrayed.
Frankly, I'm outraged by the outrage culture rampant in our society. /sigh

I mean, yeah, this character was written as a straight white guy. I'm all for changing these things if the writers want to change it, but I'm okay with already existing characters remaining the same.

When I see the term "outrage culture", my eyes immediately glaze over and I suddenly become as disinterested as one could possibly be. It's right up there with "SJW".
