After Resistance I would pick Warhawk, it's just so easy to get into and fun.

Glad you threw your two cents in. So how are you liking your 360?

What else would you add? (To the game itself- I know there's also improvements to be made to the matchmaking system and other externalities)
No, I just meant that with that list of things, the game wasn't 'close' to being perfect. I think they would need to put some serious time in, but its was never designed for MP as some have said.

Do you like space acne?

If yes, Gears of War. If no, Warhawk.

Gears has a short campaign that can be tons of fun if you have someone on your friends list willing to soldier through it with you this far after release. The multiplayer is good if you treat it as casual fun. It's full of glitches, exploits, and latency, so if you're looking for a fair shake and great competition, then it might be a bit frustrating for you. If is fun though, despite what GAF will tell you. Tons of people still play it.

Don't know about Warhawk, I haven't played it, but it looks sweet and if multiplayer is a main focus for you, it definitely looks like a safe bet.

I also think you should get your hair cut short and dump your girlfriend.

I recommend the short hair cut but I'm against dumping teh girlfriend, I would recommend a romantic dinner but with lots and lots and lots of wine. For happiness.

I know that's been said, but I really enjoyed the multiplayer before I began to notice those other things. And this coming from someone who plays games that are "designed for MP." Guess it's just personal preference, but I would not have known the MP was "rushed" had someone not told me. I felt that it was the main selling point of the game. *shrug*

GOW, it's the best looking next gen game.

But WOWhawk is like that really really cute girl who lives across the street, the one you grew up with, who knows all your little quirks, your temperament and knows how to appreciate you for who you really are, and isn't stuck up, overbearing or high maintenance.

The glitches and lack of dedicated servers are what give me the 'rushed' feel. If they had more time it would have been a much smoother experience. It started really bad IMO but got better when they fixed a bit.

True, but after finishing it and playing some MP it felt like thats ALL it is.

I, too, am curious of how much GoW you've played Kittonwy. Now, don't get me wrong, I recommended Warhawk as well (despite having never played it- perhaps I should take my own advice?) but nowhere in your posts do I see your consideration of Gears.

warhawk is fun.. but they could add in more maps, i've only bought the game for 2 weeks or so and already bored with the 5 maps.

I didn't say anything about Gears.

I have only completed the single player campaign of Gears on hardcore mode, that's pretty much it, so it's not like I have extensive knowledge of the game. I don't have XBL (at least on weekdays). For single player experience I would pick Bioshock over Gears any day of the week though since I just finished Bioshock recently.

I was part of the WOWhawk beta, and it was fun.

Ehhhhhh I'd go with Gears of War. I like Warhawk too, but i got tired of it faster than i thought I would. Granted, I'll probably start to play Warhawk again. Gears was a really great single player experience though.

Do you want a Battlefield type mulitplayer game or an squad based, smaller quarters shooter? Thats pretty much what it comes down to.

Fixed, Gears MP is broken.

Did they fix the problems with Warhawk? Last I heard there are problems with ranks being deleted, crashing, and people having problems getting into games that show are open but really are not.

Have all these issues been resolved?

and here I was thinking this was just a subtle troll to get a system war started! I'd say Gears, coz i'm playing it for the first time and loving it.

I think I'm going to call my wife and ask her to start the download. Warhawk it is.

I think. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......

You don't think, you know... Warhawk is one of the most fun games I've played this gen... Compared to one of the most over-rated, weak all round, look at the textures that is gears, it's miles beyond that game in amount of time you'll get out of it, and, that's it's pure-raw-simple-fun...

Come the 25th, you'll be partnered and playing against tumbleweeds online in Gears as well...

Do you get your check in the mail, or...?

Gears of War has the most fun co-op I've ever played. The game is definitely worth a purchase. The online multiplayer has its problems but I still play it a lot. Then again I've heard Warhawk is full of problems as well.

Warhawk was just ok for me. I can't really give a good review of it because I only played it for half an hour and the majority of that time was spent learning the controls. I guess I had fun with it but I wasn't blown away at all.

Yeah, I should start collecting from the "Garbage of War" company that's sole purpose is to trounce on Gears all the time instead of doing free advertising... No... Gears is one of the most drastically overrated games of all time, and that's that IMO... Short, lack of any interesting story, some of the most sluggish controls ever witnessed, etc...

Woah! Did anybody else see that credibility fly out the window?!

You have to be joking. The controls in Gears were some of the tightest and intuitive controls I've ever played with in a shooter. I always felt like I had complete control over my character. What exactly do you think was wrong with them?

When not bouncing from cover to cover, every movement seems slow and sluggishly responding... And, bouncing from cover to cover didn't feel all that hot either, but that's probably because I'm not a fan of the face buttons on the 360 controller... Wish they were the quality feeling that the triggers and analog sticks have...

I never noticed a problem playing Gears, except getting stuck on cover in MP, but that's rare. The only sluggishness I've noticed was intentional (turning while roadie running, low stick sensitivity while fine aiming, etc.) Sluggish controls are one thing, design choices and not liking the feel of the 360 controller is a matter of taste, not poor controls.

I really enjoyed Gears of War, IMO it's a must-buy. I'm personally slightly more inclined towards single player experiences (my competitive spirit has died down a bit over the years) and Gears of War, with the exception of the end bit, is a brilliant game.

As far as multiplayer experiences go though, Warhawk is fantastic. Just for me personally I'd pick Gears of War if I had to pick one.

Yeah, once you master the cover system, the controls are really slick. Very few games can feel and look as awesome as Gears does when you are spinning from cover to cover, rolling, roadie running, and then delivering a nasty grouping of buckshot that turns your opponent into so many chunks.

But yeah, if you blow at it then you'd probably call it sluggish. It's anything but.

Of course, there are a few hitches resulting from the all-in-one A button, and some weirdness in MP with the chainsaw and other glitches, but the core mechanics are very intuitive and pretty damn responsive in the context of a full cover system.

Are you serious? I mean, just be honest, Warhawk is by far the better game.
'What does it mean? Is it an offensive move? Is it a diversion? Someone wake the team up. We need to decipher this ASAP.'

That's certainly not true in all cases... I don't necessarily "blow" at shooters (though not that great by any means), and it's sluggish to me...

I remember when Gears first hit there were a bunch of people in the early levels wondering what in the hell was going on with the controls. Typically, about an hour in, it just clicks and people "get it." I wasn't implying you sucked at it, but more that it's jarring at first, not only due to the third person (yeah, not going to call it second, Cliffy), and the cover mechanic, but also because when you aim, you're pulled into a slow, standing position that makes it difficult to orient yourself unless you use it sparingly and only when you are lining up a shot.

Sluggish to me means that the controls are not responding directly to my inputs. In Gears, when I press A, I roll. When I hold it and use the analog, I run. When I pull the trigger, I fire. It's all very responsive. It is certainly slower paced than Epic's other shooters, but I haven't ever found it sluggish.

But to each there own. To the main point, it seems like the OP can't really go wrong. Both titles got great reviews and tons of gamer praise.
