GOP rep: Republicans quiet on Flynn because 'they're having breakfast with their wives'

Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) on Tuesday said Valentine's Day is the reason many Republicans have so far been quiet about the resignation of national security adviser Michael Flynn.

"It's Valentine's Day and I guess they're having breakfast with their wives," Collins said on CNN's "New Day."

"Really, all I can say is, I'm sorry to see General Flynn go. I don't know the details of what transpired."

Collins praised Flynn as a "great American" who's "very loyal" to President Trump.

"He has stepped down, obviously something he felt was in the best interests of his country," Collins said.

"I certainly respect that, but I know I live in the world, we move on from here, I'm not going to be one, nor would I hope others, dwell on the situation or pile on to use another term. I think it's just time to move on, find a replacement."

What I don't understand is this: Trump is compromised, Pence waits in the wings. It's not like if they get rid of Trump, the letter next to the name changes to D. They'll still have control of everything.

If the Democrats look at the GOP's reaction to all of this and still can't see it, the party deserves to die and be replaced by something that has a functioning spine. If the Democrats retake the House, Senate, and White House, and they don't go after Trump and his cronies hard, this bullshit is never going to end.

They pretty much just confirmed Flynn is their attempted fall guy and they're hoping to pin it all on him and sweep it under the rug.
 
I don't think the GOP has realized the die has been cast and the leaks will get worse since blood in the water. If they don't investigate, they are setting themselves for a harder fall. They could slow roll it but they can't really stop it. I mean it is early and its basic defense but if they don't change their tune in the next few days, then all bets are off.

Which was obvious all along and is so, so not going to work. If there is something there, it will be found. Not quickly, necessarily, but it will.

This is the beginning. I mean, literally... this is the beginning. We're not even ONE MONTH into this administration. The pace is staggering, really. I mean, fuck, TV shows take longer to unfold than this. This is binge-watch pace.

This also exactly confirms their larger strategy of blocking out news that doesn't agree with them as much as they can. Take questions only from loyal right wing outlets and lock them out every weekend when Trump goes to Mar-a-Lago. They won't have to answer a lot of these damning questions, and their loyalist base barely sees it.
