Gears of War 4 PC Specs Announced

Those look pretty reasonable. Sounds like it might actually be a pretty solid port. Shame its gonna die on the Windows storefront.

80 GB doesnt bother me. I dont have an SSD so its a non issue.

I really hope the competitive community isn't DOA on PC. Gears Ultimate lasted like a week or two, and even then you could pretty much only find people in TDM.

Will wait to see benchmarks before I buy. I get both the Xbox and PC versions for this one right?
Running a 3570k and a gtx 970 but only 8 gigs of ram. I will probably be able to easily run this at 1080p on a high level of detail

Game runs just fine on Xbone: 7690 GPU + Jaguar CPU...but you need a supercomputer to hit "ideal" specs on PC. MMMMM-KAY. Specs lists like this are about as useful as a square wheel.

Game will probably run at minimum settings on the XB1. "Ideal" is probably somewhere near max/60fps/4k.

Horde only? No way, that sucks.
Co-op modes will have cross play.
Competitive nahhh....M-KB vs Controller would be unfair.

What's with the hilarious overeaction??

Surely it's not a reaction to space needed.

.5mb connection or something?

Slows speed, Low data caps.
Im in south central africa for atleast a year...if i was elsewhere it wouldnt be as much of a problem.

It took me awhile, but I'm guessing XPA stands for "Xbox Play Anywhere" and not the protein that is found in DNA :p

Hahaha I skimmed over his post thinking about what the heck XPA could be.
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Looking at this chart.

Im just DONE with PC specs what the fuck do those categories even mean for settings.

Like framerate and resolution should be there at the very minimum

When your ideal specs greatly exceed the specs of the console you made your game for...

Fairly sure they have the Scorpio thing in mind with the PC side of things. When that comes out, they are likely to be using the same kind of setup for 4K 30fps. Obviously Xbox One is at the lower end of that spectrum.

Probably needs the anniversary update so it can support the play anywhere initiative.

I meet the recommended specs so my pc and Xbox one should be okay.

I didn't realize nVidia was making i5s now

I know Nirolak already made a joke, I don't care

Wait till these people see the final size of Star Citizen lol. I'm expecting at least 100 GB.

80 GB isn't at all surprising to me.

kinda what I was thinking. SC isn't up to 80 GB yet, though. This will take an eternity on my 15 Mb connection.

Ouch. Those graphics don't look that good. Not sure if 4K can save this.

This game looks like it has absolutely no ambient occlusion. If it does, it's the most subtle implementation I've ever seen.

This. Makes it look like a Xbox 360 game in that regard.

Edit: To be fair this video also seems to be compressed to hell.

edit: slightly wrong thread, but still relevant enough to specs I guess.
UE4 has had POM for a long time now (and a good implementation at that!), furthermore, games like gears 3 had POM on x360 even (and I am pretty sure even Gears 1 maybe?).

So not seeing it in an obvious use-case anno 2016 in a mature engine on a mammoth PC is a bit odd:

That looks really bad, wow.

I don't see any anisotropic filtering either.

Are TPSs fun on m and kb? I dunno, the game just seems built for a controller.

M + kb are terrible for games with aiming in general honestly. I have no idea how people play when you cannot simulate the tense war-horror rumble of the joypad, the fear-induced inability to aim, or even the relatively simple viscerally filmic camera pan when turning around.

When developers put down specs, I think they should start suggesting what they consider "minimum" or "recommended" or "ideal" gameplay.

To the people freaking out about that, minimum is probably like 1080p/30fps at medium settings or something -- likely similar to console performance. Recommended is probably 1080p/60 at max or near max settings. Ideal is probably 4k at some playable framerate, likely between 30 and 50fps.

Image was pretty clear when I set the video to 4K on my 1080p monitor, but it was just clearly unimpressive.
