No matter what happens, they're guaranteed a Republican in the White House, but they'd rather ride out with what's rapidly approaching a lame duck administration. Every week there are new scandals, and there aren't enough fingers in the world to plug all these leaks. The inner circle is bleeding out, and not much of anything is going to get done when the entire White House is under investigation.

Congress needs to get their heads out of their asses and consider the possibility of impeachment.

They're still going to take a well-deserved black eye for supporting the corrupt bastards, but it's better than getting knocked out.

As far as the Senate committee goes, even though it's bipartisan it's composed of 8 GOP and 7 Dems. I'm not sure how they agree on what to investigate/who to question/etc, but I would imagine it's based on majority vote, so if the GOP members want to obstruct I'm pretty sure they'd be able to.
