Gears of War 3 - Campaign Trailer

I think metal is awful. I know the typical nerdy gamer loves metal but I don't fall under that stereotype.
I'm not a metal fan but I still don't mind some Black Sabbath. Hell I like trendy indie shit mostly but I still liked the song in the trailer.

Meh, trailer didn't do much for me, but I guess that's because this is a trailer for a game where I don't care much about the characters or story.

Music is much better, really don't see the appeal in the mellow, dramatic music for a game that's as pure, unabashed muscle-bound cheese as this one. Fun music for a fun ride.

that looked awful. it's fascinating how you guys keep getting excited for yet another grey-looking spacemarine shooter. same thing happens with killzone. every time a new trailer pops up, threads are filled with gifs that are supposed look very impressive. i don't see it. really.

but this will sell millions, so whatever.

Gears and Uncharted are the only two games of this type I bother with, because to me they're just stupid fun and have an amusing, self-aware presentation. Short lived and easy to digest, they're popcorn games and they're great fun with friends.

That said, I always find it a bit awkward when people act like something is poisoning the market or they're not being catered to when said market is so diverse and large lately making that nearly impossible. I can't think of almost anything that isn't being supported in a big way somewhere. Getting worked up over the handful of these games, no matter how popular they are with certain crowds, is just silly to me.

The animation and lighting improvements are huge, but we already know that from the beta.

Will be damn interesting to see how the saga ends and what happens.

Who gives a shit what the colour scheme and character design looks like when the game plays like an absolute dream whilst offering one of the most satisfying multiplayer experiences around?

I must be the only person on Earth who thought the "Mad World" trailer was damned silly.

I really liked the "Rendezvous with Death" one though!

As for this one, well...what can I say other than "Yep, that's Gears of War alright!"

This trailer was more for the "gears fans." It's little hints for what's to come.

Other trailers that are aimed to other crowds are sure to come.

I still don't get why people cream their pants over trailers with sappy music. They're cool trailers, but it's such an easy formula to pull off. Gritty, intense visuals+sad, serene music=OMG EPIC TRAILER!!!

Dead Island did it, Killzone 2 did it, and the 3 Gears games did it.

Now this comes along, has some cool music and some great visuals that actually show us what to expect from the game, and some people are just "meh'ing" all over it. I understand it not.

Great choice for music, but compared to the first two trailers, it was horribly mis-used. Would have been better with just the music over shots of the game.

The mash up of the clips and the choice of song make me feel like it's a fan's video tribute to the game or something, not really "professional" looking.

I like the song, but it just feels different from what Gears trailers usually look like.

I've always found the 'sad' Gears trailers laughably bad. At least this actually fits with the tone of the game and shows some cool footage.

He seriously listed the game's colour scheme as some kind of huge negative. =/ I love super happy funtime colours (sometimes I pop in Banjo Nuts n Bolts just because of its amazing eye candy - bright and colourful and beautiful). But there is nothing wrong with a more subdued art style. Gears of War looks _fantastic_. "Just another grey-coloured marine space shooter." Right.

Why the fuck would you make a Gears trailer without cool music? It's a trailer for crying out loud.

I remember seeing the Mad World ad when I was 16. Blew my mind. Just went so great with the animation. Really set the tone for what I thought the series would be about.

This trailer felt pretty generic and didn't do anything for me. It wasn't just the music, but how it was edited as well. The poster who said it looked fan made hit the nail on the head.

I'm still purchasing the game based off the strength of the Beta.

Liked it, can't wait! I don't know if it was the added colors or if Epic got a new Art Director in place, but the visuals surprised me positively in the Beta, absolutely gorgeous looking game and not just "this looks great, yet not that eye-pleasing tbh..." like before IMO.

pretty crappy trailer, poorly cut...as many said looked like a TV ad reduced from what was a full fledged trailer. Game will be good mind.

Art director is the same guy. It's just the Unreal Engine's new lighting system and the use of more colors.

Wow, I thought the trailer was kind of...meh. Nothing about that got me particularly excited, but maybe I'm burned out on Gears.

These all ruined Gears for me:
-Party chat
-5v5
-Emphasis on game types with respawning
-Matchmaking (an incredibly clunky implementation, too)
-Removal of a proper active reload on the one gun where it was awesome (sniper) while keeping that stupid broken shit on all the other guns
-Not as twitchy, slower paced gunfights

Are all these fixed in 3? If not I'll just rent it for the campaign which will probably still be totally awesome lol.

Everyone and his mom got into the beta? Where were you ?

I only watched the smaller resolution video but it looks like they added a lot of extra anti-aliasing that most definitely won't be present in the game.

Anyway, the game is day 1 and always has been for me. The trailer was awesome, the game and the new creatures/locations look fantastic. Can't wait!

So why isn't this on PC again?

Probably for the same reason as Gears 2.

Do you see the Xbox 360 as the main platform as opposed to the PC? During the whole Unreal time it was very much PC focused.

The PC right now is a fair amount different to what it was back in the day, with all the badly integrated video chips. Here's the problem right now; the person who is savvy enough to want to have a good PC to upgrade their video card, is a person who is savvy enough to know bit torrent to know all the elements so they can pirate software. Therefore, high-end videogames are suffering very much on the PC.

So piracy was a main point for you...

Right now, it makes sense for us to focus on Xbox 360 for a number of reasons. Not least PCs with multiple configurations and piracy.

Not a fan of metal either but there's metal and there's Black Sabbath's glorious metal and you people commenting on the music are embarassing yourselves. Go listen to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and their first few albums and learn something.

This is coming from someone whose favourite band currently happens to be Red house painters/Sun Kil Moon (who did the music used in the previous trailer).

Plus War Pigs fits like a glove.
Game looks very good although the trailer is 90% cutscenes.

i haven't watched any of the trailers but that's both awesome and sad to me to have Mark Kozelek's music associated with the series.
