Genesis and Turbograph 16 - but what about Master System?

Hell, Master System has almost equal many games I want to replay as Genesis(Megadrive) has. Just a few highlights:

Zillion
Fantasy Zone
Secret Commando
Ghost House
Enduro Racer
The wonderboy games
Alex Kidd in Miracle world
Lord of the Sword

Needless to say, the Master System was amazing.

I just hope this SEGA deal later will have Master System games available for download.

Yeah, I mentioned this in the other thread. This is one of the few systems I never owned, I would definitely like to see some support in the Virtual Console.

It hasn't been ruled out, as Beth said in the IGN interview.

The wonderboy RPG games are the only things on Master System that I'm really pining for though, to be honest, with otherwise mostly ropey arcade ports and bad platformers, IMHO.

There aren't a huge number of games that weren't better on the Megadrive.

wasn't there a Fantasy Zone on TG16?
yes.

there was a load of kick ass sega stuff on the pc engine, many were the best conversions i've played. outrun, powerdrift, afterburner, etc.

as for master system, there were a few good games, maybe they'll come to revolution if megadrive downloads are popular.

I love the music from this game. Also, this game rocks and has the coolest boss fight ever. Also, you get to kick dogs and bottles.

Time Soldier :b

I brought my Master System with me on a vacation once to FL to visit my cousins...when my aunt saw Time Soldier, she took my Master System out to her garage and destroyed it with a hammer, as well as Time Soldier, claiming the game was demonic

I was pissed, and appearantly, so were my parents...they got me another system with five or so games instead of just the one

The worst part is...I now live 10 minutes away from her

fuck I hate Florida

Forget Master System, bring Sega-CD/Saturn emulation!

Outside of the size of the games, I think progress in Saturn emulation (compared to PS1 and N64) has been really slow (probably because of the strange architecture of Saturn, or maybe because less people care about it). I think it's unlikely we'll see it on Rev.

Most of the time, the boxart of SMS games were more entertaining than the games themselves.

Bolded for truth.

The early Master System artwork was hilariously bad. I mean, Atari and Nintendo coverart TROUNCED the stuff that was on the Master System. The artwork in Japan (and later, Brazil), was leagues better.

Edit:
Well, ok, there was that first Megaman, but that's legendary anyway.

Golvellius and Miracle Warriors were awesome.

Power Strike, Penguin Land, Parlour Games, Maze Hunter 3D, Psycho Fox, Ys, Bomber Raid, and Cyborg Hunter were the unknown greats of the system.

Psycho Fox was an amazing game for the time.

Man, I love Master System. This console make a big sucess than NES in Brazil.

Some good games I want to play again in the VC of REV:

Alex Kid in Miracle Word:
Alex Kid in Shinobi Word
Aztec Adventure
Castle of Illusion
California Games
Choplifter
Double Dragon
Fantasy Zone
Ghostbusters
Moonwalker
Out Run
Phantasy Star
Psycho Fox
Rambo III
R-Type
Shinobi
Sonic the Hedgehog
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
Sonic Chaos/Sonic & Tails
Sonic Labyrinth
Space Harrier
Streets of Rage
Wonder Boy
Zillion
Zillion 2: The Tri-formation

phantasay star...best rpg..even beating final fantasy

This man speaks truth.

I'm hoping they add SMS as well. I'd buy Phantasy Star in a heartbeat. The battery backup on mine died a while back.

You just want Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, just admit it.

Moonwalker was on Genesis...

They need the arcade Moonwalker, since not only was it a better game, but 2P and 3P MJ were sporting Crip and Blood colors. :lol

:lol :lol :lol

I was about to post a reply mentionning how sad I am that this game won't be available on VC.

Not true, I'm not sad at all, this game sucked

I expect we'll likely get a few higher profile SMS/Mark III games mixed in with the MD/Genesis stuff. Phantasy Star, Wonder Boy, etc.

zillion is probably my favorite 8-bit game. :rock

i can still perfectly hear al the music and sound effects in my head (from the wierd stuff playing while entering your key card, to the ever present background bit, to the up-beat tune when talking to your teammates or in your ship at the start)

Okay, I'll agree that there were some pretty kick-ass Master System titles ...

... but to compare it to the Genesis/Mega-Drive is basically a joke IMO.

The list of truly great games is short enough, that IMO ... just go after some PC emu solution rather than attempting to divert the attention from the developers of more relevant legal emi solutions.

Just nit-picking, but you're already getting superior PC Engine/Turbo Grafx versions of these.

Good to know! The truth is that I never see a Turbo Grafx in my life. It's good to know that machine will be in REv! :)

Same here. I played the game to death and remember how happy I got when I rescued Apple cause she was the jumper and I could now reach stuff that was previously impossible.

is nintendo just hoping that we as 30+ age parents, go and buy the revolution just for the nostalgia thing, so our kids will enjoy it as much as we did back in the day?it seems the thing is working, although there is emulation of those systems, but nothing beats playing those games on the regular tv set!

Zillion was my favorite game of the master system, too bad that game studio separated>>>>>

What about the Commodore 64?!

Now we're talking...as much as I loved my SMS, nothing talks to the C64.

I used to live for Master System:

Strider.
Wonder Boy In Monster Land.
Alex Kidd.

And last, but by no means least,
Shinobi.

All brilliance.
