Geometry Wars meets ThunderForce-style scrolling...for free

Out of all the trippy freeware shooters, rRootage is the best. Even better than warning forever or parsec 47

I've never played either of those. Got a link?

I love rRootage, because it's like one boss fight after another.

Edit: nevermind. I just realized all the games we're talking about afe all from ABA games.

These guys rock.

As good as Kenta Cho's shooters are (they've got the style down), I think the best freeware shooters are easily Cho Ren Sha 68k and Warning Forever.

On the other hand, a7xgp is brilliant.

Not Warning Forever.

I'm downloading Tumiki Fighters now.

If this game plays like I think it does, I'm gonig to be very upset. I had an idea for a game like this a few years ago. I thought it was a pretty radical idea, and I don't recall other games having a mechanic like it.

edit: Oh good, it's not quite the same. With my idea, as you add pieces your weapons change as well.

Isn't that what happens?

It didn't seem like it to me. Maybe I'm wrong. It just seemed like the pieces just added to the size of your ship, and made maneuvering harder if you wanted to keep them on and gain a bonus.

Control your ship and destroy enemies.
You can catch the enemy's broken piece.
Pieces are stuck to your ship and counterattack to enemies.
You can earn the bonus score by keeping many pieces stuck.
Stuck pieces are destroyed when they touch a enemy's bullet.

While holding a slow key, the ship becomes slow and
the ship direction is fixed.
Stuck pieces are pulled in and you can prevent a crash of them,
but the bonus score reduces to one fifth.
Enemy's pieces are not stuck while holding this key.

If you stick many pieces, enemies become more offensive and
tend to fire more bullets.

I'd love it if these games got released on Xbox Live Arcade.

I know rRootage and Noiz2sa got ported to Xbox, but that's because Xbox has SDL on it. They'd have to be re-programmed for DX9 to work for Xbox 360.

Yup, you're wrong :)

Sticking another ship to yours makes it so that it fires its weapons, so the more ships you've got stuck together, the more shots you've got flying all over the place. Unfortunately, the stuck ship's shots only go in the direction the ship was facing when you grabbed it, so if you're not careful, you can end up with a bunch of shots going in completely useless directions.
