Genres that just aren't for you?

FPS to an extent.

I love Doom 1, 2, and 4. But that's about it for FPS games that I've played and enjoyed. I just kinda figure it's not a genre I like.

And as for like... setting Genres, I usually absolutely cannot stand Sci-Fi. I hate it. It almost always comes off as dull and booooooring to me.

And as an Anti-Social person who doesn't like the idea of having to work "together" on a team, and especially talk to have a good team strategy, no. I can't. So in that sense, Team Based MP games I can't play. CS:GO, MOBAs in general, Overwatch seems like it's the same way, and TF2. I just... can't.

Virtually all online multiplayer games.
MMOs
MOBA
FPS games
Sports
Racing
Fighting

If it revolves around competing with strangers on the internet it's probably not my kinda thing.

I play a lot of Monster Hunter, but that's co-op vs the computer. I only get to play at home every now and then and just don't have the time to learn to play competitive games vs people who play for tens of hours a week.

Open World, shooters, FPS, MOBA are no-buys for me.

Excluding Nintnedo, most things that prioritize multiplayer (especially online), and neglect single player, I won't spend any money on.

I wanna say MMOs are written off as well, but I'm super tempted to give FFXIV another shot. Eorzea looks stunning and heard great things about the game's story. It also actually looks really fun with friends.

If we're talking entire genres then MOBA's and Sports games. I can enjoy ( parts ) of other genres ( though with a dislike towards competitive-focused / multiplayer-only games ). MOBA's just are completely uninteresting to me and most of the MOBA communities feel fairly hostile / unwelcoming. Sports in general just aren't much interesting to me.

MOBAs. RTS. MMORPGs. Just not my cup of tea.

FPS (which is a shame since Overwatch's characters pique my interest), MOBA, sports games, and I only like racing games if they're cartoony like Mario Kart or Crash Nitro Kart.

I guess puzzle games too since the only reason I don't own Catherine is because of the block climbing segments which I know I'd suck hard at.

MOBAs - although I did play the original DotA in Warcraft 3 but that's just because all my friends did and it was played at LANs at times. Don't enjoy any of the modern MOBAs that I've given a try.
JRPGs - haven't enjoyed any post-PS2.
Dating sims and visual novels.
Pseudo MMOs like Destiny/The Division. I don't like MMOs either outside of EVE Online but then again it's a game completely unlike other MMOs since it's entirely a player-driven sandbox which I feel what MMOs should actually be.

MOBAs

Online MP focused games in general, but I do enjoy a few (Splatoon and Destiny)

But yeah MOBAs are just not for me

Also whatever the genre is called where you have mobile games with gems/cool downs/skinner box mechanics

The only genre that I really can't get into is RTS. Turn-based strategy is usually a miss for me, but I have liked a few games in the genre.

I absolutely suck at fighting games but I still like giving new ones a try.

WRPG
Multi-player FPS, with the exception of Overwatch
JRPG if the combat isn't turn-based
3D "character action" games
MOBA
SRPG

Sports games, besides the fact that I usually don't fully get the rules, they just don't do it for me

But I'll play just about anything else

I wouldn't really write off anything at this point. I thought I was done with FPS because I haven't enjoyed much in the genre for about 10 years, but then DOOMs Single Player and OverWatch are my two favorite things right now

I do know that I can't stand shit like Uncharted though. All the technical prowess in the world means nothing to me when I dont like how the games feel. Same with GTA. I think they are bad to average TPS

tldr; Specific types of games within genres aren't for me, but there's no game i'll overlook just because of it's genre

I generally like all video games

I try to keep an open mind so at this point in my life I think I've enjoyed a game in every genre.

Granted, my tastes shift around over the years but I think I was into each genre at some point in time - however briefly.

It's not a genre, but for some reason, I have a really hard time getting into games with an isometric camera angle. It's almost definitely a deal breaker for me. The only exceptions I can think of are Diablo 3 (console), X-Com, and FF Tactics Advance. First person perspective and 2D are definitely my faves. I can tolerate 3D third person sometimes, too, but it feels rather clumsy often times.

Traditional JRPGs. I played a bunch. Not for me.

But just about every other genre has something I like.

Mostly anything first person. Actually never was too keen on the old school 2D platformers and shooters either - with one or two minor exceptions.

Competitive online RTS. I like single player though but my APM is trash.

Minecraft. It seems so monotonous, tedious, and boring.

Walking simulators. Go here. Now go there. No go back over where you were...etc.

MMOs. In theory could be amazing. In practice are narrow grindfests with too heavy an emphasis on social engagement.

I don't know if there's any genre I flat out dismiss.

I'd say sports, but then Rocket League.
I'd say RTS but I enjoy a few.
MOBAs... HoTS.

I guess sports sims, if that would be considered a separate genre?

- Any genres/games where gameplay is not the main focus, anything story driven is of no interest to me.
- Turn based RPGs (apart from Pokemon for some reason) I just can't get into and find boring.
- Whatever genre League of Legends and those kinds of games are.
- Fighting games. I've tried but I just can get into them.
- Any multiplayer only/focused games.

There are others, but I'm sure those ones would give you an idea of what others ones aren't for me.

RTS and Sports games are definitely not for me. Since I mostly play singleplayer games, you can also add moba's and mmo's to the list. I only casually follow the news on these genres. Exception is fighters, which I don't play, but I like to watch the competition streams of.

I don't do most organized sports genres (tennis, golf and boxing are fun), most games with anime art styles (Killer7 and Castlevania being the exceptions) or roguelikes. I'm into just about everything else.

Competitive multiplayer games in general are just not for me. There's been maybe 2 or 3 in the last decade that have held my interest for more than a day or two.

Love me a bit of co-op, though.

Certain RPGs, fighting games, MOBAs, the more difficult types of puzzle games, basically anything that requires to really know exactly what you're doing in depth to succeed in the game. For me games are an escape where I can turn my brain off and relax. Just fucking around in Rocket League or building shit in Minecraft is the best type of gaming for me. Or even certain FPS, I love just flying ships around like a moron in Planetside 2 or using the wonky physics to climb up trees you're not supposed to.

Co-op or multiplayer only shooters. They seem so utterly shallow to me. Real headless-chicken stuff, populated mainly by players who run round with their finger on the trigger and jump, jump, jump all over the place pulling off the cheapest of the cheap kills. No flair, no finesse, yuck.

Have no time for rpg's, rts or racing simulators either.

MOBAs.

There is no other genre which I absolutely love the complexity and the depth of execution of, but can't play for my life.

This is also very related to my inability to play RTSs in general.

Sports games
MOBAs
Deathmatch multiplayer
Turn based games (I have tried several times, but I just don't have the temperament for it)

A good chunk of FPS's (especially multiplayer-focused ones), sports games, WRPG's, and realistic racing games. So, basically most of the Western AAA market.

Linear, cinematic third person games. I find them mind-numbingly boring.

And JRPGs (though I despise this term as I feel it lumps together games that are very different from one another).

Sports game, but the generic one like Fifa/Madden/NBA, and strategy games like Civilization. Except that I play and enjoy every other kind of game.
